that's it really. I don't even 100% know why but I can't stand them. Some reasons are they are horrible colours and ridiculously expensive, unnecessary to spend that surely? And it seems to me (round here anyway) that BugaBoo owners are v smug - "only the best for my children" types. Someone I know insisted on getting one and they have so little money that half the time she can't afford to even get on a bus to do anything, so she and her kid sit inside all day, pretty much every day. Better to get a cheaper travel system and let the poor child get some fresh air IMHO... ooh, they just really make my blood boil. Happy to be put straight by proud BugaBoo owners

Seen them new iCandy ones??
See, they are quite similar to the Bugaboo (as far as I can tell and I know nothing) but I don't feel the same irrational hatred. Weird really.

LordVolAuVent · 18/05/2010 22:14

Can't imagine scottishmummy is really bothered I don't like her pram, with orwithoutyou.

Ginhag, I wouldn't think you were smug, given your descriptons, don't worry. I realise it's me with the problem. I did comment on your tooth thread in support of you too

i have dior sunnies - loads of birkies - TWO bugaboos (get me!) and a clapped out old volvo!

Dont drink latte - hot milk is the devils semen

kittywise · 18/05/2010 22:14

posy"kitty - i ALWAYS agree with you but not on this one
i loathe maclarens and i have had 3"

Blimey!!!!!!
I like mine, but that's not to say if I were ever to have another AND someone where to sell me one second hand then I wouldn't...........
But I won't be
greensleeves, I feel your pain

but EVERY respectable mother has them here.

I got a sh P&t from a friend. She loved it. It's really really shite. Can't steer it at all. As soon as toddler presses foot in footwell it stops front wheel moving and no chlid wants to sit underneath amongst the traffic fumes where they can't see where they're going!

withorwithoutyou · 18/05/2010 22:15

That's a relief.

ginhag · 18/05/2010 22:16

God I am tragically needy

It really bloody hurts actually. Thanks...

dulciejones · 18/05/2010 22:16

I think if you buy it second hand from ebay you should have to have that printed across the front.

If you only paid £250, you have no right to be smug. You have an obligation to label your pram.

PosyPetrovaPauline · 18/05/2010 22:17

Kitty - phew we agree again ! The p and t is a crock of shite - heavy - veers off in the wrong direction - knees bashing baby seat and have to be bent double to push it at full handle height even though I am 5 foot 7...grrr

kittywise · 18/05/2010 22:18
Wink
dulciejones · 18/05/2010 22:19

Posy, what alternative would you suggest for 2 under 2yrs?

bibbitybobbityhat · 18/05/2010 22:21

Come on SM - you are the one stamping your little feeties here.

I have been on Mumsnet for nearly four years and am pretty used to the place with all its funny quirks and foibles. But the thing that consistently surprises me is the offence taken when someone, anyone, an anonymouse purveyor of words on a screen, says they don't like something that you do like. People who hold the opposite view then get outraged by this, and take massive umbrage, and there is tears, hurt and accusations of jealousy (inevitably).

Do you touchy folk honestly think that everyone in the world should think the Bugaboo is the best pram?

I just don't get this unwillingness to accept that people are entitled to have directly opposite opinions on things to you (especially stuff rather than say morals or politics). Why ever not?

See baby name threads in particular.

PosyPetrovaPauline · 18/05/2010 22:21

i recommend 'out and about' nipper - fabulous prams

dulciejones · 18/05/2010 22:23

Do they take 2 children?

sungirltan · 18/05/2010 22:23

some of the icandy prams have what looks like a chrome bumper (like on a car) no the front - a bit footballers wives imo ;-)

i am spacing my kids wide on purpose so i dont have to have a double buggy because i hate the p&ts so much. i hate the adverts for them even more.

scottishmummy · 18/05/2010 22:24

do as i do.keep the price tags on,nice to see em swish in a fragrant haze. unlike the puddle grey finger chopping carts rattling on by pavement

Sassybeast · 18/05/2010 22:24

Graco travel system owner and proud

sungirltan · 18/05/2010 22:25

he he he scottishmummy

scottishmummy · 18/05/2010 22:27

bibbity is that your guttural roar or just clearing your throat?

sorry i couldnt hear over the stamp of kitten heels and revv of rolls royce engine

LordVolAuVent · 18/05/2010 22:28

footmuff is one of my favourite words...

See how ridiculous I am.
Noone should take offence at my thinking them smug/not liking their buggy. If anything, they should be flattered.

Did you get your finger chopped off in a maclaren, scottishmummy? You seem to hate them as much as I hate the BugaBoo. And, why do you have 3 BugaBoos? Just out of interest.

OP posts:
dulciejones · 18/05/2010 22:29

The nipper double is wide though isn't it? Does it fit through single doorways?

I think I would have found that more difficult to push with one hand as other hand was holding DS.

Also, DD2 definitely got more sleep etc in the P&T that she would have in the Nipper as DD1 would have been poking her with allsorts.

LordVolAuVent · 18/05/2010 22:30

And does anyone know why it is called the BugaBoo? Is it named after the Destiny's Child song?

OP posts:
Goldenbear · 18/05/2010 22:30

YANBU but I don't understand why you would be smug about owning one- they suggest a true lack of imagination if you're purchasing one to look stylish. Most people I know think they're 'common'.

However, I'm sure they're very practical?

scottishmummy · 18/05/2010 22:30

yes i have 3 bugaboo's.because im worth it

bearcrumble · 18/05/2010 22:31

Oh I want to be judged too. I have Oliver Peoples sunglasses, dark brown hair (no highlights) and my pram is an Xplory. My birkenstocks are silver - the ones with just one strap.

LordVolAuVent · 18/05/2010 22:32
