to hate the BugaBoo (or however you spell it)

that's it really. I don't even 100% know why but I can't stand them. Some reasons are they are horrible colours and ridiculously expensive, unnecessary to spend that surely? And it seems to me (round here anyway) that BugaBoo owners are v smug - "only the best for my children" types. Someone I know insisted on getting one and they have so little money that half the time she can't afford to even get on a bus to do anything, so she and her kid sit inside all day, pretty much every day. Better to get a cheaper travel system and let the poor child get some fresh air IMHO... ooh, they just really make my blood boil. Happy to be put straight by proud BugaBoo owners

LVoV - depends which one?

CharlieBoo · 19/05/2010 22:45

I hate gracos.

jeananddolly · 19/05/2010 22:50

I hate Gracos too. And feature walls. But enough of this hate...I must go to bed.

LordVolAuVent · 19/05/2010 22:53

Well I have decided I'm going to buy a Bugaboo Spitting Cobra - it's so nimble, it literally slithers along the street, and, like a rat, can squeeze through a seemingly impossible gap. It also attacks with a venom anything it percieves as "foe", meaning precious lambskinned, footmuffed, sun-canopied (very possibly dead from cot death as overheated) DS is safe as safe can be, not to mention facing my beautious face so I can whisper Japanese Haiku into his little ears. It is in a rainbow print and comes with a year's membership to Boden website, a limited edition Cath Kidston cobra print change bag and 15% off an Emma Bridgewater dinner service at John Lewis.
It has a flatwhiteylattechino holder and the tiniest front wheels you've ever seen (which is where the poison is spat from) and a handle which can also be used as a play gym.
At the end of the day, you click your fingers and it disappears into thin air. It comes with two feathered ostriches to pull it.

Thank you all for your input, which has allowed me to make such a momentous decision.

LordVolAuVent -

Liking the Cobra. I think there should be a clause in there though that they are only purchased by Boden and Birkenstock wearing mummies who latte (and only while returning from just getting a few 'bits' at the overpriced deli).

The nanna often wanted to get into the pram, as did I in the early days of sleep deprevation.

HarrietTheSpy · 20/05/2010 00:50

I adore ours. It's had a complete knackering between both DDs. The cost per use must be down to around 1p. Still looks great AND when anything has broken on it (rare), Bugaboo replaced it free of charge. We bought a Maclaren because our first nanny claimed she couldn't get the Bugaboo into her boot and then when she got converted to its joys suddenly it could fit.

It is easier to collapse the Maclaren down I admit - but we've been through two now and the Bugaboo, with much more use, is still going strong.

Would definitely buy again, given our circumstances.

Not worth it if you mostly drive though.

SarfEasticated · 20/05/2010 07:54

Do the ostriches come in co-ordinated shades, and are they organic? If so I may consider joining you.

smugaboo · 20/05/2010 07:57

I have nothing to add to this conversation except my moniker.

Oh come on Riven we have already done that - this one is only for fun dissing of the bugaboo/yummies.

posieparker · 20/05/2010 09:41

To be fair, if you are alone with a Bugaboo and small baby it would be impossible to fold it to get onto a bus....so you use a baby carrier instead!

I have a cup holder...for my homemade iced coffee.

I have an Oilily changing bag.

LadyThompson · 20/05/2010 09:50

Anyone who has got a Bugaboo parked in a space for a wheelchair and doesn't move it WHEN SOMEONE WITH A WHEELCHAIR GETS ON is a nob. Same goes if they have got suitcases parked there, or a Roman chariot.

However, I can't believe LordVaV is still stoking this. You need some sour grapes to accompany your cocktail snacks, my Lord.

SarfEasticated · 20/05/2010 10:09

Yes exactly, anyone in a wheelchair brave enough to attempt London Transport should be welcomed on the bus with a round of applause and a glass of champage. I like to think that anyone with any kind of pushchair would either fold it up or if they can't do that get off and wait for the next bus. We only have push-chair friendly transport because it is needed for wheelchair access.

Bugaboo shouts "more money than sense", but so what. If that is how people want to spend their money..

Morloth · 20/05/2010 11:13

imahappycamper Bugaboo shouts "more money than sense"

You say that like it is a bad thing.

ladylush · 20/05/2010 11:33

V funny thread. Thanks LV Ginhag - you missed the Icandy in your list. Top of the list of hates - yes, even above bugaboos
Riven - I'd get off the bus if a wheelchair user got on

madmissy · 20/05/2010 19:30

I don't do buses

ginhag · 20/05/2010 21:03

(to the tune of agadoo)

bug a boo boo boo
yummy mummies sip coffee
bug a boo boo boo
ginhag swerves into a tree
cath kidston bags and highlights
cause volauvent to seethe
wear birkenstocks on your feet
she'll be so incensed that she can't breathe!

(I thangkew )

by the way I would also get off a bus for someone in a wheelchair. If anyone is actually taking this thread at all seriously.

cfc · 20/05/2010 21:17

I am utterly smug about the fact that we got my sister's silver cross pram from her when out LO was born (she used it for her DD, it wasn't my sis's pram!).

I tell EVERYONE about the amazing bit of luck which meant that we didn't have to buy one.

Yours, Smugingly loving her second hand pram, Smugville.

SarfEasticated · 20/05/2010 21:42

Loving your work Ginhag...

LordVolAuVent · 20/05/2010 22:03

Loves it, ginhag, a song dedicated to moi! Am all smug myself now.

Sarf, of course organic colour co-ordinated ostriches, I only do organic, don't you?

Lol smugaboo

Not "stoking it" ladyT, just responding to others comments, bit of fun for most of us. Too smug to smile?

I wouldn't move out the way for a wheelchair, I was there first, what if DS is asleep? Not waking him up thanks very much Of course, I never ride buses, what with the rolls and the driver and that!

OP posts:
ladylush · 21/05/2010 09:43

What pram have you got anyway LV?

Plopsie · 23/05/2010 19:10

Ours has been fantastic and worth every penny. It has been the only one we needed although we did of course do our homework first - check whether it would suit our intended uses, fit in car boot etc and it has done us proud. Really appreciate the build quality, too. If people really do give a sh*t about other peoples' buggy choices I can only assume they have farrrrr too much time on their hands and not enough real stuff to worry about!
