AIBU to be cross with hubby for seeing other women naked in a sauna??

Hi, I am new here. Have lurked for a long time and enjoy reading through lots of threads on mumsnet.

SO, Am I being Unreasonable.

We went on holiday with friends last week and we had a sauna attached to our holiday accomodation. We had a bbq and then our friends went back to their holiday 'home' and I stayed at ours with kiddies who were asleep. Husband asked if he could go with friends to carry on drinking and chatting which I said was fine.

Next day he tells me they had a sauna, thats fine. However, I know here that 2 of the girls that were friends of our friends rather than close friends of ours, were naked.

I'm cross that he stayed, should I be?? Or should I just let it go and accept it?

Thanks in advance, its been niggling at me for days!

yabu i think unless he is the unfaithful type

pumperspumpkin · 06/05/2010 09:56

YABU. Presumably it wasn't him and a bevy of leggy lovelies? Assuming everyone is British and uptight, I bet the whole nakedness thing was a bit embarrassing.

XboxWidow30 · 06/05/2010 09:59

no not unfaithful type.

Some of his male friends got naked too, he didn't but stayed anyway.

Although the thought of some of his male friends naked makes me want to (sicky face!)

YABU. It's not like he went to a strip club or something. Accidentally seeing some naked people in a sauna is neither here nor there. There was no intent on his part IYSWIM.

OrmRenewed · 06/05/2010 10:02

YABU. Not his fault they took all their kit off. He'd have looked a right prat if he had walked out.

Tiredmumno1 · 06/05/2010 10:02

tbh i would find it strange, maybe he should have had a word with you beforehand to make sure you were fine with it.

MmeLindt · 06/05/2010 10:03

YABU

The Brits are the only ones in Europe who wear swimsuits in the sauna. Everyone else goes in the nude.

If there had been anything going on, he would not have told you.

Welcome to MN. You are brave to post your first OP on AIBU.

ImSoNotTelling · 06/05/2010 10:03

Tee hee. So he was sitting there in his underpants feeling terribly engish while people disrobed with gay abandon all aroud him.

I'd be giving him a bit of a ribbing, I think He was probably a combo of feeling rather embarassed about all his friends wobbly bits being on display, and not wanting to leave as that would appear prudish, and feeling rather daring for being in such a situation.

Maybe.

That's how I'd feel

XboxWidow30 · 06/05/2010 10:03

Why would he have looked a prat if he walked out? I would have thought that would be a sensible thing to do?

He wasn't the only one in shorts. And it wasn't him that told me, which is the anooying bit too.

Me too xbox.

and what does the unfaithful type look like??

BallpointPen · 06/05/2010 10:05

Perhaps he's not as uptight as you about nakedness?

YABU I think, he didn't ask them to take their clothes off did he?

OrmRenewed · 06/05/2010 10:06

Because he'd have looked like an uptight prude who made much too much of simple nudity.

ImSoNotTelling · 06/05/2010 10:07

I think it's funny, sorry.

l39 · 06/05/2010 10:08

How would he feel if you wanted to be naked in front of acquaintances?

I wouldn't be very happy with my dh, but then I know he'd go ballistic if I'd been either stripping off or acting as an observer.

Hullygully · 06/05/2010 10:09

Did the ladies have enormous knockers and willing smiles?

Tiredmumno1 · 06/05/2010 10:09

He could have excused himself and said he was off to bed, aint nowt strange about that.

XboxWidow30 · 06/05/2010 10:09

I wouldn't do it! I'm an uptight prude, lol!

My dh wouldn't be happy if it had been me with other men either!

If it was me, and the women concerned were younger and better looking, I would have felt a bit threatened/annoyed.

British or not, isn't it a bit nasty for a woman to actively choose to be blatantly naked in a sauna in mixed company??

Did you talk to him about it - what did he say?

XboxWidow30 · 06/05/2010 10:10

Lol, hullygully!

Haliborange · 06/05/2010 10:12

Are you meant to keep your clothes on in a sauna in the UK then? Feeling mildly embarrassed now...

XboxWidow30 · 06/05/2010 10:12

auburnlizzy78, they are younger. I probably think they are better than me cos thats the way I am feeling at the moment. Plus, I was stuck at the other place with the kids cos they were asleep (sounds about right for me!).

Haven't spoken to him about it yet but he knows I know so he is being overly nice. He won't mention it though.

Balaclavas are de rigeur in the UK, Hali

Bunnyjo · 06/05/2010 10:13

OK, I think the fact he wasn't the one to tell you about the naked women is what has made you cross. YABU to be cross with him for being in the sauna with naked men and women, but YANBU to expect him to be the one to tell you about it.

XboxWidow30 · 06/05/2010 10:15

I think you are right bunnyjo. I am probably more annoyed I found out from others. Plus, when you have just had your 4th child there is nothing like naked women flaunting themselves in front of your hubby to make you feel a bit uneasy! Lol at me!
