AIBU to be cross with hubby for seeing other women naked in a sauna??

Hi, I am new here. Have lurked for a long time and enjoy reading through lots of threads on mumsnet.

SO, Am I being Unreasonable.

We went on holiday with friends last week and we had a sauna attached to our holiday accomodation. We had a bbq and then our friends went back to their holiday 'home' and I stayed at ours with kiddies who were asleep. Husband asked if he could go with friends to carry on drinking and chatting which I said was fine.

Next day he tells me they had a sauna, thats fine. However, I know here that 2 of the girls that were friends of our friends rather than close friends of ours, were naked.

I'm cross that he stayed, should I be?? Or should I just let it go and accept it?

I thought I was fairly non-prudish, but I just don't get why it's not a bit weird for men and women to be naked in a sauna together.

For example would you happily go to a sauna with all your male and female work colleagues, including your boss, and strip off naked???

It probably is unfortuante that we have PenisDog too really. I fear we are setting a tone at home. DD will be flaunting herself when she is of an age and we will blame penises.

Yes, it is true. The Brits are the world leaders in nudity shame.

DH used to laugh at me in my M&S swimmy in the sauna while all the Germans let their salami and buns hang out.

my (non british) dh thinks absolutely nothing is wrong about going in a sauna naked with other people. his friend used to regularly go with his colleagues (men and women) on a friday after work to relax!

not been out of Britain long enough to do it myself - still got my prudish Britishness when it comes to these things but i'd have no trouble with my dh being in the sauna with other naked women!

really wish i had the european attitude to nakedness - where i could lie in the middle of the park in Munich naked and not be blushing the whole time!

When I was an aupair in Germany the father told me that on a trip to Canada he took advantage of the spa facilities. It was empty when he got there, so he got his kit off, went into the sauna then showered before relaxing in the jacuzzi.

As he sat there in the bubbly water people started arriving and he realised to his horror that they were all wearing bathing suits.

He had to sit there for HOURS until the spa was empty again so he could slink back to the changing rooms.

He said that he now knows how a bockwurst feels.

Nudity is unnatural. We have built an entire culture around that unassailable fact and a whole series of films (Carry On). We should be clothed and proud.

Used to go to a sauna in home (UK) town before it closed down. All sexes, shapes, sizes, ages in the buff. Lovely and relaxing it was. The only people who looked weird were those who didn't get their kit off.

My faves were the old ladies who walked round all wibbly wobbly with greying fanjos. They couldn't give a rats ass about how they looked. It was always the younger ones who were freaked out by the nudity. And nope, never flaunted myself / got flaunted at (by men or women. Mores the pity).

Of course Hully, i can't remember the last time i was naked, doesn't everyone keep something on at all times, of course it makes for a difficult birthing experience, but hey ho.

excellent mmelindt!!! i am amazed by german nudity!! especially my MIL who has no shame and i have therefore seen her far too many times naked! my eyes were burning!

My collegue said they did mixed nude sauna in Sweden after a work event and I was HORRIFIED

Referred this to the DH - his comment by text was "it seems to be the least attractive people who seek out opportunities to get naked in public places so there is no sexual motive, so it's mainly innocent, and hence not weird."

He may have a point, when I'm old and grey and "all wibbly wobbly with a greying fanjo" I would probably be more ok about doing it.
