Huge thing, it is. Hung from two of the upstairs windows. I HATE that. It makes the whole street look horrid. I know that might make me sound like a knob, but it just looks so tacky. My DB has just nipped over, and when I told him I hated the look of it, he laughed and said I was being a snob. Am I?

It is DIRECTLY opposite my front window, every time I look out, it is there, looming!

OrmRenewed · 05/05/2010 15:28

Yes you are being a snob.

ASecretLemonadeDrinker · 05/05/2010 15:30

SNoooooooob. I want one. I may get a car flag too. 'Chav-esque-ism' is allowed around the World Cup. Embrace it!

LoveMyBigTV · 05/05/2010 15:30

FGS its WORLD CUP year get in the spirit. You'l be seeing more of them in a few weeks.

pagwatch · 05/05/2010 15:31

The woman the other side of the Park is really tacky. She puts up her England flag every time she gets home

Poledra · 05/05/2010 15:31

Well, that's clear then - I'm a snob too. Would hate to see a flag hanging from across the road - currently only have to put up with posters of the smug gurning face of the Tory candidate.

Am not English either, though.....

firsttimemum77 · 05/05/2010 15:32

I think the problem is not with the flag looking tacky so to speak but the impression it gives people just because a minority of
idiots people use it as a symbol for hatred...so its kind of become associated with 'if you have a England Flag outside your home you must be voting BNP in the elections' - and thats ofcourse not true...but the notion is there iyswim...so then the 'tacky' side of it begins to emerge...

LOL...don't think i made a blind bit of sense there...but hope you know what I mean...

CwtchyMama · 05/05/2010 15:32

Just come back from costco & they have flag poles for sale there with a choice of the union flag of the St Georges flag.

YABU.

LoveMyBigTV · 05/05/2010 15:33

I cant wait for the first england match 12th june at 20.30 against USA USA USA USA

pagwatch · 05/05/2010 15:33

Its not snobby. Its wannabe snobby
Objecting to flags at World Cup time is like having your tv in a pretend Victorian cabinet

MillyR · 05/05/2010 15:35

How long does the World Cup go on for? When is the final?

EndangeredSpecies · 05/05/2010 15:35

YABVU. I can think of far tackier things to put outside your house. England will get knocked out after the first round anyway, then they'll take it down.

Poledra · 05/05/2010 15:36

Ah right. Wannabe snobby. So not football-ist, as is most likely in my case?

Poledra · 05/05/2010 15:36

Soccer-ist?

yabu
(and I hate footie) Pag love the lady and her flag

Hullygully · 05/05/2010 15:37

It's barking more than anything.

SleepyCaz · 05/05/2010 15:37

Haha, I suppose it is quite snobby, but I can't help it. It doesn't help that the guy who lives there is an arse too. Always outside his house 'effing and jeffing' while the children are all still awake/playing in the gardens. Had to close my front windows the other night because the bufoon was standing at the end of his drive, shouting, "What a fucking pile of shit.... he's a c*, smash him...etc" at 6pm. My DS, 4, had said, "Who is shouting all those nasty words, Mummy?" He is just the BNP type too, IMO.

Am not averse to all the flags, banners, face paints, deely boppers, t-shirts etc, that will be around over the Summer, just didn't expect a nasty flag, right in my face for months.

This a 'nice' area, you know. (wink)

Oh god NOOOOOO please don't start talking about the world cup ALREADY.

SleepyCaz · 05/05/2010 15:39

PS He was shouting into his mobile, not just at the world in general!
