Would I be unreasonable to deface this poster

BNP poster attached to railings at intersection - it says:

"People like you vote BNP"

There is just enough room to scrub out 'you' and put Nazis.

I'm seriously considering it - I'm all for democracy and I wouldn't give a rats ass if someone defaced the Tory ones with 'duck pond'.

As far as I'm concerned the leader was/is a Holocaust denier (he says he was but he's come round now) so to scribble NAZI on it is accurate and not a slur.

Go for it

EricNorthmansmistress · 23/04/2010 17:15

Bramshott · 23/04/2010 17:16

"abosolutely" [sic] - what is my spelling coming to?!

BunnyLebowski · 23/04/2010 17:16

Please do it!

thursdaynamechange · 23/04/2010 17:17

by the way I'm a pillar of the community - would I get into trouble??

OP posts:
pranma · 23/04/2010 17:19

They are everywhere here and dh wont let me go and tear them all down. One was put through our letterbox and I was in time to tear it up and put it in the bin as the canvasser was coming down nexxt door's path.I hate everything they stand for.

EricNorthmansmistress · 23/04/2010 17:20

It's a poster attached to railings! No you won't get into trouble. It's probably not supposed to be there in the first place.

A Tory poster (official one) has been defaced near my house, it now says 'vote conservative lib dem'. I think it's quite traditional for electioneering posters to be defaced!

Downdog · 23/04/2010 17:20

go for it - most reasonable thing I've heard all day!

Bramshott · 23/04/2010 17:20

I think it is your civic duty tbh - you'll have to wait until late though ! And possibly wear a balaclava!

MrsYamada · 23/04/2010 17:21

Do it. I don't think your 'but he IS a Nazi' argument will stand up in court though. But DO IT!

TheCrackFox · 23/04/2010 17:22

The police are far too busy to investigate someone writing the truth on a BNP poster. They are like the Nazis.

thursdaynamechange · 23/04/2010 17:22

It's at a seriously busy intersection - at least 50 cars will see me do it.

I just took dd for some chips and we pulled up at the intersection and she said "ooh, what a pretty poster - it's just like our cushions" (Union Jack cushions)

I hate that these fuckers have stolen the Union Jack.

OP posts:
JaneS · 23/04/2010 17:23

Do it, do it! Pleeeeese do it! All 50 car-viewers will cheer you on, I bet.

mummycake · 23/04/2010 17:24

Do it!!

MrsYamada · 23/04/2010 17:25

Go on...

MuthaHubbard · 23/04/2010 17:25

i would love to say do it too - BUT

you may get in trouble - criminal damage - as sadly they do belong to someone (or would that be something).

we had lots of calls lately reporting defacement of party posters etc and if caught you could be charged with crim damage

Disenchanted3 · 23/04/2010 17:32

You should.

Some one round our way has edited a Torie poster.

It said 'people power ...vote tory'

They changed it to 'rich people power ...don't vote tory'

violentviolet · 23/04/2010 17:32

You wouldn't be the first to do something like that...

AmazingBouncingFerret · 23/04/2010 17:35

Theres a facebook page dedicated to defaced tory campaign posters.
I say go for it.

BitOfFun · 23/04/2010 17:36

Do it do it do it. I always rip them down when I see them.

Cadelaide · 23/04/2010 17:38

done it yet?

SeaShellsOnTheSeaShore · 23/04/2010 17:49

Banksy manages to graffiti on very busy roads in London, Bristol and further- go for it!! It's asking for it, if you are worried about time stencil or pre make a stickie

( just like to point out, am not an anarchist, just hate the bnp!!)

[too scared myself but cheering you on emoticon]

violentviolet · 23/04/2010 17:54

We saw the BNP folk at their stall in the town centre recently, it was so funny, they all looked tired and a bit twitchy, and absolutely no-one was going near their stall.

rastababi · 23/04/2010 18:31

Do it!

Wear one of these to do the deed and you'll be fine
