Would I be unreasonable to deface this poster

BNP poster attached to railings at intersection - it says:

"People like you vote BNP"

There is just enough room to scrub out 'you' and put Nazis.

I'm seriously considering it - I'm all for democracy and I wouldn't give a rats ass if someone defaced the Tory ones with 'duck pond'.

As far as I'm concerned the leader was/is a Holocaust denier (he says he was but he's come round now) so to scribble NAZI on it is accurate and not a slur.

Where is the evidence that other partys don't get involved? You are talking bollocks. The labour party has put in legislation outlawing forced marriages.

I suspect that the BNP member who spat in my toddlers face and called him a fucking dirty chinky bastard was racist.

Are you happy for your children to get caned if they misbehave? Really.
Are you happy for your DCs to be forced to complete national or community service? Really?
As for the married couples allowance beng paid to the men, I mean purlease...
And don't get me started on the joint custody in every divorce argument.

As a german student, I can only say YABU for not already defacing it!!! Anyone who says the bnp are not a racist party are frighteningly deluded. The comparisons you can draw between the Nazi party and the bnp party are huge... And worrying. I think it is not a laughing matter. It is not like defacing a Tory poster.

I have not lost my mind, and i do not have a tiny little dried bean for a brain, i went back to education a few years ago and got 7 highers (scottish equiv. of A levels), as i was unable to get them at school, cause of yobs that the school had no control over, and there benefit claiming druggy parents couldn't give a flying fig what they got up to, so yes i do think the cane should be brought back, then dc from decent homes, who go to 'rough' schools (like i went to) might stand a chance. My ds knows right from wrong, and anyone else who has brought there dc up to know right from wrong, would not have to worry about it.
As for national service and community service, well if it's just for bad behaved dc, then yes i would support it.
As for married couples allowance only being for men, well ive not heard of that, but no, i wouldn't agree with that.
As for custody, well why not? fathers have rights! Dp and i seperated a couple of years ago (we're back together now) and we shared custody. Obviously in the case of abuse or any other reason that could put dc in danger, then no. However, woman can be just as abusive as men, ok, you dont hear of it as much, but it happens. But fathers who are loving and decent men should have just as much right to custody as the mother!

Ivestillgotit you are sadly deluded if you think the BNP are not racist. Did you not see Nick Griffin on the bbc early morning show this week saying that he would pay all non indiginous people to leave this country!
Incidently my DH was trying to interview him a few years ago and got called a dirty jew by one of his henchmen.

The BNP are a supremely racist party, but they have become savvier about adding (a rather odd mix of) more widely accepted policies to their manifesto, and I'm sure that does widen their appeal to those who hear their slogans about improving education or preserving green belts, say, without the racist clap-trap that goes with it. But then no doubt Hitler claimed to have policies other than genocide.

God, those leaflets are all over the estate where my mum & dad and sis and her family live.

It's vile.

Whoever did it made a point of putting them up on the lamppost outside the local shop, which happens to be run by a sri lankan family.

Whose shop is, bafflingly, called "The P**i Shop." I mean, it would be just plain ignorant and offensive if they were from Pakistan, but it is totally bewildering since they're from about 2000 miles away.

Just - predictably when pressed by the interviewer he couldn't give an answer. He also couldn't answer whether the children of non indiginous people would also be required to leave, i.e. second or third generation immigrants. He came across as a racist idiot with poorly though out policies. In the end i turned over in disgust, something about him makes me feel dirty for watching and listening to him.

Ivestillgotit i can't believe that you think caning children is acceptable. It is assault, if you hit an adult with a cane you would quite rightly be arrested as it is against the law however much you think the person might have deserved it. Children need the protection of the law more than adults if people like you think that assaulting them is ok.

Because there are more ways to be racist than through violence.

YANBU Do it and make sure it stands out!

Some people in my area think the BNP offer good solutions to problems on immigration and crime. One person I spoke with thinks they are the only party who will solve these issues and take a firm stand.

They are so shockingly naive about what this part really stands for and oblivious to the possibility of Nazi Britain if they were in power.

I have argued, lectured, shown evidence of the slow seduction/dominance of Hitler but nothing seems to sway them.

I am confident that people with reason will vote to keep them out

It is quite heartening that there are so many people here who despise them and all they stand for and just one lone voice showing them support. Come into the light ivestillgotit, it must be lonely over there on the dark side!

Maybe the racists are fewer and farther between than i imagined.

Are you honestly saying that your DCs from their perfectly decent home, never step out of line? My DCs are of course perfect and from a lovely home, but I cannot guarantee that neither of them ever step out of line and are sat outside the classroom for chatting and the like. If they were assaulted in that instance I couldn't be held responsible for my actions.
Add that to the fact that many of the behavioural problems seen in 'rough' schools are often due to witnessing violence outside the school, how is introducing violence in the school going to help?
The BNP will introduce national OR community service (you choose, how kind) and mandatory for all. Yes, that includes your nice children from their decent home.
The married couples alowance is payable only to men whether they work or not.
Finally, I disagree, no-one has rights over a child, they have there OWN rights. But both parents have responsibilities. To make joint custody the norm and to enforce that regardless of what is right for the child is wrong. You cannot deny, whatever you're experience, that seperated families have it hard enough without someone somewhere telling them what the norm should be. Each case is different just as each child is different.
I know a lot about the BNP from the last election. Their propoganda was so slick and sensationalist, I decided to research to have a measure on what this would mean for the british people. It is truly shocking what would happen if they ever get a stronghold. With proportional representation looking likely in the near future this terrifies me.
