to really and truly wish death on this person?

If I had a magic wand I would wave it and wish the most awful death I could think of on the person that kicked to death my neighbours two year old Jack Russell yesterday. He ran off through the bushes, my neighbour followed and in the couple of miuntes the dog was out of sight he was kicked/bludgeoned to death. Police have been informed but are not hopeful.

Honestly, some people should just die.

"When was the last time you heard of someone mauled to death by a Jack Russell? "

They may not maul people to death, but they do attack as this case that was on the news only last week shows.

I would never ever set out to hurt an animal, but if a strange dog on the loose went for one of my children then there is a fair chance it may get hurt because a WOULD protect & defend my children

The dog in question may have been hit by a cyclist & by the time the cyclist had picked themselves up again (having probably fallen off) the dog had disappeared & they thought it was okay & did no more about it.

Or the dog may have been battered to death by a random nutter.

Or something else

WE DON'T KNOW

IF the dog was battered by a random nutter then of course they deserve the full force of the law, uncluding a trial (innocent until proven guilty & all that) and the punishment determined under the laws of the land if found guilty.

I do not understand the "flog 'em and hang 'em" approach, we are supposed to be a civilised country.

Sukie1971 · 02/04/2010 22:57

Im not convinced its about not caring about it being an animal. Its about being a better person than the scum who does something like this, and wishing a violent and painful death on that person does not make you, in any way shape or form, a better person.

neanderthaljunglist · 02/04/2010 22:58

My arguments don't make rational sense, talking about hurting someone for hurting an animal is contradictory. But in that situation I would just want to save the dog and anger would take over.

Alouiseg · 02/04/2010 22:59

Why do people who decry capital punishment always refer to themselves as civilised?

It is something that actually haunts me.

ChippingIn · 02/04/2010 23:01

SOH - I am all for understanding human behaviour to prevent further atrocities - but not for forgiving those already committed. We all have a choice in our behaviour and nothing that has happened in our past excludes us from acting in a civilised manner.

I don't care about the murderer/paedophile/rapists 'complex reasons' or wish to challenge them - I care about making sure they wont do it again and having our legal system act as a deterrant.

Rainbowinthesky - would you feel the same if it was a child? If not, why not?

edam · 02/04/2010 23:01

There's a whole world of difference between being justifiably angry with a cruel, violent criminal and actually kicking a dog to death. Saying you want someone who causes suffering to suffer doesn't make you as bad as them. None of the people who have wished harm on this thug (if there is a thug) have actually laid a finger on him, nor would they.

KatnKankles · 02/04/2010 23:03

FFS it's a gut reaction. My nan has a yorkie... annoying little yappy thing but she's so sweet I couldn't bear the thought of her or any animal being hurt for no reason.

MorrisZapp · 02/04/2010 23:12

Personally I think that one of the marks of a civilised society is that it does not use corporal or capital punishment on it's citizens.

To do so would be uncivilised, imo.

I'm sorry if that haunts you.

Pofacedagain · 02/04/2010 23:17

this reminds me of Animal Libbers who smash people's cars up and dig up old ladies from their graves.

I had a dog as a child I adored. When my son was 3 he was attacked by a dachsund who tore through his trousers and left him scratched and bitten. My son had not even gone up to the dog, he had walked past it with me in a public toilets and the dog had been with a stupid old woman wearing a fur coat and had just gone for my ds. I am trying very hard now for my ds to get over his dog phobia.

Animal cruelty should be taken very, very seriously. Those responsible for severe animal cruelty should get prison sentences. Every dog owner should have to get a licence and enrol their dog in training classes.

But to wish upon a human being the worst death possible for killing a dog is very, very, scary. And faintly ridiculous. Wish that upon dictators responsible for genocides perhaps. Campaign for the return to capital punishment if you must. But you are never going to get capital punishment for killing an animal. Do you seriously think there should be?

junglist1 · 02/04/2010 23:19

TBH I quite like all this civilised lark. It's the first time I've been able to disagree without losing my spleen, because nobody has been personally insulting really. On AIBU aswell.
I bet by morning someone will ruin it and there'll be gasket blowing

MoreCrackThanHarlem · 02/04/2010 23:19

Edam

junglist did say she would hurt them herself, and provided evidence of her credentials in her Thai boxing cv and assurance that she's 'not from a little village, she's from tottenham'
and alouiseg would happily 'push the button'

and I agree with Morris again, wrt her comments on the definition of a civilised society.

lou031205 · 02/04/2010 23:21

Alouiseg, the poster "SMacK" is not 'Smack' either in the 'smacking' sense or 'Smack' the drug, I can assure you. It is something quite different, and nothing can be gleaned from the "SMacK"'s persuasions or views from his/her name.

MoreCrackThanHarlem · 02/04/2010 23:22

Did I ruin it, junglist?

junglist1 · 02/04/2010 23:22

I only said that because people said it would be dangerous to get involved. Not as much for me as I can handle myself was my point. And to save the animal which would be worth it

junglist1 · 02/04/2010 23:23

Don't know, we'll see (narrows eyes and waits)

There are some real idiots on this thread.

if someone kicked a dog to death in a matter of minutes then they of course should be punished, by the justice system as opposed to being put to death by the news-of-the-world-weilding nutters on this thread.

It is idiotic to suggest that someone who heard (not witnessed) a dog screaming in pain and didn't react is just as responsible for the dog's death. if I heard an animal in pain I might assume all sorts about it, that it might have got into a fight with another dog (wouldn't interveen there) that it might have got hurt somehow (might assume the owner was with it), tbh I don't think the first thing that would spring to mind would be that someone might be beating it to death.

And if you rang 999 and said "I can hear a dog screaming in pain" the police would probably say "and?"

It is perfectly possible to abhore cruelty to animals and yet at the same time be realistic about the extent to which people can or should go to protect them.

Do I think cruelty to animals is vile? Of course. Would I risk my own life for a dog? Not a chance.

junglist1 · 03/04/2010 00:04

There is no justice system.
Here we go with the "animal lovers are nutters" discourse. Just be honest and admit you don't care about animal cruelty.
And I'll tell you one thing , an idiot is the last thing I am. The very last

Having compassion for the WEAK AND DEFENSELESS makes me better.OK you know what, it's fine for people to boot animals to death. The man in my incident deserves a £50 fine if that. Fuck animals, they can't speak and are useless and worthless, and anyone who thinks otherwise is a Sun reading, idiotic specimen

tiredlady · 03/04/2010 00:12

No one here has said in any way that cruelty to animals is ok Junglist.

I don't think anyone has called the animal lovers on this thread "nutters" either.

Animal cruelty is appalling, but excuse me if I save my indignation for other things - child cruelty for example

junglist1 · 03/04/2010 00:13

You are all condoning it stop pretending otherwise.

junglist1 · 03/04/2010 00:15

You're all full of it's wrong BUT. There is no but. Either you are against it or you're not

tiredlady · 03/04/2010 00:16

where has ANYONE said it is ok to kick an animal to death?

Nonsense

ShowOfHands · 03/04/2010 00:16

And your conditions are what junglist? We only truly like animals if we want to see a man beaten/hanged?
