I can't open the kitchen windows and door or my little ones bedroom window and is soooooo warm today! Its driving me mad!

They smoke outside their house as they won't smoke inside and yet expose us to it in the process!

I think thats a reasonable request - whats your relationship like with them?

No, that isn't remotely reasonable. Sorry. I know it's annoying but they have the right to smoke in their garden

stillenacht · 13/04/2009 19:56

YABU

HairyMuff · 13/04/2009 19:57

Are they right by your windows?

random · 13/04/2009 19:57

YABVU

sparkplug · 13/04/2009 19:57

An Englishman's home is his castle. You are being unreasonable.

purepurple · 13/04/2009 19:57

yes,you are

paolosgirl · 13/04/2009 19:58

As a rabid anti smoker, I'm afraid I've got to say YABU. It's their garden, and they can smoke where they want, sadly. Unless you have a really good relationship with them, and unless they are uber easy going, I think you'll have to put up with it, sorry

tryingtobemarypoppins · 13/04/2009 20:00

Our relationship is good. I always think the situation is mad as they are a nurse, and doctor!! Its more their older children who smoke, but between them its all day every day.

My DS is poorly at the moment and in bed all day so with the warm weather is been hard - can't even hang the 100 loads of sick washing on the line as it will stink of smoke!!!!!!!!!!

You could always turn on the sprinklers

myredcardigan · 13/04/2009 20:00

I think it's vile but I don't think there's anything you can do about it other than politely explain that they're smoking outside your LOs window.

Why is it though that it's considered offensive to expose your neighbours to you shagging in the garden but not to expose them to your filthy, gross polution?

paolosgirl · 13/04/2009 20:02

If it's good then you could always try and broach the subject, and see how it goes. It must be awful for you....I sympathise.

FAQinglovely · 13/04/2009 20:02

damn you must have a very small garden if the smoke from next doors cigarettes are going to make your washing smell of fag smoke..........unless there's 50 of them sat outside smoking all day..........

tryingtobemarypoppins · 13/04/2009 20:02

I haven't been shagging in the garden myredcardigan!!! Fat chance!!

myredcardigan · 13/04/2009 20:03

I meant in society's view!

FAQinglovely · 13/04/2009 20:03

oh yea - where did the shagging in the garden come into it???

HairyMuff · 13/04/2009 20:03

Can you move your washing line away from where they stand? Is there an alternative place they can stand so it doesn't go directly into your windows(a side bit).

I'm just saying, why is one considered offensive and the other ok when clearly the shagging is far less disgusting and offensive.

tryingtobemarypoppins · 13/04/2009 20:05

Thank-you paolosgirl. Our house ends half way up their garden FAQ, they do have a 90Ft garden though so could move down a bit.

paolosgirl · 13/04/2009 20:06

At least their shagging wouldn't make your clothes stink

Maybe these are post coital ciggies? In which case, you could always suggest that they do their shagging outside (you'd close your blinds, of course) and then go back inside for their smoke? There! A win win - I am a genius!

tryingtobemarypoppins · 13/04/2009 20:06

Why can't they just ban it!!??
