YABU. I heart JR.

Leda · 30/10/2008 20:11

Yes. YABU.

needmorecoffee · 30/10/2008 20:11

yanbu. He isn't funny and is just crude. Since when is crudeness and meaness entertainment?

expatinscotland · 30/10/2008 20:12

YANBU.

He's a jobsworth who is paid millions to be funny and that best he can come up with is some lame Jerky Boys rip off.

Lowfat · 30/10/2008 20:13

Russell Brand you expect it from, by JR was very stupid.

Tell me what respectable celebs (there are some) are going to want to go on any of his shows in the future?

He has shot himself in both feet!

12 weeks unpaid suspension is not going to dent his pocket is it.

he isa laugh though, just not in these circs.

I suppose he should have been sacked as anyone common or garden person would have been out on their ear.

WhatFreshHellIsThis · 30/10/2008 20:14

I don't know. I'd like to see him fined a hefty amount of money, but I'm not sure sacking is warranted.

IAteDavinaForDinner · 30/10/2008 20:15

I'm mystified as to what the whole kerfuffle was all about. I heard the broadcast. A minor wrist-slap should have done it. I was pretty depressed to see it getting more newstime than the horrific conditions in Congo last night as if it's actually more important than starving refugee families fleeing violence.

hauntinghippipotami · 30/10/2008 20:16

forever - it is not unpaid though is it?? I read somewhere he was getting £16,000 per day whilst being suspended

pipintroll · 30/10/2008 20:16

I think YABU. JR is lovely and just got carried away by Brand and his silly antics.

TheProvincialLady · 30/10/2008 20:16

YANBU. JR is a talentless turd and I can't understand what attraction he has that makes millions of people want to watch/listen to him. He is either rude and obnoxious to his guests or nauseatingly obsequious. And he talks about himself and his revolting sex life more than he interviews the guests.

NO the BBC shuold not be making ANY decisions based on a baying mob

GrabShellDude · 30/10/2008 20:20

YABU. I bet Saturday morning will now be boring, misogonist Mark Lemarr. (sp) Unbearable.

FeelingLucky · 30/10/2008 20:20

I hate Jonathan Ross, but I do think YABU.
He made a stupid mistake which should have been picked up by his producer who should deffo get the sack.

ooh, am on the fence on this one - think JR is crude, he is sycophantic, he is overpaid but - he can also make me laugh until my eyes water. He did a really stupid thing, he has apologised. People have been sacked or suspended. Let it go now.

Think this hoo ha has been blown out of all proportion. Apparently the BBC received only 2 complaints on the day of broadcast, the rest were after the Daily Mail stirred it all up.

he's an unoriginal twat who never should have been hired in teh first place, much less paid so much.

Laugs · 30/10/2008 20:23

I haven't heard the show, but it was pre-recorded so surely the responsibility lies with the producer who made an editorial decision to broadcast it?

forevercleaningwithmybesoms · 30/10/2008 20:24

oh i am not sure now, i thought i saw a headline saying it was 12 weeks unpaid leave on teletext. will have to surf and report back.

if it is paid leave then waht a lovely 3 month christmas holiday.

noonki · 30/10/2008 20:25

Who cares, i felt sorry for the grandad, not so much for the woman who sold her story to the sun.

Jesus there are far worse things happening in the media/tv/radio. The misrepresentation of rape cases; the way that it is fine to be homeophobic if your just having a laugh; the way that black people are STILL portayed by Hollywood and beyond; the shite that passes as television for older children; the amount of mindless violence on our screens; the way that disabled people are represented (or not) in the media the list goes on and on.

and anyone of these are potentially far more harmful and upsetting for far more people than two men being rude, pathetic and childish to some man on the phone.

and there individuals that are accountable for all of the above and nothing ever happens to them.

kettlechip · 30/10/2008 20:25

Some of the BBC senior managers have had pretty forced resignations which are effectively sackings. Probably rightly so if they've failed to do their jobs properly.

I think it probably suited RB to go though, so I don't count him!
