The was an indication of my disagreement with htat.

If anyone thinks that implying that sleeping with a woman is getting one over on her, and that her grandfather should be so upset about it that he might kill himself, is not sexist, then I envy them their happy smiley world.

To those of you who think iabu......... would you have liked someone ie jr &rb to ring up your grandfather and tell him that you had had sex with rb so millions of listeners heard it.......... especially when your grandfather had already said they didnt want it to happen??

No, the bbc have not chickened out. They should stop listening to the hysterical masses and act decisively and sensibly. They should have been much quicker and much firmer with their stance.

Russell Brand is an arse and is notorious for having sex with loads of women and bragging about it. I wouldn't like it if it happened to me, but in the highly unlikely situation that it did, I'd hope I'd have the guts to fight back, make the men look like twats and make some money out of it. Which is what georgia seems to be doing.

YABU. I think the tabs are just delighted to have a story that isn't the credit crunch. Until the DM got hold of this I believe there had been 2 complaints from listeners about the swearing. Rather than the hysteria inflated 27,000 or whatever. Completely OTT

I really dont care about JR or RB or even the grandaughter! she's young and will love the publicity?...but ...what horrified me was ...anyone making a lewd and sexy joke to a grandfather about his granddaughter!!! to get the joke you'd have to understand that it was funny????....regardless of who she chooses to sleep with, thats for her to deal with, not her grandfather unless one thinks he might laugh at RB telling everyone he did his grandaughter

YANBU - haven't followed whole story or even the outcome. However no one should be paid millions by the BBC. There are so many people who would give their ears to be on television..they don't need to pay such high salaries and could maybe spend our money on making more decent programmes, documentaries etc.

DandyLioness I don't think "how much does JR bitterly regret it if he took his time apologizing publicly" should really be a measure of whether he gets the sack or not.

He has apologized where it is due.

If it had been "someone less mighty" then I'm sure nobody would have given a toss.

JR has an £18m contract. If they sack him he might be able to sue. If they end up paying him off by sacking him, it's us who'll end up paying him.

Or summat like that according to a tv chap earlier.

He is a prat. Should be amusing to see 'chastened' JR back in 3mths though.

Prat or not, the buck ultimately stopped with BBC execs, so much as I'm not a JR fan, sacking him would be tricky.

It would have been more honourable if he'd resigned, but then we're back into the 'contract' again. Maybe he can't do that without bigger complications any more than the BBC can.

to be brutally honest, I think the fact that it's true makes it less offensive/shocking/worthy of punishment.

When I first heard the news artacle I did think how horrible it was that someone would just randomly say thinks like that about people, but once the media started saying things like "georgia is just so upset and embarrassed at the hurt she has caused her family" it started to click that it was actually true.

Now I am by no means saying that she or her grandfather deserved any of this. What jr and rb did was wrong, no question.

But, if you knew someone like Brand who was known for sleeping with lots of women and then bragging about it, would you still sleep with them? You can't tell me she didn't know. And yet she still slept with him. She must have had a good idea that it would all end up in the tabloids at the very least.
