??? Do tell me???

OP posts:
Ronaldinhio · 30/10/2008 22:55

maybe i'm a conspiracy theorist but i can't imagine that these edgy two and their hordes of producers hadn't run this past Saq.

Could it be that he knew of it and then it has all gotten out of hand after the fact?

Brand will be the fall guy as no one was really bothered by his show on r2 and ross will keep his job??

bonnyb1 · 30/10/2008 23:05

Well although i am probably old enough to know better I listened to Russell Brands show most weeks and I enjoyed most of them. I think this whole situation has been pretty tasteless, but R2 must have hired him to attract a new kind of audience, to be 'edgy' and 'alternative' etc, so don't they have to accept the consequences when it backfires on them? As for JR he was trying to prove he's still down with the youth (or is it 'yout' nowadays?)
Agree with previous post about it overshadowing proper news.

Nighbynight · 30/10/2008 23:06

why on earth do you all bother discussing this pair of tossers? It only got so much gorey-details coverage from the bbc because they are given to navel-gazing!

bonnyb1 · 30/10/2008 23:13

hmm, not sure, why do you bother reading it? Guess you have nothing more pressing to attend to either! I do though, and it's called my beauty sleep (I have much catching up to do). Night all

Nighbynight · 30/10/2008 23:27

well I can hardly miss it this evening on mn, can I.
have had rotten day and am trying to unwind, and see loads of thread titles about a couple of spoilt brats.

pipintroll · 31/10/2008 00:02

No they wouldn't deste.

Because it probably wouldn't have been on the front page of the DM last Sunday.

And 29,998 other people would not have stuck their oar in.

Laugs · 31/10/2008 09:37

Now the head of R2 has been sacked/ resigned (can't remember). Gone way too far IMO.

AbbaFan · 31/10/2008 09:40

It's all so OTT.

However I hate JR, so if he loses work out of it - great news. He can get a real job for all I care, so I don't have to see his face on TV ever again.

trixiethepixie · 31/10/2008 09:44

It's all blonw out of porportion.

RB is a penis. However it has done him no harm leaving the BBC - his new show starts on channel 4 this week.

JR - if he decides to leave would simply just go to another channel. It wouldn't make any difference if he was fired

If anything, this stunt, has simply made them more infamous and probably more sought after.

Cremolatorium · 31/10/2008 09:44

Channel 4 must be rubbing their hands with glee.

Peachy · 31/10/2008 09:47

I'm with Wannabee (an think cremola is bang on too) but got slated yesterday (although that primed me perfectly for a massive hoohah for Dh so they did me a favour)

He's on a final warning ad has been employed there many, many eyars. Its also costing him 1.5 million.

darkpunk · 31/10/2008 09:50

i think it will make them even more "edgy" (gettin sacked has benefits sometimes) RB didn't seem bothered and probably has a new job already ...JR is ok...if you don't like them you dont have to listen to them.....i don't think either of them should have gone...all been blown out of propotion......not everyone that listens to the radio wants terry wogan.

rebelmum1 · 31/10/2008 10:02

I think he should go but this is mainly because I agree with OP in that he is an overpaid windbag

rebelmum1 · 31/10/2008 10:03

Actually I do feel obliged to listen to JR to get my money's worth ...

rebelmum1 · 31/10/2008 10:05

Surely the controller should go too, he's not done a good job of controlling things has he? The Queen's editing, the theft of millions from phone ins, overpaid windbags and now offending grandads ..

VictorianSqualor · 31/10/2008 10:06

I agree with Wannabe.

The girl is a burlesque dancer who works with a group by the name of 'Satanic Sluts' and is also a dominatrix called Miss Voluptua (allegedly).

She has since splashed herself over newspapers talking in depth about her romps with Russell. She actually had the show LINKED ON HER MYSPACE PAGE saying 'Russell Brand gives the Satanic Sluts a mention'.

Not exactly the work of someone 'offended' IMO. oh, of course, until the media circus was whipped into a frenzy and she realised being 'hurt' might work better for her career.

It's ridiculous, everyone has a say on it and everyone is commenting to the papers. In the papers today it mentions Davina McCall, Noel Gallagher, David Walliams, Steve Coogan, Victoria Wood and more, all getting in on the act. Even the Prime Minister had something to say!

rebelmum1 · 31/10/2008 10:08

Can I also take this opportunity to say that 'NO, Steve Wright we don't 'love the show!!' Stop it writing in to yourself and I am utterly convinced that the Sunday Love Songs is completely made up and no-one can be that soppy or even be certain that their loved one is listening at that precise moment the record is played .. who on earth could be glued to this awful show every sunday?!

rebelmum1 · 31/10/2008 10:10

Down with overpaid windbags!

exasperatedmummy · 31/10/2008 10:15

here here, rebelmum, and while we are on the subject of overpaid windbags - Gordy seems to be keeping his head down doesn;t he.

My baraometer of world events and politics (8 out of ten cats) had no mention of the credit crunch last night - but manuelgate was right there at the top So, a bloody great big thankyou to the windbags who, whilst are generally irritating and offensive, don't hold my financial future in their hands, for stopping everyone from talking about the fucking credit crunch

Maybe they work for the labour party and have been employed by Gordy's spin doctors to shift the limelight

exasperatedmummy · 31/10/2008 10:18

You do all realise what is going to happen though don't you. I am willing to bet, oooh, £5.75, that Ms Sachs will be on the next serious of "i'm a celebrity get me out of here"

exasperatedmummy · 31/10/2008 10:19

next serious???? I need more caffeine

rebelmum1 · 31/10/2008 10:21

oo you're so sceptical

annoyingdevil · 31/10/2008 11:08

Isn't this part of a wider problem that misogyny is still the acceptable face of discrimination in our society.

I'm sure there would have been many more than 2 complaints if it had been a homophobic or racist attack.

Buzzcocks, Have I got News, Mock the Week etc. etc. Sexist progammes made by the BBC.

rebelmum1 · 31/10/2008 11:11

?

rebelmum1 · 31/10/2008 11:12

erm there's been 30,000 complaints and it was more to do with grandad hating wasn't it? Not sure of the term for this..
