Yes, men or women. How do you go places? It's so limiting not to be able to drive. I live in London, but I sometimes want to go somewhere else. Perhaps it's because I was brought up in a place where if you didn't drive you couldn't go anywhere unless you relied on others.

NotCod · 30/09/2008 15:27

uqd i did offer medical get out of jail free cards in teh OP

"It's not about car worship, unquiet dad, it's about not pulling your weight in a relationship ."

PLEASE explain that!

zippitippitoes · 30/09/2008 15:27

if its not pulling your weight then women who cant drive are unattractive too

i dont understand why it is sexy/.. i mean its not hard it doesnt require intelligence or fitness

Skramble · 30/09/2008 15:27

It might be annoying when it comes to family life, but don't see it as unattractive.

NotCod · 30/09/2008 15:28

What a bizarre thing to find unattractive! I find meanness with money, small hands (ugh) and excessive jocularity (fart jokes and the like) unattractive, but never considered ability or lack thereof to drive a blardy car to be something for consideration. It's not like you can tell from the outside, or anything...

I have two brothers, both in their thirties, neither of whom can drive.

Both single...

I never made the connection before... never occurred to me to put ability to drive on the list of must haves for partners.

Of my Mum, three siblings and I, I am the only driver. It can be a right royal pita at times.

saint2shoes · 30/09/2008 15:30

unquietdad is right

MorningTownRide · 30/09/2008 15:31

chunkychips - Dh and I don't own a car. We go by train if we 'want to get out of London'

Attractiveness has nothing to do with it, it's just hugely lazy and annoying if one partner can't/won't drive and refuses to learn. I don't care what anyone says the other one, at times ends up ferrying them about or doing all the (tiring and boring) driving on long journeys.

Very life limiting IMO. I have a friend who's partner refuses to have lessons and it bugs the shit out of me that he's so lazy, never mind her.

zippitippitoes · 30/09/2008 15:32

so a man who is banned from driving

attractive or unattractive

you mad women

Tamarto · 30/09/2008 15:32

Yes, of course i forgot, the only reason people don't learn to drive is because they are lazy!

NotCod · 30/09/2008 15:33

a banned man i can tell you from EXTENSIVE research on the matter is cross
partic middle aged ones

" call this justice " they holler from teh back of court

Skramble · 30/09/2008 15:33

exH drove a big manly van and sped about in a manly fashion, not at all attractive bit sad really, but at least I don't have to put up with it.

banned from driving, eurgh.

even more unattractive than undriving man or scooter riding man.

ladytophamhatt · 30/09/2008 15:36

Not only does Dh drive cars but had a motorbike until recently and drives Trains for a living.

He's sooo manly

Skramble · 30/09/2008 15:36

I didn't learn to drive until I was mid 20's, simply didn't have the cash to pay for lessons let alone buy a car and run it.
