No, UQD. I would prefer the 'type' who pootles along country lanes at 30mph on his way to Tesco, or taking the kids to their climbing class.

MrsMattie · 30/09/2008 15:14

I agree@OP.

Men who cant drive. And men older than early 20s who live with their parents.

UnquietDad · 30/09/2008 15:15

And I neither a veggie nor a socialist, and do not possess a scooter.

MorningTownRide · 30/09/2008 15:15

What an odd thing to find unnattractive.

tarantula · 30/09/2008 15:15

dp cant drive. But then neither can I. Not a problem to me. We cycle everywhere.

So in agreement with UQD on this.

UnquietDad · 30/09/2008 15:18

It seems it's OK to find it attractive when you want to (WHY? a car is just a piece of metal and plastic) and then wonder why a certain type of man gets all macho and possessive and stupid about being a Big Man Driver. And almost mows you down when you are walking the kids to school. You all contribute to the culture of car-worship which you then decry when it suits you.

zippitippitoes · 30/09/2008 15:18

i dont find socialists veggies or men who cant drive unattractive for those reasons

you are odd

surely personality and looks are the attractgive bits

there are millions of unattractive car drivers of bopth sexes

janx · 30/09/2008 15:19

Wow you lot are v harsh...my dp hates driving - we live in London - he cycles everywhere and has great calf muscles - now that is attractive . He also is v good at map reading and I am rubbish at it - so I don't mind driving

MorningTownRide · 30/09/2008 15:19

Ever seen Crash (the JG Ballard version)??

UnquietDad · 30/09/2008 15:19

Although I partly suspect this is just Cod being Cod and being a bit mischievous for the sake of it. I suspect she knows perfectly well there are good medical reasons for some people.

MrsMattie · 30/09/2008 15:20

I didn't say I find men who don't own cars attractive. It's the men who can't drive thing that is a turn off.
Sorry - just not sexy.

I was reared on boyfriends picking you up and taking you sailing off into the sunset in their motor, though - not wheeling you off on their tandem or paying your bus fare!

Threadwworm · 30/09/2008 15:21

(I don't find non-driving men unattractive. Just, in our household, a nuisance.)

noddyholder · 30/09/2008 15:21

My dp only passed his test when we had been together 8 or 9 yrs Never bothered me

MrsMattie · 30/09/2008 15:21

Sorry, what I mean is I don't care if a man actually owns a car or not that much, but to not be able to drive...? Not sexy.

I think that's clear, now. (Sorry, am brainless and inarticulate right now).

HuwEdwards · 30/09/2008 15:21

I just can't imagine it tbh..

Weegiemum · 30/09/2008 15:22

What about women who can't drive?

Is that unattractive?

Disclaimer: I can't drive!

UnquietDad · 30/09/2008 15:22

What is "sexy" or otherwise about driving?

saint2shoes · 30/09/2008 15:22

my dh can drive. but due to medical reasons can't . and there is nothing unattractive about him
one the other hand people judging a man by whether he drives or not.........

Skramble · 30/09/2008 15:23

My partner doesn't drive, never had to he lives in the middle of a big city where it is easier and often quicker jumping on a bus.

He is def not a socialists veggy or whatever.

He wants to take lessons next year as now he has fond me he has a reason to drive out of the city and he says he will be quite happy with a little car, so I think unlike a few men I know with large fancy cars he seems happy with his manliness .

zookeeper · 30/09/2008 15:23

My ex dp lost his licence years ago and never bothered to reapply - it was a huge issue and a major factor in our splitting up

It's not about car worship, unquiet dad, it's about not pulling your weight in a relationship .

WorzselMummage · 30/09/2008 15:23

I just posted n the other thread..

Men who can drive = weird ( and unnattractive )

Men should be ale to drive, sail, ride horses and fix pushbikes.. if not they are failures.

Skramble · 30/09/2008 15:24

Just thinking last man I had a thing for only learned to drive at the age of 30+ so perhaps I have a thing for men without driving licenses.

starzzz · 30/09/2008 15:25

Scooter drivers.....veggie?? errrr... why would someone think that??

bran · 30/09/2008 15:26

I'm definitely going to show DH this thread. I've been trying to force him to learn to drive for over 2 decades now. I find it so annoying that he just won't.

I'm forced to admit that he is very attractive nevertheless, I don't particularly think the ability to drive and knowing what to do in bed are linked. But knowing what I know now I might have thought twice about asking him out on that first date 24 years ago. (Actually, it probably wouldn't have made any difference, it wasn't supposed to be a long term relationship.)

noddyholder · 30/09/2008 15:26

def not linked to sex
