Chinese takeaway

Partner A & B agreed they would feed their child a bit earlier tonight after a hectic week of Halloween discos and clubs, then the grown ups would have a takeaway for dinner once said child is asleep.

Partner A picks what they would like from the takeaway menu, sends to Partner B before starting bedtime.

Partner B knows the takeaway is usually really quick midweek, but takes around an hour on a weekend. Partner B goes ahead and orders the food (including what was requested).

Partner A is unhappy that the order is placed before the child is asleep (and therefore may come before they are ready) and wants to cancel the full order. Partner B calls the takeaway to ask to postpone delivery, which they are happy to do. Partner A no longer wants the takeaway and is making a sandwich for dinner instead.

Is Partner A unreasonable?

Is calling a restaurant to delay a delivery a thing now?

Partner A is a mardy arse

BunkBedsArePeopleShelves · Yesterday 19:39

Partner A is being a dick.
If it comes too early you just put it in a warmed oven. Why so fucking dramatic?

Crunchymum · Yesterday 19:39

Leave partner A to it and have their order for lunch tomorrow.

MintTwirl · Yesterday 19:39

Absolutely unreasonable.

HappyViewer · Yesterday 19:40

Partner A can enjoy their sandwich and partner B can have a good scoff of the Chinese.

OlderGlaswegianLivingInDevon · Yesterday 19:40

How childish.

TonTonMacoute · Yesterday 19:40

Is Partner A 14 years old? If not they need to grow the fuck up.

AutobanTicket · Yesterday 19:40

Yep

Partner A is weird

I’d be very annoyed if the food arrived too early. It would
make me anxious about the bedtime routine. I despise cold food. Chinese does not reheat the same. I would expect B to eat a piece of cheese or something of B was that impatient.

BunkBedsArePeopleShelves · Yesterday 19:43

Partner b should eat ALL the food, and ask how As sandwich was.

StrangerOnline · Yesterday 19:45

A is a total drama queen (even if they’re male). Are they always this stroppy?

And the Chinese were happy to delay delivery…so no problem.

TeenLifeMum · Yesterday 19:46

Just pop the oven on and keep it hot in there 🤷🏻‍♀️ A is ridiculous.

PinkyFlamingo · Yesterday 19:47

Of course!

Zippidydoodah · Yesterday 19:48

Ridiculously unreasonable, and also a bit of a twat.

Maeve0098 · Yesterday 19:50

I don’t think partner A is just annoyed about the Chinese. It’s likely a deeper issue than that.

XDownwiththissortofthingX · Yesterday 19:54

Partner A justified in being a bit annoyed Partner B didn't have the wherewithal to realise ordering there and then would mean the food coming too early, but that's easily resolved, so the resulting "I don't want Chinese now" strop is ridiculous, and the sort of petted-lip histrionics you expect from toddlers.

The only appropriate and sensible response now is for Partner B to make a big show of devouring their Chinese a few inches from Partner A's face, while making all sorts of "mmmmmmm" noises and continually reiterating how amazing it is. Bonus points if you can get in a "this is so much better than a sandwich" before Partner A explodes.

sprigatito · Yesterday 19:57

There’s not enough there to draw a conclusion. Either A is controlling and petty, or they are at the end of their rope with B’s weaponised incompetence and close to ending the relationship.
