That was the mistake I made, I was thinking I Should have done bedtime at 7.30 (which would have normally been 8.30) but was getting confused by comments on here. Dc ended up falling asleep straightaway at 8.30, obviously was exhausted. I guess it will all depend on the wake up time 🤞

Not surprised he was knackered. His body thought it was 9:30!! Poor kid.

It technically was 9.30

😂 You're too funny op
Slightly invested in the time your dc wakes up in the morning now 😆

shuggles · 25/10/2026 21:14

@Wheredidcottoneyedjoecomefromandwheredidhego Because now it's 7.30, but is it really 8.30? My Dc normally goes to bed at 8.30. If I wait until 8.30 now, it will really be 9.30

Right now, it's really 21:15. The UK is currently in its correct timezone of GMT.

The summer time zone (which now would be 22:15) is an artificial timezone which is forced upon us by a government which believes that jetlag should be inflicted upon the entire population twice a year for absolutely no reason.

What does that mean though? Should they go to bed later then and why am I tireder today

You are more tired today because you have effectively slept in, which makes people feel a bit groggy.

DontLiveByTheClouds · 25/10/2026 21:14

Wheredidcottoneyedjoecomefromandwheredidhego · 25/10/2026 21:12

It technically was 9.30

Sigh. No. There is no technically. It is now 9:14. But our bodies will feel like it is 10:14 So you kept him up an hour longer than you should have.

PissTakePeg · 25/10/2026 21:14

Were you just invented this year OP? Surely nobody has grown to adulthood and had children but never known what do to when the clocks change, or even understand how it works.

I have genuinely never considered what to do and that's why each year is a shit show for a while
Who told you what to do

OP posts:
HewasH2O · 25/10/2026 21:24

But your child has been getting older each year and is less dependent upon a specific bedtime. When they were younger it didn't matter anyway as they couldn't tell the time.

A seven year old should be able to do slightly later nights and early morning. He isnt a baby that has set naps. A 3 year old will wake you up in the morning, a 7 nearly 8 year old should be able to see the time and know not the wake the house

No.

7yos should be resilient to an hour either side of bed time with no issue.

This has to be a joke - get a grip! Isn’t it also half term most
places? Have you never been on holiday in a different time zone - that’s fun!

PuppyMonkey · 25/10/2026 21:33

What time are you getting up tomorrow OP, the real time or the technical time? Grin

Guys come on now this is almost definitely someone with too much time on their hands sipping their wine and laughing at everyone being trolled
