We’ve had the exact same, although I did set up a timed feeder to dispense a little bonus breakfast in the early hours.

So should they go to bed earlier?

It's all going to get messed up.

It happens every single year.

LilyBunch25 · 25/10/2026 20:53

Wheredidcottoneyedjoecomefromandwheredidhego · 25/10/2026 19:28

The lack of sleep. It will mess it all up and behaviour may change.

Blimey.....

YouBelongWithMe · 25/10/2026 20:54

We're usually in bed for about 10.15pm. tonight we're aiming for 9.40pm.

Buzzlightfear · 25/10/2026 20:54

Wheredidcottoneyedjoecomefromandwheredidhego · 25/10/2026 19:34

But is their usual time now or 8.30, because 8.30 is really 9.30

Yes so when they get up at say 7am tomorrow, it wouldn't been 8am. So they've had the same sleep.

Honestly my dog is confused because his dinner is an hour late. He'll have figured it out by tomorrow. And he's really stupid, even by dog standards.

The loss of one hour per night will f up behaviour

Per night???! Yep this is a wind up.

I'm not surprised their behaviour is messed up if you make this much fuss about their clocks changing. They got an extra hour sleep last night. They haven't lost anything.
Maybe you just need to calm down and your kids will too. The time is what it says on the clock so put them to bed at normal time.
I didn't even think about it just put DS to bed at normal time
Isn't it half term this week so it doesn't really matter if their sleep schedule is messed up ( but there's absolutely no reason why it will be).

I can hear yawning downstairs, now i'm worried we've gone over. Going to do bedtime now, whether it's the right time or not, my instinct is telling me it's better to

Is it? Should give you time to think up your next pretend comment I suppose.

Your child might not be as sensitive as mine.

Poor kid must exist in your house (what with all your worriting and your apocalyptic fears) very much as a sparrow does on the branch outside: constantly in anticipation of a nervous breakdown!

GertrudePerkinsPaperyThing · 25/10/2026 20:57

Enjoying the breathing space of having an extra hour!

But then there are no small children here.

Kez145 · 25/10/2026 20:03

I feel like I have missed something. Have I entered the twilight (time) zone?

Nope. Just the wind up thread zone. Because absolutely no way on this earth is this real.

LilyBunch25 · 25/10/2026 21:00

Millytante · 25/10/2026 20:38

Confusing for those recently arrived from Mars, though.

I'm so sorry op, but 'losing an hour per night' is making me laugh 😅

My cat already thinks she's a Baggins and tries for a second breakfast every day 😅

I have to congratulate @Wheredidcottoneyedjoecomefromandwheredidhego for managing to keep this batshit pisstake thread going for so long.
So many posters earnestly trying to explain the concept of time to the obstinately obtuse OP... hilarious.

DontLiveByTheClouds · 25/10/2026 21:04

My God. My heart rate is rising I had to stop, reading the posts from @Wheredidcottoneyedjoecomefromandwheredidhego .

My animals have been acting as if the clocks didn't change.

What you do is you put your kids as close to their normal bedtime as possible. Their bodies will think it is 8pm when it is actually 7pm. They'll wake up whenever and then tomorrow put them to bed at the normal time. It is then the real time. It doesn't stay different for six months!

Nemorth · 25/10/2026 21:06

Ok. I can’t anymore. They aren’t coming to lose (or gain) an hour a sleep a night. The clock changes happens twice a year. Spring forward, fall back.

follow the time on the clock OP. Put them to bed at 8:30 (20:30) and wake them up at the normal time. Say 7 (07:00). Count the hours between the two it’s still 10.5 hours. That’s plenty.

24 months old? 🙄

It’s Parmesan

JoyousWriter · 25/10/2026 21:07

Take my clothes off, get in, wait for the cat to jump on my feet, go to sleep.

That was the mistake I made, I was thinking I Should have done bedtime at 7.30 (which would have normally been 8.30) but was getting confused by comments on here. Dc ended up falling asleep straightaway at 8.30, obviously was exhausted. I guess it will all depend on the wake up time 🤞

My babies sleep is so shit that it won't make a difference here...silver lining and all that

Nemorth · 25/10/2026 21:09

There’s only 24 hours in a day OP. Do you think we lose one when the clocks change? We don’t. Please tell me you are just a bit confused and not a bit dumb!
