Just that really

OP posts:
Babayagahaha · 25/10/2026 20:22

A child with an 8.30 bedtime shouldn't be this sleep sensitive. Otherwise you have a child with a ridiculously late bedtime for their age, or a ridiculous sleep sensitivity for their age.

Wheredidcottoneyedjoecomefromandwheredidhego · 25/10/2026 19:29

No but it will be one less every night as it's all changed

It really won’t!

How did you cope last year and previous years before that assuming you haven’t just arrived in the UK or indeed, the planet?

Fgfgfg · 25/10/2026 20:24

Well the cats have been pissed off. They're usually fed at 7am and 7pm so today we've had protest marches around the house and a full blown riot in the kitchen. It's like living in France.

SuddenDaredJelly · 25/10/2026 20:25

I put my kids to bed a little "late" last night (probably 20 mins or so). Then will put them to bed tonight around 20 min early, then tomorrow just on normal time. I find if i spread the change in hour over 3 nights we barely notice it.

TheLambtonWorm · 25/10/2026 20:28

Fuck sakes man, your future parenting is going to be fucking awful if you get this hung up on something like the clocks changing.

PrettyLittleRose · 25/10/2026 20:28

wwyd2026 · 25/10/2026 19:47

Yes…?! What else could it mean 😂

He is 2 years old. 😆

Wheredidcottoneyedjoecomefromandwheredidhego · 25/10/2026 19:23

Because now it's 7.30, but is it really 8.30?
My Dc normally goes to bed at 8.30. If I wait until 8.30 now, it will really be 9.30 and they'll be exhausted in the morning

Exhausted??

Its one hour.

Ah! On threads where development/ sleep/ behaviour is discussed, months are usually used up until the age of around three.

Because there is a huge difference, developmentally, between a child who is 24 months and one who is 35 months, despite, as you say, them both being two 😊

A child who is 35 months old is 2 years and 11 months old.

Are you going to keep saying this forever? When he's 17 years old are you going to say he is 204 months old?! 😂

SerendipityCat · 25/10/2026 20:31

Please - someone reassure me that the op's having a little gentle fun at everyone's expense...please? My faith in the UK education system is already a little shaky, and this thread is undermining it even further.

Wheredidcottoneyedjoecomefromandwheredidhego · 25/10/2026 18:58

But haven't they lost an hour. I can't work it out

No, they gained an hour. Spring forward, fall back.

That or she has additional needs (I’m saying that kindly as I work with children with that and see anxious rigid behaviours and thoughts).

I still wonder why this time around is any different to previous ones, i mean we all know what what is going on but -10 /10 for logic, I mean they could have made it partly believable

Wheredidcottoneyedjoecomefromandwheredidhego · 25/10/2026 19:16

So should they go to bed earlier?

It's all going to get messed up.

It’s ONE bedtime, so sticking to their normal time of 7.30 pm or whatever it is tonight won’t disarrange their little body clocks at all.

Millytante · 25/10/2026 20:38

FieryA · 25/10/2026 19:35

Lol, it is! Why are you getting so worked up over an hour?

Confusing for those recently arrived from Mars, though.

The answer to your question is in the post you quoted Wink

My eldest one was planted on my chest when I woke up, and she was clearly outraged.
But I outwitted her! I brought up her bowl and favourite nosh last night so she was served without delay, right in my bedroom.
That’ll learn her…..Feck. Now she’ll expect it all the time.

The loss of one hour per night will f up behaviour

How is it a loss of one hour per night? We haven't suddenly gone to 23 hour days? Surely this is a piss take?

Debbie196 · 25/10/2026 20:48

Wheredidcottoneyedjoecomefromandwheredidhego · 25/10/2026 19:28

The lack of sleep. It will mess it all up and behaviour may change.

Plus it’s a full moon tonight, and that affects behaviour. Emergency services know this as a fact.🤔

arethereanyleftatall · 25/10/2026 20:07

How - On earth - Do you think they will lose an hour? Given than we gain a hour in autumn. Can you explain using numbers because I cannot fathom your thinking whatsoever.

Can you imagine OP’s posts on MN in 1752!
(When the Julian calendar was finally changed to the Gregorian to align with continental Europe, and this meant slicing eleven days from September. She’d have gone clean round the bend)

[I bet my 1752 data is all wrong, by the way. Long time since I thought of it. But it was something like eleven days in the September of that year. Or another year? Maybe it was three months in January?]

We’ve had the exact same, although I did set up a timed feeder to dispense a little bonus breakfast in the early hours.

Foundress · 25/10/2026 20:51

I have just had a ridge tile blown off my roof tonight. I felt quite cross about it. This thread has really cheered me up. MN at its best 😂.
