Partner wants half for hotel ….

luluxxx · Yesterday 09:28

My partner said that it’s his friends birthday next month and he’s having a get together.
Now his friend lives in Manchester and we live in Edinburgh
He said he would book the hotel for us.
To then tell us we need to meet them at 1pm that day so we would need to go for 2 nights.
The night before is partners birthday.
So he said we can turn it into 2 nights.
I assumed he was paying for the 2 nights in hotel

Nope today I asked him and he said he assumed I would be paying for the 1st night as it was his birthday (bare in mind in September I paid £450 for flights to go to Spain for his birthday ) I mentioned this and he said “that wasn’t my birthday was it really ,just a trip”

Its caused a massive argument as he was just shouting saying I really expected him to pay for his birthday night hotel.
I have to buy his gifts (he has picked £100 trainers ) which is fine but he will want hoodie etc too
Then when we are there we are going for a meal (which I will have to Pay for as at his birthday)
Its also our first holiday payment this month

was I wrong to think he would pay ?
Also he gets a lot more wages than me ..probably around £740 a month more

I suggest you go back to the other (many) threads you have made about this prince of a man and re-read the advice given.

Agreed.
And then they are surprised when they end up with the mean, nasty, greedy, abusive duds of men.🤷🏻‍♀️

Yep. They see those early signs, ignore them, have children with these men and then realise that they have lumbered themselves and their kids with an inadequate loser. Continue to ignore that and give and give until they are worn down and a shell of themselves. Cycle repeats with the next generation.
Same old, same old.

Oh really?
Its one of those multiple thread posters about an ongoing prick.

Sounds about right.
It's never in isolation.🙄.
Some women can't or simply refuse to be helped.
Tragic really.

mybiggreenfrog · Yesterday 13:58

I'd say we can go halves. Send the trainers back abc ding buy a hoody. His present was a flight to Spain ... if not he needs to refund you through money.

MyDeftDuck · Yesterday 14:18

“I have to buy his gifts (he has picked £100 trainers ) which is fine but he will want hoodie etc too”…………” I want never gets”!
It does seem like you e bagged yourself a spoilt, self centred moron OP!

@MrsPinkSkyhe isn’t “taking” me anywhere ..it’s all friends and partners ,it’s not a lads night out

I wouldn't even be going.

burntorange21 · Yesterday 15:03

So because it’s his birthday you need fo pay for everything! He is very entitled and a twat to boot

whistlesandbells · Yesterday 15:27

It’s perfectly possible to get a train from Edinburgh at 8:30am and arrive around Noon in Manchester. You don’t need two nights. That’s a lie you don’t need to pay for OP.

KTMeetsTheRsUptown · Yesterday 16:38

I'd want him to pay half towards the Spanish trip, as he said "it wasn't for his birthday it was just a trip" and I'd let him go to this one on his own then have a serious think about your relationship. He sounds like a CF

Bananalanacake · Yesterday 17:31

Does he bring anything positive to your life.

Brokentoes85 · Yesterday 18:04

Ge can pay. I don't give af if it wasn't his birthday in September or if he wants a hoodie too. He can get fucked.

She didn’t even want to stay in the hotel! He’s the one who insisted!

Why is it shameful for her to not pay for something she didn’t want to do?

When he invited her to the concert he didn’t say it was on the condition of them staying in a hotel and paying half. OP wanted to get the train home.

Is that what you would do? Invite someone some where and days or weeks later ask them for half?

Unless he kidnapped her (in which case call the police) then she agreed to go and stay in the hotel (and got the benefit of it) so she should have expected to cover her costs.

If a friend and I agreed to spend the night in a hotel room, I'd expect us to split the cost, yes. If I was intending to treat them as a birthday gift or similar, I'd let them know up front. I would not be happy with dmsomeone just assuming I'd pay their share because I'd suggested something.

Edited

Then why didn’t he expect to cover his own costs when they went on holiday to Spain ? OP booked it for his birthday and covered all the costs but he ended up telling her it was ‘just a holiday’ and nothing to do with his birthday. So he should have paid half, no ?

JetFlight · Yesterday 18:52

What’s the financial set up like generally in your relationship? It sounds like it’s quite unbalanced.

Wow this is shocking, how do people put up with men like this, how can you even look at him never mind consider actually buying him all this stuff.

the man’s using you like a cash point, have some dignity and tell him to fuck off as yoh don’t pay for cock,

We were talking about a different poster, who dumped her boyfriend, and called him tight for expecting her to go halves on the hotel room they shared on a night out, not the OP. Apologies, I didn't mean to derail the thread, I can see why it was confusing.

JellyIegs · Yesterday 22:49

First time I’ve ever said it here, LTB! Wanting trainers and a hoodie, is he 13?

Can you imagine spending all your life like this, arguing about who pays for what and why? I couldn’t be arsed with it, especially when he’s trying to get you to pay for him to meet up with his friend.

MzHz · Today 08:58

What’s the set up here? How long have you been with him? Had he ever pulled this kind of crap before?

if the Spain trip was just a trip, he owes you half. In which case HE can fund this upcoming trip

how he’s treating you ISNT the way a decent person treats someone they’re supposed to love.
