If the UK is on the brink of war, we are screwed.

We're not on the brink of war at all and we've had far worse governments than this one.

HeddaGarbled · 25/10/2026 01:20

Don’t be ridiculous.

GrapeLipBalm · 25/10/2026 01:26

Rubbish. The Tories accidentally bumbled out of the single market the last time we trusted them with the economy. They also wrecked public services. At least this one has the courage to say that putting up trade barriers between ourselves and Europe was a dumb idea and we need to reverse that.

HeddaGarbled · 25/10/2026 01:28

What war’s that then?

Sunshineandrainbow · 25/10/2026 01:30

Yabu

Anewusernametoday · 25/10/2026 01:30

I agree

deadpantrashcan · 25/10/2026 01:32

Absolutely unreasonable.

Absolutely.

GarlicEverything · 25/10/2026 01:36

If we are on the brink of war (I don't think it's imminent), then it wouldn't be the fault of the Labour government!

You might want to direct your venom at the Russian government, the protest agitators across Europe (who may possibly be employed by the Russian government) or the US government, the Iranian government ... not ours, though. They haven't set fire to any public buildings or made any first strikes against other nations.

Username1981 · 25/10/2026 01:41

We’re NOT on the brink of war. FFS get some perspective!

I think they’re doing a pretty good job.

Namechangee11 · 25/10/2026 01:42

What a stupid thing to say.

KenAdams · 25/10/2026 01:48

Inserts here post with non factual statement or explanation in response.

TooBigForMyBoots · 25/10/2026 01:49

Oh ffs.🙄

GettingThereEveryDay · 25/10/2026 01:49

So the 3 day emergency prep is not about the threat of supplies being cut off by Putin?

It could be anything - cyber attack, extreme weather, solar flare, the list goes on. And the war in Russia is hardly the fault of the Labour government is it?

LindaJonesJustCantLiveMYLifeNSoul · 25/10/2026 01:59

Aye because cyber attacks have only just started since Labour took over.
Oh and every thing was so rosie two years ago.
Russia has dicked about with the UK for years.

I’m not saying it’s the fault of this government but if we are in a world crisis, we are basically being governed by a bunch of amateurs

Indeed. And they are smelling weakness which makes us extremely vulnerable to attack

You don't get sarcasm do you
I wasn't agreeing with you.🤯

Friendlygingercat · 25/10/2026 01:06

Successive governments have drawn the attention of Russia by backing bloody Ukraine without any public mandate. Time we had a public referendum on this or better still moved to direct representation. Time to dump the cold fashioned. slow and unrepresentative parliamentary democracy whereby we elect 6500 tossers to sit on their backsides in an old fashioned building and talk. In this age of universal smartphones we have the technology to move to something better and faster.

Erm. Yes I know you weren’t. I was saying that I agree with YOU that Russia has been “dicking” with the UK for years. And my point is that the current government is such a shambles that it makes us extremely vulnerable to attack now.

you are being very rude and condescending btw

OP posts:
JacJac77 · 25/10/2026 01:10

Shambles how exactly?

Gingernaut · 25/10/2026 01:12

Truss tanked the economy in under 50 days

BoJo mismanaged the Covid pandemic, which destroyed thousands of lives

David Cameron brought about Brexit

John Major presided over an absolute shit show

Margaret Thatcher trashed our manufacturing base, sold utilities and crucial infrastructure to foreign buyers and the BSE/CJD crisis lost any trust in our food supply chain

Tony Blair went all style no substance with 'Cool Britannia' vibes

I could go on

No. This isn't the worst government by a long shot

Telling us to be prepared for a few days without power, water or access to food in the run up to El Niño's next run is fairly prudent
