If the UK is on the brink of war, we are screwed.

The country is weakened by threads such as this one, spreading misinformation, lies, discontent and division.

The Russians want us weak, they want a divided population. Just look at AIBU, there are 2 or 3 “I hate Andy Burnham” “Andy Burnham in terrible” “the goverment are awful” “look how bad things are” “we are on the brink of war” “the Far Left are taking over” etc etc, every day.

These threads are planted here, look at the phrasing and language, it’s all the same. They are planned to sew discontent (and do a great job) - a Divided Nation is much easier to manipulate.

Good point.

UK labour and Conservatives are not really that far apart. None of the classic parties are. It is Reform and Restore that are way out. And possibly " your Party" are way out to the left. But we don't get many threads from actual socialists advocating for the public ownership of the means of production. But we do get a lot of threads saying that mainstream politics is rubbish. And that benefits Reform and Restore. As well as Putin.

I am not accusing the OP of anything here. But I will say Reform and Restore do work on dividing society to generate votes, and lots of people do appear influenced by the work they do.

Wes Streeting has announced that Britain needs to prepare for war in 1000 days

No he hasn’t. Stop scaremongering.

you don’t know me so I know that you are just trying to be funny or sarcastic or both. But you should know that I have lost 2 members of family to alcoholism so please try to be more careful and aware that what you say may be offensive

My father was an alcoholic who died of his addiction and I'd not be offended by people suggesting I might have had a glass of wine or two. Big difference between someone appearing to be a bit squiffy at 1am on a Saturday night because they're posting strange stuff online and alcoholism.

SmashedPatty · 25/10/2026 07:17

Mind you, @GettingThereEveryDay your posts this morning are just as scaremongering and strange.

Please stop spreading misinformation and potentially panic.

What an idiotic OP. Getting quite tired of this site.

Twiglets1 · 25/10/2026 07:20

We’ve definitely had worse governments.

Liz Truss, Maggie Thatcher to name two.

YABU @GettingThereEveryDay and catastrophising. Even if we did go to war it wouldn’t be the fault of the government.

SmokeBillows · 25/10/2026 07:20

I think the stockpiling advice is as much to do with El Nino as it is Russia - higher likelihood of severe storms and potentially arctic snaps over winter. So it's advisable to have supplies in ahead of that. I think anyone would be hard pushed to find a way to blame the current Labour government for El Nino.

You could just share a link.

"Google it" is a term too often used by conspiracists and... Reform voters. In my experience anyway.

No he hasn’t. Stop scaremongering.

It has been reported. He has said that although we have always been under threat for years by Russia, by 2030 they will be in a stronger position so could attack, possibly cyber attacks. It's all to do with the 'Be Ready' campaign.

He has said 'could' not 'will' so it's important to remember that. A lot can happen in 3 years.

Meadowfinch · 25/10/2026 07:33

GettingThereEveryDay · 25/10/2026 01:49

So the 3 day emergency prep is not about the threat of supplies being cut off by Putin?

Putin can't cut off supplies, he can disrupt them. Huge difference.

Likely strategies are to hack into service computer networks that, for example, supermarket internal order processing or bank payment systems. It would take a few days to restore systems or reroute food supplies through other outlets.

He could mess with undersea cables disruption our international comms. He could hack into national utility networks, all of which are well protected and built on a cellular structure which should mean there is no single point of failure.

The 3 day emergency prep is to ensure people are comfortable and not panicking while systems are restored or rerouted.

I’m not saying it’s the fault of this government but if we are in a world crisis, we are basically being governed by a bunch of amateurs

So if you think you could do a better job I presume you are in politics working your way towards a position of power? O

Small boats are at there lowest levels for years, the Free Polish fought and died alongside in the 2WW, and do you really think Putin would stop
with Eastern Europe. You are either stupid or a bot

beencaughttrollin · 25/10/2026 07:38

Just because the UK has never been involved in or at risk of being involved in a war under any of the other governments at any point in history does not mean that being on the brink of war now would necessarily be the fault of the current government. Times have changed; keep up.

TankFlyBossW4lk · 25/10/2026 07:38

Utter utter rubbish. And not even a good attempt at posting.

If we're vulnerable it'll be because of the corruption of the mostly Tory governments we've had before us.

Many (not all) of us survived a pandemic when we governed not only by a bunch of amateurs but led by a narcissist serving his own purposes.

heekylel · 25/10/2026 07:42

The bots are out in force today aren’t they.

Meadowfinch · 25/10/2026 07:43

Incidentally, while I'm no fan of Labour or Andy Burnham, I think Healey is an intelligent sensible man, and I'm absolutely thrilled he's replaced the ridiculous Rachel Reeve as chancellor.

He actually understands the financial constraints, he won't waste time and money on costly vindictiveness like VAT for private schools, he's fully aware of the need for defence spending, and he doesn't float ideas in public to gauge public opinion, panic the markets for eight weeks and then change his mind like Reeve did.

I'm interested to see what he does.

Hopefulsalmon · 25/10/2026 07:44

It's the best government we've had in ages by a country mile.

Wes Streeting literally said that we should be prepared for war by 2030.

If we have been made vulnerable by the Tory government, it certainly doesn’t put us in a better position with this bunch of muppets.

Andy Burnham actually said in a recent interview that he was surprised at how well he connected with Trump. Is Andy Burnham actually a megalomaniac? Power hungry and prepared to do a Tony Blair for the sake of going down in history as the prime minister who led the country during war?

@RaggedRocks Then you should have paid more attention to your history lessons of WWII.

Or more recently, Putin invaded Crimea, and Europe (us included) did nothing. That emboldened Putin to think he could take all of Ukraine.

Thankfully Europe (and us) got our heads out of our arses and supported Ukraine in fighting back, with the result that Putin has lost millions of men and gained very little ground.

If we'd done the same when he invaded Crimea, we wouldn't have had the spike in food & fuel prices it caused in 2022, which cost the UK £40 billion in utilities support.

ClairDeLaLune · 25/10/2026 08:00

Friendlygingercat · 25/10/2026 01:06

Successive governments have drawn the attention of Russia by backing bloody Ukraine without any public mandate. Time we had a public referendum on this or better still moved to direct representation. Time to dump the cold fashioned. slow and unrepresentative parliamentary democracy whereby we elect 6500 tossers to sit on their backsides in an old fashioned building and talk. In this age of universal smartphones we have the technology to move to something better and faster.

That you Vladimir? If not, do you actually have any brain cells? Maybe try using them. We back Ukraine because they were invaded by Russia in a completely one-sided attack. Would you like that to happen to us? Would you think it fair? Would you think other countries should support us?

Also there’s 650 MPs not 6,500. How big do you think the House of Commons is? Jeez.
