If the UK is on the brink of war, we are screwed.

we are on the brink of war. Some of the military disaster wargamers say we are already in ww3. It just looks different. It’s going to worsen.
unlikely to become nuclear though. Cyber.

PinkWaffleMaker · 25/10/2026 02:39

Have you forgotten about the Liz Truss government?

Stompythedinosaur · 25/10/2026 02:49

The worst government ever? Nope, I'm pretty sure it it doesn't compare to the USA right now.

Who are we on the brink of war with?

SuddenlyBecoming · 25/10/2026 03:12

Yep agree with you, who sends a whole population into wondering what is happening like AB just has. Why he has come out with this 3 day stockpile nonsense who knows, what the hell would 3 do as of things help with. Nothing.

Terrible coms, he announces things like he his in the pub chatting to regulars.

GettingThereEveryDay · 25/10/2026 01:00

I’m not saying it’s the fault of this government but if we are in a world crisis, we are basically being governed by a bunch of amateurs

Ahem. Have you not been following the news about the fella who is in the Whitehouse ?

AbbyEidyn · 25/10/2026 05:07

Have you heard of Liz Truss?

TheGrimSmile · 25/10/2026 05:19

Not perfect but by far the best government we've had for a long time.

I can’t tell if this is satire or not.

Just in case you really are that ignorant of wartime history… Polish airmen were quite famously the largest foreign contingent in the RAF during World War Two. 18,000 Poles served in the RAF. Their own units also fought alongside ours. The unit with the most confirmed kills in the Battle of Britain was a Polish fighter unit.

Many European countries have already done it. It's just common sense. Doesn't mean we're on the brink of bloody war!

Ratherhaveacupofteaandabiscuit · 25/10/2026 05:22

Divisive post by someone with less than a week’s posting history.
Classic tactics.

Ok Putin! Take your bot and trot off!

I didn't think it did and I am aware of the EUs recommendation. You may not be aware I suspect that this advice has also been long standing in the UK. In the 70s everyone had a stock of tinned food, candles, basic things in case of a power strike. It isn't new what is new is ABs showboating of it and his creation of people wondering why. If he was honest and explained this has always been advised and this is a reminder there wouldnt be this speculation. 3 days of rations still will not do anything for anyone that their general shop doesn't already. It's just telling people not to let their cupboards empty and to have some water and instead of candles a wind up light and a radio.

I do think Labour should be talking more about this to combat misinformation. Boat crossing exploded under Tories, and have fallen significantly under Labour. On top of that they have committed to over £500m in funding to stopping it, are putting officers France side to stop it, and have removed / returned over 50% more than under the Tories.

Anyway, Russia has repeatedly threatened the UK and Europe with attacks and war for years. They have assassinated people on our soil, have polluted politics with bots, have given bribes to politicians, and conduct cyber warfare. We isolated ourselves from Europe based on misinformation, roused by political parties who have been found to have proven ties to Russia. It isn't Labours fault, and they are looking are ways to reverse some of the damage which is brilliant.

Telling the public to stock up, for while they have clear reasons for if people read past headlines, is sensible and has been done for years in other European countries.

Hope your head's not too sore this morning, OP. Lots of water, some paracetamol and a bacon sarnie should sort you out.

emmetgirl · 25/10/2026 06:01

Are you ok Kemi?

SoBoredOfSelfDoubtHowToGetOut · 25/10/2026 06:17

Brink of war? And if we were it would all be this government’s fault?

😂

Loggerh3ad · 25/10/2026 06:27

Nice try Kemi🙄

So the 3 day emergency prep is not about the threat of supplies being cut off by Putin?

I work in a supermarket which get daily deliveries, we won't be getting our delivery today because of the weather (Scotland). Two days of that and our shelves would be practically empty. That's why it's practical to have a few days of items in.

Driedupoldshrew · 25/10/2026 06:35

Anyone who thinks this is the worst government ever has got such a short memory that they should probably see a doctor.

Why are you bothered about Russia invading Poland?

You may wish to reflect on what happened the last time Poland was invaded.

you don’t know me so I know that you are just trying to be funny or sarcastic or both. But you should know that I have lost 2 members of family to alcoholism so please try to be more careful and aware that what you say may be offensive

The country is weakened by threads such as this one, spreading misinformation, lies, discontent and division.

The Russians want us weak, they want a divided population. Just look at AIBU, there are 2 or 3 “I hate Andy Burnham” “Andy Burnham in terrible” “the goverment are awful” “look how bad things are” “we are on the brink of war” “the Far Left are taking over” etc etc, every day.

These threads are planted here, look at the phrasing and language, it’s all the same. They are planned to sew discontent (and do a great job) - a Divided Nation is much easier to manipulate.

Would you prefer to bring back Johnson and Cummings to deal with a national crisis? I mean, they did so well handling an epidemic. One of them hid in a fridge to avoid difficult questions and the other drove to the other end of the country to 'test his eyesight'. That's quite aside from a failed belief in herd immunity, 'bodies piled high' and a multitude of parties while others said goodbye to dying loved ones via facetime. Oh, and then there was Truss who crashed the economy and was outlived by a lettuce. Do you have amnesia? On what evidence are you basing your verdict, op?
