So I had toothache in one tooth. Thinking it was grinding I got a home tooth guard. Completly messed up the moulding process somehow but continued to push it up in to my teeth an bite down thinking it would work. Didn’t work for did process again.. same thing. Basically bit down into hard plastic! Now I’ve hurt my front teeth along with others hope they are just bruised but at this point I think it may be worse a need to see a dentist! Oh and the other tooth still hurts! Don’t know why I continued to do that or what the hell I was thinking but yes so so so stupid! The please tell me the most stupid things you’ve done to make me feel slightly better?

Knocked a scented candle in its engraved glass jar off a shelf above the bed, right into the middle of my forehead while busy doing the deed with husband. Had a dented and bruised forehead spelling out ‘Yankee Candle’ for weeks 😂😂

Had the dog asleep on my legs, went to get up not realising my ankle was dead and rolled it badly enough to break the ligament. 😫

Mine is very similar to this one. Glad I’m not the only numpty! Thankfully it happened just after I’d left one job & while I was waiting for DBS & references before I could start the new one.

I went out for a run one evening, I am not a huge runner but occasionally like to go for a little run. Well this night I got to the end of my drive, tripped on the cub and ended up on crutches with a fractured foot.
another time I was at a work party and they had put small polystyrene balls over the floor of the bar as Christmas decorations to make it snow like and I slipped, went up in the air and fell and fractured my wrist.

Yesitismeandiamcomingforyou · 23/10/2026 22:30

A while ago I had a job that required safety shoes every day. I came home from work, took off safety shoes, turned around to walk through door and managed to kick the door frame, breaking and dislocating the same toes that had enjoyed day-long protection

Endoadnowarrior · 23/10/2026 22:33

Accidentally poked myself in the eye and scratched my eyeball, on not one, but 3 seperate occasions. Each time needing to use special drops and avoid light and screens for anywhere between 12-72 hours!
Once with my finger, once with my keys and once with a piece of paper!
I know where my glasses ALL of the time as a precaution as I clearly cant be trusted with eyes. Or hands!

ForLimeHiker · 23/10/2026 22:34

not me, but a friend stabbed her hand whilst cutting vegetables and needed specialist surgery as she severed a nerve in her hand!

Namemechangey · 23/10/2026 22:34

I just remembered when I was about 18 I was temping in an office and it was flying ant day and I came in and started to go up the stairs in the stairwell and felt something crawling, screamed as I saw several flying ants crawling in my top, in a frenzy I took the top off leaving me in my bra and in doing so lost my balance at the top of a flight of about 8 stairs, as I fell I thought it best to launch myself so I flew through the air and landed at the bottom on my face in my bra, just as my boss came running down to see what all the screaming was about.

localnotail · 23/10/2026 22:37

Getting out of the bath. Put one foot down, slipped, one toe got caught in a bath mat and turned the wrong way when I put my whole body weight on my foot to prevent me from falling. It hurt but I did not realise I broke it until a few days later when it turned purple

localnotail · 23/10/2026 22:40

Also, trying to make a hole in a plastic cup with a knife while holding it in my hand (dont ask, stupid DIY idea) and sticking it into my palm as a result. Had no feeling in three of my fingers for a bit.

localnotail · 23/10/2026 22:42

Not me but a friend - falling asleep watching TV while leaning on her hand - damaged the nerve and had no use of the arm for several months.

RedRiverShore6 · 23/10/2026 22:45

I walked across the carpet in my slippers and somehow my foot come out of my slipper and sprained my foot

theworldisadarkplace · 23/10/2026 22:47

Knelt on the edge of a rug whilst giving my bf a BJ and dislocated my knee cap. Bf was not happy at having to zip his trousers back up and drive me to a and e.

Our pantry door open outwards.& Is in an awkward position in the corner of the kitchen. It's really easy to hit your foot with the door as you can't step back properly. Anyway, I opened the door a bit too fast, moved forward a bit too fast. Door hit my foot, rebounded and smacked me in the eye. Yes, I had to tell people my black eye was from walking into a door. No, my DH didn't do it....

Years ago I stapled my finger to a wall with a staple gun when putting up a display. Had to have an ambulance crew extricate me. Was then taken to hospital to have it removed. All my colleagues came to gawk and there was me being wheeled out with a staple through my finger. I still cringe.

I staplegunned my hand to a noticeboard, putting up Ents posters in a student hall of residence. Luckily it went through the webbing between thumb and forefinger and a fellow Entser levered the staple out with a screwdriver.

Meteorite87 · 23/10/2026 23:28

Cringing in horror at these and I'm only on page 1.

@CoolPlayer I hope you can see a dentist asap. Dental pain is horrible.

Leaving a local shop I missed the single step, fell and broke 2 foot bones.

PissedOffNeighbour22 · 23/10/2026 23:35

@LetMeGoogleThat I’ve lost count of how many times I’ve caught my foot on flared joggers. One day I will break my neck coming down the stairs because of them.

gillefc82 · 23/10/2026 23:53

As a child about 7 ish:

  • I cut my scalp open when a heavy glass tankard fell from the top of my parents’ large unit. They were redecorating and had put sheets over it but placed all of my Dad’s football/cricket trophies and awards back on the very top, including this glass tankard. My bro and I were playing “office” in the living room being watched by my Granny, while my parents were painting the stairs/landing. We’d ran out of A4 paper, so I went to get more from the bottom cupboard in that unit. I lifted up the sheet, opened the cupboard door, felt a heavy clunk on my head and thought “ow”…..but then shook it off, got the paper and went back to carry on playing. About 60 seconds later my Granny spotted the blood coming out of my head and started screaming to my Mum. I needed to go to A&E and get stitches (can’t remember exactly how many but was in double digits). They didn’t hurt and I got a lollipop for being so brave, so to be honest, I was made up about the whole situation!
  • About 4 months after having those stitches removed, I tripped over a metal door bar / carpet divider going into my bedroom one afternoon after school. I cut a chunk out of the cartilage on the top of my left ear, catching it on a partially exposed nail from the toy box that was just inside the door. Again I had to go to A&E and get stitches, but the experience was nowhere near as enjoyable - I didn’t get a lollipop despite being just as brave and it was quite painful when the GP removed the stitches.

Thankfully those are by far the worst childhood injuries I suffered, so I think I’m pretty fortunate.

AllaMova · 23/10/2026 23:55

I crashed a petrol go-kart into a wall and tore a ligament in the process.

I blistered my lip on a really hot piece of pak choi, which is not only stupid but horrifically middle-class of me Grin

Ouch! My better half microwaved some new potatoes once. Took them out, sniffed them (no idea why), and one exploded. Took all the skin off the inside of both nostrils. Not sure whether that was worse or having a nose full of scabs a while later that she couldn’t properly reach to pick!

Mumto3kiddiewinks · 24/10/2026 10:30

Glad I am anon as I was at the gym (was going to be the 3rd time I went) and I was on the treadmill.... decided to attempt to take my hoodie off whilst said treadmill was still moving.... I went backwards into some metal bikes and knocked myself out... and got a broken wrist into the bargain 🙄

CoolPlayer · 24/10/2026 11:52

think broken toes are extremely common after reading all of these 🫣🫣

Sorry, completely off the point, but I’ve never got over a schoolmate whose front teeth were broken by an errant hockey ball. She was a fervent Christian and took it as a sign from God that she should become a dentist, so she did.

omghereistrouble · 24/10/2026 12:41

Katemax82 · 24/10/2026 13:19

Gave my friend the middle finger while bashing down on my inner elbow to make my arm stick up as if it's a hinge (can't describe the action but hopefully people know what I mean). My finger went straight in my eye, rather violently. I had a scratched eyeball for days after and had to go to the doctors and tell them how I'd done it, I was 13.
Last year...I was sleeping on our recliner sofa but horizontally with my baby and I rolled onto the extended footrest, rolled off it and onto a footstool which cracked my rib. Luckily my baby was unhurt but I still have a scar and dent in my rib now
