I’ll start:

BMW X1 2022
Year left on PCP, paying £350 a month

Need inspiration for what to do next, tempted to buy a used outright!

Volvo XC40. Bought ex demo model in 2023, with full set of bells and whistles. No finance, paid outright. Love it!

2006 Mercedes CLK350. Bought outright.

Kitchenbattle · 20/10/2026 18:23

2026 Toyota Yaris cross. Bought outright also.

FarmGirl78 · 20/10/2026 18:24

13yr old Vauxhall mokka that cost me about £10k 11 years ago. It's done 167,000 miles and paid for itself many times over. I love it lots and I'll be gutted when it dies. I shall drive it until it dissolves into a little pile rust particles on the mechanics workshop floor.

Balloonhearts · 20/10/2026 18:29

2010 Vauxhall Agila. Bought outright, used. Best car I've ever had. Not overly powerful but it's punchy and has literally never broken down in 12 years. Very comfy drive too.

Renault 5. Traded in my car and paid outright the difference.
Charges off solar power, cheap as chips to run. We worked out today it costs about a fiver to charge up to full.

Delighted with it.

makemineadecaf · 20/10/2026 18:30

2021 Audi a6, pay £190 a month, one year left of a three year pcp.

WhereverIlaymycatthatsmyhome · 20/10/2026 18:31

2014 Ford Fiesta with only 36k miles on it. Bought it almost new (one previous owner and 1200 miles) in 2015.

I absolutely love it and will run it until it drops dead. It has a full service every year so 🤞🤞🤞

ETA bought it outright

Watchmeshine90 · 20/10/2026 18:33

Mercedes A180 2016,( very very low mileage) bought with a bank loan 2 years ago,3 years left on it. I will run it into the ground.

thenightsky · 20/10/2026 18:33

Toyota RAV4 2014 plate, bought outright in 2019 with low milage as it was an ex-motablity car which had barely been driven. Still had plastic covers on the back seats.

Iheartmysmart · 20/10/2026 18:34

A truly ancient Smart Fortwo convertible which has been great fun over the summer. It’s a 2008 with 29k on the clock. Bought outright a few years ago.

User3353821614 · 20/10/2026 18:35

2019 VW Golf. Bought outright, no finance.

Greenismyfavouritecolournow · 20/10/2026 18:36

9 year old Nissan bought for 10k outright about 3/4 years ago. Will drive it until it starts having problems. It’s been great so far. I’m putting money away for the next one which will also be bought with cash.

SoThatsTheWayItIs · 20/10/2026 18:38

BYD sea lion 2026. Financed £280 a month over four years

Jopo12 · 20/10/2026 18:40

I will always buy used outright.
My Seat is 19 years old, I bought it 10 years ago for £6500. It's needed a new catch on the boot, new coils, and new consumables (brake disks, tyres etc) but aside from that there's nothing that's gone wrong with it. My annual cost is a fraction of what a new car would be on lease or hire purchase.

VimesandhisCardboardBoots · 20/10/2026 18:46

10 year old Vauxhall viva, brand new when bought outright (by my Mum, who was trying to get rid of some cash to avoid inheritance tax, and hoping to last the 7 years so it didn't count as a gift).

It starting to become a pain, so looking at the next one now, will be used and bought outright

InOverMyHead84 · 20/10/2026 18:46

Volvo V40 D2. Bought outright in 2016 with inheritance, got it because it's a Volvo. Reliable.

So far, so good. Love it. No point in changing it.

Ambi · 20/10/2026 18:49

Tesla Model Y - company car

DH has a 5yr old Hyundai Ioniq EV. Bought cash for £11k 2yrs ago.

Both great cars.

MaggotDonkey · 20/10/2026 18:52

2020 Vauxhall E-Corsa, £160 a month finance. Just under 2 years left on PCP.

We've changed our car quite a bit over the last 6 years due to life changes, so I'm glad we haven't bought any outright.

Jk987 · 20/10/2026 18:53

Ford Fiesta Titanium X, bought used with low mileage. Fantastic car.

ImWearingPantaloons · 20/10/2026 18:54

Toyota Yaris, 2018.

Bought outright, can’t be doing with finance ….

ItsABatFaceThing · 20/10/2026 18:55

A 2 year old Cupra Born EV. Bought for 22.5 outright. Highly recommend! It’s amazing

JohnofWessex · 20/10/2026 18:56

Kia Ceed Estate & Kia Picanto both bought pre loved for cash now about 10 years old.

We got the Picanto after our 57 plate Rio CRDI developed some potentially expensive noises at 157000 miles and 18 years old - we had had it for just over 15 years and again it was bought for cash

Weirdpig · 20/10/2026 18:57

Volvo XC40 EV. It's the twin motor version so very nippy. It's on a salary sacrifice lease with work. It costs about £1k of my gross pay, but saves me hitting 60% tax, so costs more like £400 of my net pay.

I've always bought outright before and may well buy this one at the end of my lease.
