I’ll start:

BMW X1 2022
Year left on PCP, paying £350 a month

Need inspiration for what to do next, tempted to buy a used outright!

Skoda Kamiq Monte Carlo. Bought new and outright. It’s a decent enough car for a small family and has been very reliable and economical so far. DP and I aren’t into cars so we’ve always chosen something sensible and affordable. Although I do occasionally have my head turned by an exceptionally nice looking car, I have no clue (nor care for) what goes on under the bonnet!

We used to have a Kamiq, top of the range, bought new when it first came out. Loved it, so reliable and easy to drive. Never had a moments trouble with it.

We part ex it for an EV earlier this year. Our neighbours have a Kamiq now, they love it as well. Great car. I did feel a bit sad when we left ours at the dealer 😳

I'm also in the market for a Renault 5 and I want a green one with a black roof.

However one of the reasons I'm dithering is because when I start looking, inevitably that will be only available in a model I don't want, isn't available for months or adds thousands to the cost.

That’s the one I’ve ordered! Should be in the country by 6th of November! I’m very excited!

I've just bought an Audi A3 outright. It was used, but only had 9,000 miles on the clock. I bought it through a dealership, so it's Audi Approved. I realised through my research that cars in the North are so much cheaper than in the South, so I bought it from a Northern dealership and paid for it to be driven to me in the South. It was still so much cheaper than buying from my local dealership. I absolutely love my new car!

We love ours too! We had the Fabia Monte Carlo before in the exact same colour 😂 Loved that but wanted something a wee bit bigger so went for the Kamiq & it’s great. I think we’ll keep it until it’s done in.

I liked the look of the Enyaq but wasn’t sure enough to make the leap to EV.

Mazda 3, 10yrs old but low mileage, bought 2yrs ago outright (£10.5k), goes well but don't need to drive too much. Does the job with 2 young kids, only downside is turning circle seems like a tank! Not one for flashy cars though (apart from the MX-5 I'll be buying again once kids are older!)

Loved my MX5 but sadly grandchildren meant it was no longer practical. Would have another in a heartbeat but I suspect at my age it would not be so easy to navigate getting in and out.

2019 VW T-Roc and DH has a 2019 Volvo V40.
Bought both outright in 2022 with money from a house sale. Not sure what we will do when we end up needing to replace both of them at the same time

That’s ridiculous. We’ve always had old cars and run them into the ground. Never replaced a cam bent or taken a day off work for a car or wasted time at garages. I think you’re trying to reassure yourself that the huge amount of money you’re wasting on car finance is worth it- it isn’t.

And I can say hand on heart that’s exactly what we had when we went for older cars. I was ending up with services which were never less than about £700-900 and that was 15 years ago. I literally can’t be doing with it.

£330 a month and I have one service over 3 years, no MOT and guarantee of no stress.

I bought my kids car outright. It was 5 years old and had 40k on the clock. Even that, a small group run around started costing me money as soon as it hit about 10 years old and confirmed to me that buying older and outright and holding on to a car just isn’t worth it

15 year old campervan conversion bought outright <4k . I've had it two years. It has sailed through 2 MOTs and owes me nothing. 170k on the clock and hope to get another 100k out of it.

DHs car is 18 years old, £800. He's had it 3 years. His commute is over an hour to work and back so it's a real little workhorse.

We've always bought slightly used cars - 1 to 3 years old. Outright or bank loan over 3 years. I've had wonderful luck with cars that way. I had my first car 17 years and 2nd car 12 and still absolutely brilliant but my DH somehow hasn't.
We'll stick with Honda and Toyota in future.

It was perfect for our previous house, tight terraced street parking. Really nimble. It was DHs car really, as he learned to drive before I did and he picked it when we saved for a new car.

We have a drive now so I bought an Enyaq. I dragged DH round loads of dealers, Kia, Hyundai, Volvo, Ford, BYD, Jeep, Omoda, ummed and ahhed a lot but as soon as I said let's just go to Skoda and sat in it I knew this was the one. Lol.

I have a 2015 VW Golf. Paid cash for it spring last year.

2007 Freelander 2. Paid £2750 for it and I love it!
