I’ll start:

BMW X1 2022
Year left on PCP, paying £350 a month

Need inspiration for what to do next, tempted to buy a used outright!

OP posts:
Thelonelyshrew · 20/10/2026 18:58

2021 Seat Leon FR. £210 per month PCP. 14 months left of 4 years. I’ll just trade it in and get something else nearer the time.

13yr old Vauxhall mokka that cost me about £10k 11 years ago. It's done 167,000 miles and paid for itself many times over. I love it lots and I'll be gutted when it dies. I shall drive it until it dissolves into a little pile rust particles on the mechanics workshop floor.

If it wasn't for the farm reference in your username i'd think you were my mum, she loves her Mokka!

Belladog1 · 20/10/2026 18:59

2025 plate Nissan Duke. It was used by the showroom as the loan car and had 3,000 miles on the clock when I bought it.

Traded in my Fiat 500 and paid the balance.

Volvo XC40. Bought ex demo model in 2023, with full set of bells and whistles. No finance, paid outright. Love it!

Edited

No bells and whistles here, my Trabant is all squeaks and rattles.

MrsBeltane · 20/10/2026 18:59

Volvo XC60, I got a very good discount (NHS worker) on it during COVID. Bought it outright and plan to keep it for a long time.

Cantstopeatingjaffacakes · 20/10/2026 19:02

9 year old Suzuki Ignis which I bought 3 years ago outright. It has low mileage and easy to maintain.

MoreIcedLattePlease · 20/10/2026 20:05

Almsost everyone on MN claims to own expensive cars outright, OP.

I have a brand new Omoda hybrid. Costs £295 a month, but saving £200 a month in fuel compared to previous Kia Sportage (which I did own outright, but only after paying off for years) so girl maths says it's only £95 to have a shiny new car.

Chocolatecustardcreamsrule · 20/10/2026 20:09

I have a seat arona sport £300pm I love driving it and find it really comfy but I wouldn’t recommend, I’ve had to take it back twice to be repaired (thankfully both covered by the warranty but still annoying).

Wrestling67 · 20/10/2026 20:13

2020 Honda Jazz Crosstar. Outright. Would buy another in a heartbeat

Thesque · 20/10/2026 20:14

Just got rid of my ten year old Volvo V40 that I bought for cash
Just bought a 2024 Yaris Cross, part exchange and cash.
Also own a 2011 Suzuki swift bought for cash when six months old. Both DC learned in it, borrowed it and we keep it as a spare. Currently on loan to one DC while their car is repaired.
@Kitchenbattle how do you like your Yaris Cross?
Mine is a special edition, lots of bells and whistles. Very bossy. 70mpg.

ThePieceHall · 20/10/2026 20:14

Honda Civic Sports Ex-Line, 2020 model. Bought in 2021 with only 2K miles on the clock. Paid cash. Best car ever. I bought a Honda as I’d had years of Fiat 500s and Fiat Panda 4x4. The latter was just a money pit. The independent garage where I would go for services and repairs advised me to get shut before the clutch packed in. The boss mechanic told me to buy a Honda as they only service and MOT them but never have to repair them.

hurryup888 · 20/10/2026 20:16

Suzuki vitara all grip 21 plate
part X, cash and a small loan last year, almost own it out right. I do a lot of miles and more than pays for itself with the use I get out of it

HarrietSchulenberg · 20/10/2026 20:18

Skoda Kodiaq 2l tdi - 8 years old, bought earlier this year when my 19yo car finally died. I am to keep this one at least as long as I love it. Bought outright using inherited money.

TheWytch · 20/10/2026 20:19

Toyota Corolla Estate 2023

Bought outright for cash

WonderingWanda · 20/10/2026 20:20

Volvo XC60 2016, brought outright during as an ex notability car. Still going strong. Seeing how long I can get out of it, if I can manage a few more years while the teens will still camp and travel with it will be ideal. Then I will downsize to something smaller and possibly electric.

PumpkinPie2016 · 20/10/2026 20:25

A panda 4x4 2016. Bought off DHs elderly aunt when it was 3 years old and had less than 4000 miles on the clock. Paid outright, no loans.

Love it - reliable, cheap to run, cheap to insure, good in snow (I live rurally in the North!)

I would always avoid finance if I could.

MadisonAvenue · 20/10/2026 20:25

2023 VW Polo, bought it two months ago with 5000 miles on the clock. No finance, traded in my 2019 Ford Focus and paid the remainder in cash.

We’ve got two, 2022 and 2025 also bought for cash. And DD has the one we got in 2020.
