You’re not going to want to listen to me, but you must.

Please take your bag of salt and vinegar crisps and put them in the freezer for a few hours.

Enjoy a bowl of them straight from the freezer.

Please report back with your findings.

Mine are in the freezer and have about 30 minutes left to cook. I can’t wait

I'm a lifelong Salt and vinegar lover, I chuck peanuts in the bag to live life on the edge 😂

I do this at the pub, pour dry roasted into a bag of salt and vinegar, shake and then use a 'scooper" crisp to scoop a few peanuts up and then into gob

Well, this has livened up my day. We’ve been very impressed with ourselves for putting Twirls in the freezer lately, this is an exciting addition!

I like dunking Twirls in coffee. My evening treat.

Dark-chocolate 2-finger Kit-Kat : goes straight in the freezer when I unpack the Sainsbury delivery, and stays untouched for 48 hours. Remove and unwrap no longer than the tea is brewing then bite off in short, squareish pieces. once a month I need a Kit-Kat fast to rebuild a deep and addictive longing for fresh shot. No other chocolate has the same impact.

Walkers S and V will be ready at 8.30 pm. Stand by

Pickled onion crisps have landed. Gave bag to DH but stole a couple so I can do a proper compare and contrast at 11 Ack Emma.

Be careful out there. I just want to freeze everything now. 😂

They taste like wet crisps.

Grim.

Glad I didn't put the choc digestives in there to ruin as well.

TerfOnATrain · Yesterday 19:42

Late to the party, again, and OMG. I’m a massive fan of frozen food, all chocolate goes in there, and Snickers, Bounty, Turkish Delight all taste better frozen. Skinned bananas dipped in chocolate and grapes frozen beat the fresh version. Frozen Tunnocks, chocolate biscuits of all kinds and whipped cream, all great.

Salt and Vinegar crisps are my fave flavour so I’m going to try this.

Right. This had better be good. Bag in the freezer now.

😂

I have a cookery book that has a recipe in it called Posh Crisps. It's literally just Co-Op brand (very specifically) Salt and Chardonnay vinegar crisps with chopped dill and crumbled feta thrown on them and a drizzle of olive oil.

No freezing required though.

Im excitedly awaiting your feedback

I unexpectedly acquired some multipacks this week. I will be trying this experiment tomorrow.

DD loves those Salt n Vinegar Fish and Chips crisps.

I’m not sure if this freezing process will work well with them (they are FAR from elite crisps) but willing to give it a try.

Campanulaceae · Yesterday 20:39

I tried this today - I put a packet in at 10am and got it out at midday, and it was good! It made the flavours taste a lot more sharp.

I still like mine at room temperature but it made a nice change. I'll give it a go most days next summer I'm sure 😄

In 2023 I invented eating chocolate and plain crisps in the same mouthful, at 1am when my new born wouldn't sleep.

I have an orange club biscuit. I'm going to put it in the freezer as this thread is brilliant and I'd like to join in.

BoogieVoogieAllNightLong · Yesterday 21:05

Ready salted crisps drizzled with maple syrup... yum.

My son keeps his mini rolls in the freezer. I haven't tried it but he swears it improves them.

I suspect a lot of mumsnetters live in the vicinity of my home as I dashed to my local Co-op to purchase said Chardonnay Vinegar crisps…..and they’d sold out! I can only assume there was a mad dash after this thread started, and I was late to the party.

I don't get why people like any chocolate from the fridge, unless you have to put it there when it's warm, it just impairs the flavour for me.

I do this, I’ll break it off into squares and then hide it (from the children) in Tupperware in the fridge. Trick is not to chew and just let it slowly come up to temperature and melt in your mouth.

Room temperature chocolate is far too easy to eat.

Thegirlwhowent · Yesterday 21:39

I've only got cheese and onion crisps. (Frankly, why would anyone bother with any other flavour?) Does it work with them?

Smarties and fruit gums in the same mouthful are divine!

I will give it a go.

I thought digestives in the freezer was something everyone did 😋

jokes aside I can’t eat them without them being in the fridge or freezer

ArabellaScott · Yesterday 21:59

StiffAsAVicar · 13/10/2026 12:14

Honestly I think only the normal crisps, I fear the maize ones would become an odd textured mess but I haven’t specifically tried. If you are willing to take one for the team, id love to know your findings.

surely to god we can get a research grant.

<adding marmite crisps to the list for tomorrow>

the digestives don’t go soggy. I freeze them and I’ve never known them to go soggy once back to room temp

maybe just put a couple in the freezer to see how you get on/like them

Pah. Been doing this since the 80s with cheese and onion crisps with either a “marathon” as it was known back then, a bounty or flake.

I was getting ready to go bed but I’m so tempted to chuck on my joggers and pop to the corner shop because of this thread 😂
