You’re not going to want to listen to me, but you must.

Please take your bag of salt and vinegar crisps and put them in the freezer for a few hours.

Enjoy a bowl of them straight from the freezer.

Please report back with your findings.

We need a diagram spreadsheet

I’m going to the Co-Op after work 👀 the Chardonnay vinegar crisps are my ultimate fave and they ALREADY take the skin off the inside of my mouth so I am expecting to have a truly numinous experience.

This is very interesting! I will try….hope my filling doesn’t get stuck in the frozen snickers and pop out 😅

Yes, eat carefully - my dentist sees me more often than either of us want 🤔

NecklessMumster · 13/10/2026 13:09

I'll try the crisps, will have to be cheese and onion though. On the chocolate front : Fry's Turkish Delight bars are good frozen, and my v ropey teeth cope with it

Cookingdoesntgettougher · 13/10/2026 13:10

Do you leave them at all after taking out of the freezer or eat straight away?

Notagayne · 13/10/2026 13:14

StiffAsAVicar · 13/10/2026 12:11

This has chuffed me right up 🥹 i can’t wait to hear what you think!!

I’ll update the thread when I’ve tried them :)

Uricon2 · 13/10/2026 13:15

Does bag size matter? I think the Co-op chardonnay are a large size but perhaps not.

Following with the most intense interest and updating shopping order. I love S&V but am going with pickled onion crisps to further the research model.

Ohnobackagain · 13/10/2026 13:17

@StiffAsAVicar I was about to trough the remainder of my Lidl deluxe sea salt and balsamic (v good btw) but now they are GOING IN until 1517!

SquirrelSoShiny · 13/10/2026 13:18

Love this thread 😂

Watch me scamper into the kitchen to search for crisps to freeze.

Belladog1 · 13/10/2026 13:20

Following, cos I'm now invested!

Merluzzo · 13/10/2026 13:22

In the rare event you can’t finish a large bag in one sitting, can you re-freeze or will they go soggy?

minerva7 · 13/10/2026 13:22

InterestedDad37 · 13/10/2026 12:53

I've yet to experiment with the frozen crisp, but all 'bar' chocolate (Mars, Snickers, Rocky etc) go in the freezer 🍫 ❄️ 😋

Frozen snickers is the bomb
I will be experimenting with the crisps forthwith.

Well, this has livened up my day. We’ve been very impressed with ourselves for putting Twirls in the freezer lately, this is an exciting addition!

Frozen Wispa bars are great too (not the Wispa Gold though, too hard)

bunnypenny · 13/10/2026 13:23

StiffAsAVicar · 13/10/2026 12:58

Omg 😭 you are incredible!!! Your commitment to the experiment has made my day 10/10.

can’t wait for your thoughts!!

they've arrived and are in the freezer.

2hrs timer is on.

Decant some into a ziplock bag and stick the smaller bag in the freezer 😃

Dry roasted peanuts with S&V square crisps - food of the gods.

I have found my people! 🎉 Salt and vinegar peanuts with cheese and onions crisps here! Trying the freezer trick at the weekend. No crisps until then sadly.

happy to experiment with a Pringle

Autumnalhibernationisthedream · 13/10/2026 13:24

Will do it this weekend (we have a lot of cheese and onion in the house right now and if I buy anything new the kids will all start placing orders!!)

BarbaraUsher · 13/10/2026 13:27

I’m at work! This is torture, no crisps

BarbaraUsher · 13/10/2026 13:28

Cadbury’s little bars are the best in the freezer as they are so thin and freezing them disguises the awfulness that Cadbury has become

ALittleBitofWensleydale · 13/10/2026 13:28

15 minutes to go!

Im in a hotel so no freezer possibilities. But in the hope of adding to the thread….

Dont cook frozen peas or sweetcorn. Just eat them straight from frozen. The DC think they are like a dessert vegetable and eat loads, and there is less cooking and washing up. Known as chilly peas and chilly corn in our house

Cuppachuchu · 13/10/2026 12:57

Next thing you know, there'll be Walkers dry roasted peanut flavour, just watch!

You can get peanut Bugles in the Netherlands!

StiffAsAVicar · 13/10/2026 12:59

Im so glad! It’s certainly broadened my horizons too as I never considered freezing chocolate bars 🤔

Mars Bars are always kept in the fridge in this house! Never frozen them though - must try it!

Oh bugles! My favourite! Discovering they had made it to the UK was a very happy day... I'm still hoping Pepernoten arrive some day!!

I have been known to slice up a frozen Snickers and eat it slowly and delicately.

Sadly, currently have no crisps so can't join the experiment 😪

I love frozen Snickers

But how do you slice it ? Mine come out solid.
