@SereneMember but they're effectively orphaned. No Dad either. He'll be in prison and they will have no relationship with him because how could they after this? Absolutely horrendous.

I feel sick. I don't understand how you can do that. To anyone.

SereneMember · 06/10/2026 20:17

Why does someone murder their wife?

I don't understand..how do you do this to someone you have 3 kids with? Like you love your kids....how do you take away their mother from them?

I literally can't fathom this. DH and have had such horrific arguments in the past but he's never laid a hand on me.

This makes me sick to much stomach.

There are several 'types' of family killers. It makes for a dreadful rabbit hole.

What it boils down to in many cases is men vastly overestimating their worth in the world while underestimating women's.

AgeingMillennial · 06/10/2026 20:23

I just browsed the headlines, today’s it’s:

  1. This poor woman’s murder
  2. The murder of another young woman who was killed by her sexually motivated stepdad in her university halls
  3. A man who flushed a woman’s rabbit down the toilet as part of his terrorising of her
  4. A man who killed a woman as part of a serial killer fetish (Dexter)
  5. Kieran Hayler’s alleged rape of a 13 year old
  6. Afghan men gang raping a woman before trying to leave the UK on a lorry before getting caught
  7. Husband murdering his wife who was found in his freezer
  8. Kevin Adams’ abuse of Andy Carroll

THIS IS JUST 1 DAY OF NEWS AND I HAVEN’T EVEN READ TO THE END

I’m so sick of it!

SodOffbacktoaibu · 06/10/2026 20:25

No. 4 is horrendous. Hit local news. He was 19 when he did this and a student at University. Imagine how his classmates feel!

Dibdibbob · 06/10/2026 20:26

YANBU @Cicchetti - was just scrolling through the news and saw this woman’s murder and a sex worker murdered by a young guy (maybe 20) in a copycat Dexter type thing. And also Cornell.

I’m both angry and depressed that it’s getting worse rather than better, it seems. I’m starting to really despise the male race.

I read a comment by someone that if a young drunk man was in a room with seven females, he couldn’t be in a safer place. They’d look after him, make sure he was not choking on his vomit, keep him comfortable etc. How true.

If my son was ever involved in anything like Cornell, I’d drag him to the police station myself.

CleverOpalBalonz · 06/10/2026 20:27

There’s no deterrent though. Domestic abuse perpetrators rarely get a custodial sentence, if they do they’re out soon enough and back to the area their victim live. Yes there might be a restraining order in place but breaches of this get minimal consequences. So effectively to maintain her and her children’s safety, the victim has to uproot her life and move. Then contact is likely to be court ordered.

I read about a man who got a community order for possession of 100’s of child sexual abuse images - of all categories.

The way rapists don’t get punished if they’re young men with potentially bright futures, yet the female victim who had a potentially bright future are not only left with the recovery and trauma after being raped, but the knowledge that their rapists have gotten away with it and been protected.

The language around it all protects men and minimises it too. It’s horrific. I’m raising 2 boys and talk to them all the time about these horrific crimes and what I expect of them but they’re also quiet kids who I’m not sure would challenge others. It’s very worrying.

There needs to be a massive overhaul of the justice system with real consequences but whilst men are in positions of power that won’t happen.

chirrupybird · 06/10/2026 20:29

Twice as many men get murdered as women, all murders are horrible, and oppression of women is still a terrible thing but don't put it out of proportion, there are a lot of nasty people out there who kill men as well. I guess women are more likely to be killed by a partner.

MEN. That's who kills men MEN.

People my arse.

And read PP's list upthread. It's a litany of violence beyond all reason. Stop minimising.

And who are killing those men? ……OTHER MEN!

Ihateboris · 06/10/2026 20:39

I know I'll be slated for saying it, but quite frankly I don't trust any man. I believe most men would hurt/rape/murder a woman if they thought they could get away with it. Jesus, we can't even trust police officers. Misogyny is getting worse, not better.

Duncantoldme2 · 06/10/2026 20:40

YANBU. I think we are all fed up / sick to the back teeth of it.

Just this week in the news about the gang rape at Cornell university in the USA.

A female student was gang raped by many male students.

Whilst she was being gang raped, and it was being videoed, one of the rapists sent a text to every male student in his 'frat' house (an all males hall of residence in UK language), that he and his mates were currently gang raping a girl and did any of them want to join in.

He sent that on the house Whatsapp group.

57 boys / men were on that group.

Not one of them stopped it.

Namalts can fck off.

This thread is about violence towards women. Start your own thread about violence against men if you want to discuss that.

SalmonOnFinnCrisp · 06/10/2026 21:06

I was just horrified at the fucking audacity of this man and my.second thought was of those poor children in the home when this animal murdered her

The police and society as a whole are complicit in it. We allow men with violent and antisocial behaviours to offend and reoffend. Where is the demand to protect women and children?

Mexicansky · 06/10/2026 21:17

AgeingMillennial · 06/10/2026 14:33

I saw this. Her kids were in the house, having a sleepover with friends Sad

This is awful - her children being in the house is horrific enough but having their friends there too. Just awful.

Gengha · 06/10/2026 21:17

Absolutely awful. As soon as I heard it, I thought it’ll be the same as it always is. Murdered by a partner or ex.

fashionqueen0123 · 06/10/2026 21:18

What the actual fuck. His killed his kids own mum while they had their friends over for a sleepover? I hope he is never released. How can anyone even !!!

Its here. We need to kickstart feminism and women’s rights again.

We really are in a right wing rally, everything on the old left has been corrupted or co-opted into its antithesis. It’s very scary, and it is shocking how easy it is for men to turn against women and become misogynists or sexist.

We give them life, we give them everything.

likelysuspect · 06/10/2026 21:19

Excuses are made for violence all the time though, another thread running where OP cites her son as being nice but dim

He basically targets people that he thinks need a telling off and bullies and frightens them, pretends he's a police officer etc etc

Apparently the poor lamb has ADHD and so theres tons of blather about how his poor brain isnt developed, he will grow up and out of it, he cant help it, he has a condition resulting in this that and the other

All excuses, I dont really care whats wrong with someone or what condition they have, they need to behave to expected standards in society. These same men who end up being violent are 5 years earlier having threads made about them to say how awful or unfair they've been exluded from school or had some other consequences that they shouldnt have because they have some condition or other.

@chirrupybird

Domestic abuse, the facts

Domestic abuse is a gendered crime which is deeply rooted in the societal inequality between women and men. It takes place ‘because she is a woman and happens disproportionately to women’ (CEDAW, 1992).

Women are more likely than men to experience multiple incidents of abuse, different types of domestic abuse (intimate partner violence, sexual assault and stalking) and in particular sexual violence. Any woman can experience domestic abuse regardless of race, ethnic or religious group, sexuality, class, or disability, but some women who experience other forms of oppression and discrimination which can affect their experiences of abuse and may face further barriers to disclosing abuse and finding help.

Domestic abuse exists as part of violence against women and girls, which also includes different forms of family violence such as forced marriage, female genital mutilation and so called “honour crimes” that are perpetrated primarily by family members, often with multiple perpetrators.

The facts
Nearly a third of women (30.3%) have experienced domestic abuse since the age of 16 (ONS, 2025a).

Over the three-year period between the year ending (YE) March 2022 to YE March 2024, on average, at least one woman a week was killed by a male partner/ex-partner (ONS, 2025b).

BeigeCardiganOfDoom · 06/10/2026 21:22

It’s about time males are placed under curfew and tagged, maybe even their DNA taken at birth and stored on a data base. Crime would fall over night and cases solved quickly.

just pack it in, @seahorsessky

this conversation is about male violence against women.

If you want to talk about how poor ol' men have it bad too, do it elsewhere, there's a poppet.

There’s always one 🙄 glad you told them where to go!

the sleepover may be at the core of this. If it was premeditated then he wouldn’t have done it with guests so there must have been an incident.

Duncantoldme2 · 06/10/2026 21:28

It is incorrect btw to say that it's right wing or left wing thing to raise the issue of violence against women and girls. It's a scandal in plain sight and nothing is being done about it. It's not political. It's sex-based. Frankly the left were very willing to give away women's rights all too easily (men can have a cervix women can have penises they told us). Only men could oppress women for thousands of years, then turn around put on a dress and complain they are the most marginalised group in society, and the left tell us that's correct. But we can forgive them that blip if they do something about male sexual violence against women and girls now. They are the ones in power.
