To expect a 50 yr old man to be able to change a duvet cover.

As it says on the time really. Any time he changes it (always prompted by me) he manages to put it in the wrong way (super king size duvet so wider than long). He did it again yesterday only this time the duvet cover was inside out too. Asked him to fix it and he faffed around with it but made it worse. I refused to fix it or sleep under it so grabbed a spare duvet and used that myself last night. Today he asked me to fix it because he just can't do it. Too small a hill to die on???

You have been doing it for years. If this is not the case for him then do not be surprised if he is not as competent as you are. His age is immaterial.

There might be something he regularly does, that would be a first for you that he can get you to do. He might do that. Part of me hopes he does.

The fundamental lack of respect is the problem. Not the ability to put a duvet cover on.

I have a super king , I did this myself a couple of times so I wrote top in felt pen on the duvet .

This cuts through to the nub of it really. I grew up in a single parent household where everyone did everything and my mum fostered a "have a go" attitude. He grew up an only child in a very traditional gender stereotyped household. His mother never taught him anything and he will default to letting me do everything household related if I let him. It's bloody exhausting.

I have two washable quilts and use them one on top of the other in the winter. This gets round the problem of the quilt being too big for the washing machine as you can have low TOG.
