Inset day plans… who is unreasonable here?

Would appreciate views on who might be being unreasonable here…

Two children have inset day next Friday. One parent suggested an overnight stay somewhere (abroad - had been looking at half term but flights were cheaper for next Friday as term time). Other parent says they can’t really go next week because they have a work project they need to complete and planned to do so Friday and Saturday, but could maybe go half term. Parent one made some suggestions for half term although options a lot more limited and more expensive. Parent two asked how the trip was being funded. Parent one didn’t really respond as got the impression parent two doesn’t want to contribute, and is now planning to go next week on their own with kids. Parent two is annoyed that parent one would go without them.

Who is in the wrong here?

Parent 1 should of asked parent 2 , so do you mind if we go without you?, not just assume they wouldnt.

I’m really struggling to understand the OP with how you have wrote the paragraph. I’m getting confused as to who has done what.

The parent that is working can’t help that they are working.

It sounds like one of you have assumed that the other isn’t that bothered without having an actual conversation.

The parent that has just decided they are taking the kids away without discussing it first is unreasonable.

I don’t understand why you couldn’t just go together when both are available.

It sounds like there is a bigger issue, with communication and financial contributions.

Just say who is who. You are always going to be loading your own biases into the facts given so there's no point trying to conceal them

Is it not selfish for parent one to go without parent two?

No. I’ve taken my kids away when my spouse was unable/uninterested to get away. And vice versa. My spouse has taken each kid on a two week long vacation to a place that interested them that didn’t interest the others. Honestly, if I were the parent who had work that needed to get done, I’d be grateful for the time alone to focus.

“Are you thinking what I'm thinking, P1?"
”I don’t think I am, P2”
