What would the Left call the Right, if the small boat people were white?

I'll start by saying, I am very anti open boarders, and I am horrified that so many illegal immigrants are arriving every day. But for me, it has absolutely nothing to do with skin colour, it is more to do with :

ONE) They have no documentation, and we have no idea if they have criminal backgrounds

TWO) They tend to come from cultures where women are not respected

THREE) They often come from places where rape is not a crime

FOUR) They cannot work, and it is costing Millions to house, feed and clothe them

FIVE) We are granting asylum to some people who should never get it - like the Hamas bodyguard we heard of yesterday

Lots of valid reasons I feel, however, for me, it has nothing to do with skin colour. If I had to be locked in a room overnight with a white man from a backward culture, or a black man from the UK, I would choose the latter, every single time.

It isn't colour, it's culture

But I see that people on the Far Left just scream "Racist" to anyone who opposes illegal immigration. What would they scream, if all the small boats were full of white men? And would people still march for England?

"We" aren't all one big group. The people who are most bigoted towards LBGT aren't British citizens born and bred. Our culture doesn't call for death to those people.

Thats utter nonsense. i’m LGBTQ, I have a child who is LGBTQ. We live in an area that is overwhelmingly white and british, the homophobia is rife and my child doesn’t feel safe to walk around outside alone after dark.

Is the culture in Kabul to your liking then?

Did it ever occur to you that those leaving Kabul are the ones who are totally against the regime? Surely if it was their kind of culture they'd want to stay?

I have had the privilege of working with Afghans who abhor what's going on and sought asylum to protect their daughters and sons.

So nowhere is better than anywhere? And nowhere is acceptable? How does what work?

So as long as it’s better here than other places, we should ignore the problems here? Being the best place where over 90% of women have been sexually assaulted is ok to you? We should just shut up and put up in that case?

Unfortunately, we also get people chanting "from the river to the sea". Not very civilised is it, wishing death on a race of people? That's the culture people are objecting to.

I agree with you. wishing death to a race of people isn’t ok either, I never said it was.

Any thoughts on the countries being discussed?

This is about a system of entry.

Sorry, but that's incredibly naive. They're hardly going to tell you they approve of the Taliban, loathe homosexuality and believe women are less than, when this will form the basis of their asylum claim.

Can you be clear on where is worse? Do you think Afghanistan and Iran are worse for women and girls than the U.K.?

Yes, they probably are, however it doesn’t follow that that makes here ok. Being the best of a shit bunch still makes you shit.

The UK is in a group of a shit bunch? Who’s in that with us?

TheOriginalEmu · Yesterday 13:18

also @LuckyHazelFox i can’t find your post now, but when you say ‘we are not a big group’ that is EXACTLY the same for Afghan and Iranian people. That’s exactly why the OPs take is ridiculous because it lumps everyone from those countries together as if they all believe the same thing. That all muslims are extremists, that all palestinians are hamas supporters, that all israelis are zionists. All of these takes are reductive and stupid. that’s my whole issue from the start.

I think i’ve answered that already. follow the thread. Let me ask you, are you ok with 90+% of women being sexually harrassed or assaulted in this country?

No you haven’t, which countries bar Iran, Afghanistan and bizarrely the U.K. are in the shit group?

You'd be psychopathic to agree with any women being assaulted. So unless you're a psychopath, it's a moot point.

I am LGBTQ, I don’t thank my lucky stars i’m here, I know all to well what we are treated like here. It may be marginally better than other countries, that doesn’t mean we should ignore the reality that we are far from perfect or safe for women.

Marginal better?!?! Gay marriage is perfectly legal here. Same sex activity is illegal and punished my death in Tehran and Kabul

Just because they are being oppressed by their government doesn't magically mean they agree with and share our cultural values.

Many will have the Pashtunwali views on society.

Where is this statistic from? It's that what 90% of women in their lives have unfortunately been treated like shit from a man?

I don't know the whole study but I think everyone in their life has once had someone who made them feel shit and small.

I guess nearly 100% of women and men in the country have had someone say something mean to them?

At this point, I'm not entirely convinced these are genuine beliefs. The alternative is more terrifying - that there are people wandering around who really do think we're only on a par with Afghanistan for human rights.

It’s concerning because of what they’d let go. If they think it’s all the same.

Unfortunately Brexit ended the Dublin agreement and a consequence is illegal immigration is easier

My thoughts entirely. This is why parties such as The greens are so dangerous - they push this sort of " right think" propaganda and before you know it, we're at a similar place to the Iranian revolution in the 70s where the extremists are in power, aided and abetted by the leftie liberals. Look how well that turned out.

Yes look at that image of the two free and happy women in the back of a car / jeep in 1970s Iran.

And what happened next. I read some of these posts with huge concern. Especially for anyone with a dd.
