What would the Left call the Right, if the small boat people were white?

I'll start by saying, I am very anti open boarders, and I am horrified that so many illegal immigrants are arriving every day. But for me, it has absolutely nothing to do with skin colour, it is more to do with :

ONE) They have no documentation, and we have no idea if they have criminal backgrounds

TWO) They tend to come from cultures where women are not respected

THREE) They often come from places where rape is not a crime

FOUR) They cannot work, and it is costing Millions to house, feed and clothe them

FIVE) We are granting asylum to some people who should never get it - like the Hamas bodyguard we heard of yesterday

Lots of valid reasons I feel, however, for me, it has nothing to do with skin colour. If I had to be locked in a room overnight with a white man from a backward culture, or a black man from the UK, I would choose the latter, every single time.

It isn't colour, it's culture

But I see that people on the Far Left just scream "Racist" to anyone who opposes illegal immigration. What would they scream, if all the small boats were full of white men? And would people still march for England?

There's more ways to use it than just colonial subjugation then, isn't there?

Quelle surprise.

You telling people they are racist doesn't make it so. There are some "key posters" who don't seem to know what racism is, unless they are talking about the use of the racist word "gammon". Debating around issues on immigration and not seeing things the same as you does not represent racism. It also doesn't make those people far right. You can keep projecting and pushing labels on people but expect the pushback. Women aren't buying it.

It’s a joke, telling people they’re racist because they notice cultural differences in attitudes towards woman. I wonder if Africans, Indians or Japanese people would be called racist if mass amounts of white peoples were placed in towns and given money from their gov whilst there’s a housing crisis and the nhs is crumbling. Having an opinion on how we want our country run and being concerned about woman’s safety doesn’t make you racist. It’s the same people shouting transphobia if you dare say you’d be uncomfortable getting changed in front of a man. There’s obviously mostly lovely asylum seekers and trans people but woman should not be gaslight when having ligitimate concerns. I’ve been left wing all my life and was pro immigration for years however the dramatic change in my home city has happened so fast and I don’t think it’s racist to not want it to continue changing at such a fast rate. And the same people calling me racist always go back to its men that’s the problem, is saying that not sexist? That’s how ridiculous they sound

So let's use your preferred terminology: you believe is that Britain is not superior to Afghanistan in our treatment of women and LGBT people.

Do you think repeatedly yelling WILD is constructive or compelling debate?

It's one word out of many words in my post. Why don't you tell us your position on the others, rather than just trying to police my tone?

I must have imagined the time about 15 years ago when a man pressed his erect penis against my bum on a Piccadilly line train.

Nearly 50 years ago, I changed jobs because I was so sick of the regular, non-consensual frottage I was subjected to while travelling on the Victoria line.

I've hated travelling by tube ever since.

"Throughout that time we have offered asylum and accepted refugees and in return we've received the Manchester Arena bombings and the Southport murders."

Both Salman Abedi and Axel Rudakabana were UK citizens born in the UK, so you really can't lay any blame at the door of refugees for their appalling crimes.

WILD.

Again, your points are unhelpfully vague. I believe the current British political system is preferable to the Afghan one. But that’s not really what you’re implying, is it? Wild, I know.

Yeah Corbyn’s usage, ie: referring to politeness and social mores, is more about class than ethnicity.

As I’ve already said the word civilised is an outdated term used as justification for subjugating people and it has no place in contemporary politics.

I wonder how many Rights would have a problem with it if they were white though. You don’t represent the Reform or other Right organisations so you wouldn’t know. I think you’re in the minority of people where this is truly about immigration.

You only have to look on Facebook to see the amount of abuse BAME people get for their skin colour or name. They can be victims of abuse themselves and still be called a boat person or some other random abuse. It’s horrific to see the increase in Racism.

I also wonder how many people would be screaming “boat people” at any one if people like Farage wasn’t whipping people into a frenzy. This just wasn’t a thing a decade ago, despite illegal immigration being a problem long before.

It’s a mechanism of division and I fear some will only see it when it’s too late.

Kindness must prevail. And no, that doesn’t mean accepting illegal immigration. But don’t pretend you don’t see the racism.

On the kindness must prevail - what do you see as a good system? Who should have entry etc

It's pretty obvious online that decades of the relentless "white man bad" characterisation has led to a massive backlash. They've already been smeared and vilified and are now immune to any more of it.

My own "fatigue" came when I was told a very boring job evaluation project was discriminating against brown women because its "white man standards" in a public meeting, where I was completely restricted in being allowed to counter this anti white racism. That wasn't Farage.

That's what's changed. People are being "racist" back now. It was inevitable when you consider how we have been vilified in our own country by people that millions don't even know why they are here. None of the reasons for their presence stack up. And they are racist to white people..

If we are in fact discussing cultural norms not political regime/legislation, then I don’t think I know enough about the complexities of Afghani cultures to compare, having never lived there. Maybe you have the experience to expand on the subject better than I can?

But earlier in the conversation you were indeed making comparative claims about Afghani and British culture -- saying neither was more civilised than the other.
