Disappointed Man GIF

Didnt know it was happening until yesterday

Broke until payday - cannot buy the glasses

Autistic 7yo will not understand nor care

Will just stick it on the telly and call it a day

Have LOVED saying 'full moon, half moon, total eclipse' to myself though 😄😩

Light meter is going down quite a lot more rapidly than usual.

It actually feels like it is starting to get darker at 50% coverage which surprises me as I thought there would be barely any difference at this stage.

20 mins to go.

Its definitely getting darker here in N london

Can it only be viewed through a tiny hole?

Pretty much
unremarkable so far

Nothing noticeably different here.
I shall be writing a letter The Times to complain.

hotmumshit · Today 18:57

I 'mumsplained' it to my dd, but mistakenly told her that the sun covers the moon 😬😬

I tried to retract but she lost interest

Dh is out front with a colander and two sticks, Ds about to pop out with an old phone camera. I might join them for the general darkness, but have no props ready. It's blooming hot here!

GasPanic · Today 18:59

Light levels are down from about 150 to 50 here now and probably over 75% coverage

hotmumshit · Today 19:00

It feels like the sun is setting here

Not long people, until we get sunsets at 4pm! ❤️

It's a weird sort of light here now (I'm in outer London), but the eclipsing sun is about to go behind the trees.

AllaMova · Today 19:01

No, I’ve been looking forward to it today, actually.

I made a pinhole projector and have been sat in the local park with a picnic alongside DP. Lots of other people are here too. It’s a lovely atmosphere.

@Gonnagetgoingreturnsagain

umm this will sound really stupid and I didn't think of it until you mentioned the word cat...

Should I be shutting all my curtains / blinds incase my cats decide to sit on the window sill and look out the window ?

CrystalSingerFan · Today 19:03

Just in case it hasn't been done upthread, this one's for you Bonnie. (Ta to the BBC thread.)

Omg?! Should I also?

My cat is sprawled across the landing (she can feel a bit of a through breeze there). I don't think she's going to leap up and look at the sun!

Yes. I was thinking of Bonnie!

And Pink Floyd.

Should play both songs.
They're the only two songs I know about eclipses.
I will impress my neighbours with my eclectic music tastes (sniffs).

I’ll see you on the dark side of the moon. One of my favorite songs ever

Leapintothelightning · Today 19:10

Standing in my windowed porch looking (indirectly) at it. It has reflected in the window quite nicely. Right at the peak and just on time a big cloud has moved across it. I don’t get the eeriness other people seem to experience, the birds haven’t stopped

My favourite album ever.
That or Black Lace does Christmas.

I can never remember which.

hotmumshit · Today 19:11

It does feel kind of eerie here

Will it get totally dark then or?

SevenYellowHammers · Today 19:13

My husband thought it was yesterday.

QuintadosMalvados · Today 19:13

Oh now this is eerie.
I don't like it. 😁

NoArmaniNoPunani · Today 19:13

What time are we supposed to see it? Been in my garden all evening and nothing yet

MrsTulip · Today 19:13

Well nothing is happening here in sunny Manchester
