I’m watching it now every few minutes with my eclipse glasses 👓

No cloud here so there’s no way you can see a thing without them the sun is obviously very bright. Be interesting to see it bang on 19.14 when 91% eclipsed.

I've got the Royal Observatory livestream thingy on YouTube. It looks less like a Jaffa Cake, more like a Babybel with a bite out of it!

We’ve had total eclipses in recent memory, it was fine.

It’s like an hour before the sun sets anyway, really underwhelming, can’t be bothered.

It feels a bit darker here but very sunny still 👀

Thinking of when exactly the eclipse was in '99 by my experiences and memories of the time when it occurred to me I could just Google it!
I suppose the lesson here is not to make yourself the centre of the universe but then neither is the sun so it need not think it is so bloody special, either.

Me and my OH are currently having a minor disagreement about this. He says he’s ’never really been into shit like that.’ And I am insistent that it’s rather ignorant to not at least be remotely interested in something scientific that happens so infrequently. A bit like people who say they don’t listen to or watch the news. So yeah, we’re not doing anything special, I didn’t buy glasses but I certainly think it’s something to discuss with your children at the very least, an opportunity for them to learn so to speak.

Edited to add: he wants me to go to KFC and me waiting to see it get darker with the kids is delaying his fat arse hungry stomach being filled so no doubt he would be more interested if I weren’t keeping him from his fried chicken.

Light meter is going down quite a lot more rapidly than usual.

It actually feels like it is starting to get darker at 50% coverage which surprises me as I thought there would be barely any difference at this stage.

I made a pin hole viewer with a box and tin foil. It's working really well - but it's making my arm ache!

Can it only be viewed through a tiny hole?

I've been outside with my watering can (watering my pots, not using it for eclipse viewing!!), and it's a smidge darker, but I'm not noticing anything amazing! The Royal Observatory has the sun about 50% eclipsed now, but in my back garden it's a bit underwhelming.
