Butt on display at lunch in south of France

I am currently having lunch in a beach restaurant and a girl with a lovely toned body is wearing a tiny thong with full ass on display. This seems to be a fashion thing and there are lots of women wearing the same cheese cutter! People are staring and some women are laughing. I find it a horrible trend and I am wondering what others think.

Regardless of the size of your bikini, you cover up at lunch imho.

I’m sure you can decide what you think without the internet’s support. I assume the restaurant wouldn’t have seated her if it contravened the dress code.

Wear what you like on the beach, but when you go to lunch you cover up. Simple.

I don't find thongs any more 'horrible' than regular bikini bottoms so I wouldn't be bothered either way.

I'm sure you'll get the "its only bum cheeks" lot on here soon to slap you down, but I'm in agreement in a restaurant/supermarket you cover up.

Well recently I was out for drinks and all the waitresses were wearing trousers with their chunky thongs pulled above them whale tail style. It was incredibly weird to see people working with their pants on show but I assume that I am now old. I’m all for it on a night out, whatever, but at work?

I’ve seen so many this summer that I’m desensitised to them and don’t give them a second glance.

No, I wouldn't. However, It's a beach restaurant and while I would cover up, it's not unusual for people to wear their bikinis while eating if the restauran tis on the beach. The OP's objection seemed to be the thong, not that people were eating in their swimwear, but maybe i got the wrong end of the stick?

Is she in the restaurant or on the beach and you can see it from the beach restaurant? Your post isn't clear.

In any event, if people are staring and laughing that says more about their character than the person in the bikini bottoms.

I wouldn't want to knowingly sit somewhere where a bare arse has sat. Urgh, on so many levels.

Clue is it is a "beach" restaurant. Expect bikinis.Go eat a few streets inland where there is a dress code and you wont need to see.

Depends on the place but it's not that unusual to stay in swimwear if you're eating on the beach and thong bikinis are completely normal these days. Surprised anyone is reacting at all (especially as she's presumably sitting down).

It really isn't.

I lived in the South of France as a child and teenager. Most shops, restaurants and cafes have signs that say that bare chests for men or wearing swimsuits only are not allowed on their premises. That includes establishment alongside the beach.

It has stayed the same every time I have visited since moving to the UK. So it really is not normal or common as far as I am concerned.

Perhaps laughing at her will persuade her to cover up- it sounds vulgar and attention seeking.
