Butt on display at lunch in south of France

I am currently having lunch in a beach restaurant and a girl with a lovely toned body is wearing a tiny thong with full ass on display. This seems to be a fashion thing and there are lots of women wearing the same cheese cutter! People are staring and some women are laughing. I find it a horrible trend and I am wondering what others think.

But she’s on the beach! She’s at a beach bar /cafe, she’s said the chairs are sinking into the sand. And hasn’t answered if other people are in swimwear as well, or if this thing lady is the only one in swimwear. I think the problem is the size of the swimwear, not that she’s wearing swimwear. Which is odd. No one seems to be wearing a full pant this summer!

I live in the South of France close to a beach. While we do see people in things in the beach you would not see them in a beach restaurant or in the town. There are specific bye-laws for this in my area. So I would not be surprised she is getting stares. It’s very rude and slightly crass. Is she French?

And yet, men have to wear speedo style swimming outfits, not shorts, in 99% of public pools for hygiene reasons, yet that’s normal (not having a go at you, @MargoMyDear but blimey, the double standards!

I echo many pp, cover up at lunch, it’s poor etiquette, imo. There’s a guy on the local neighbourhood app who is posting lots of topless selfies currently. I don’t want to see anyone without a top on unless it’s on a beach!

Honestly, how many times does it have to be pointed out that this woman is ON A BEACH.

There is no restaurant.

But how do you keep the anus covered up in a thong, surely it slips a bit and that makes it gross on the seats?

Not sure what your anus looks like but mine manages to stay where it needs to regardless of what cut of pants I'm wearing.

How do people with weak bladders stop themselves from pissing a bit on seats?

Seats have all sorts of arses and fluids and gross stuff on them.

Also - thong's doesn't slip off your anus because your anus is at the 'bottom' of a crevice. It's like saying careful not to fall out of that revene - there's nowhere to fall (or slip)!

I love mumsnet- only here could we go from "someone wearing a bikini at a beach" to "people rubbing their anus on chairs" in less than 6 pages.

I was in Bandol this week. There were posters by the beach telling you to put your clothes on in town. That included shirts for men. Everyone looked appropriately dressed to me. And it was high 30s.

What does it matter
If the restaurant/ cafe have an issue they will say something
It's a bum..we all have one
No one wants to see mine ,so I keep it well covered
Plus your at the beach ..at least she has some clothes on

So where I live we have paillotes which are restaurants that have a dispensation to set up straight on the beach. You can also drink there. There are tables and chairs and awnings etc…. They are restaurants with menus and waiting staff. It would not be expected to wear your swimming things ( men or women) there. You would be expected to cover up. The only exception would be private beach clubs where you hire deck chairs and parasols and can have drinks and food brought to you. In that case of course you would be in swimwear.
