5th date last night, ended up back at mine and had sex. Have really enjoyed his company and green flags galore up to that point so it felt natural. This morning, he text to say how much he enjoyed last night and wants to see me again (he suggested a date idea). I replied agreeing and discussing potential dates which work. He then referred to last night and said ‘shame its not Cheltenham racing this time of the year as you would be a great jockey’. I played dumb and asked what he meant, he said he was just joking. Is that an acceptable joke for you because it feels a bit seedy for my liking?! But I do think a lot of him from dates so far.

Who passed the winning post first? It would have made me grin.

So nice guys don’t like vigorous sex in your mind?

Yes nice guy sex is horizontal with the lights off. The way most of MN likes it apparently.

DancingNotDrowning · 10/08/2026 07:14

It was a silly joke, a bit juvenile but certainly not a red flag.

and honestly you were mean playing dumb and deliberately trying to embarrass him - that’s the real red flag.

Most texts referencing enjoying sex the night before would be slightly cringe - you’ve got to find your level with a new partner and I’d much rather a jokey compliment rather than a formal missive regarding my heaving bosom or some such other cringe.

Completely agree with this.

Playing dumb was either mean or a stupid attempt to act coy and innocent, after having had sex. Much like shutting the stable door after the horse had bolted, to keep with the equine theme.

UpDownAllAround1 · 10/08/2026 07:33

not seedy at all

Sartre · 10/08/2026 07:34

Well it’s crass but if he’s otherwise nice I’d overlook it, just a silly joke.

BendyDickCumbInMySnatch · 10/08/2026 07:39

I'd be signing all my texts off with Dobbin 😂

66babe · 10/08/2026 07:39

Maybe he’s hoping you would reply .. “ well you were hung like a stallion and I can hardly sit down this morning “
It wouldn’t be a deal breaker for me if everything else was great but it’s a shit joke

HeBeaverandSheBeaver · 10/08/2026 07:42

It’s up to you if you find it crass and cheap then you might get the icky and that’s ok.

tbh it would give me the ick after so soon a relationship but everyone is different

5128gap · 10/08/2026 07:42

A lack of shared sense of humour can be a problem. Because it's not something that can be changed. People find things funny or cringeworthy or they dont. So if it becomes a pattern that his jokes make you wince, he may nor be right for you.

InWithPeaceOutWithStress · 10/08/2026 07:46

It’s seedy and immature.

SaltySpitoon · 10/08/2026 07:49

It's a bit cringe but definitely not a deal breaker.

Pleasedontdoitagain · 10/08/2026 07:51

Well at least he compared you to the jockey and not a mare. That's the only positive thing about this gross comment.

Bonsaibaby · 10/08/2026 07:53

It’s very Jilly Cooper

KamikazePigeon · 10/08/2026 07:54

It's a joke. He enjoyed sex with you. There's not much more to it than that. I'd have responded, 'Does that make you a stallion? 😉'

But since you're posting here for advice, I have to wonder if you're really that into him.

Nowthatshuge · 10/08/2026 07:57

Jesus when did everyone get so easily offended and up tight, he’s said nothing derogatory and nothing particularly crude either, they’ve had sex already it’s not like this is overstepping is it!
I wouldn’t laugh my head off at it but I wouldn’t take any offence either, would probably make me smile he clearly enjoyed himself and wants more

DonaldWheresMaTweezers · 10/08/2026 08:08

It's not a red flag - it might be that your sense of humour isn't compatible with his in the longer term, but I'd see how things go.

Sharing a sense of humour is important in a long term relationship, but you're barely past the starting post; I'd get a bit further round the course before unseating him!

TwisterSpice · 10/08/2026 08:10

I swear some people are just looking for something to be offended by 😂 he said you were great in bed. YABU.

Agree

Princejoffyjaffur · 10/08/2026 08:12

Take it as a compliment. You're overthinking it.

ImpossibleGermany · 10/08/2026 08:18

Well it's obviously a reference to you being on top and riding him with enthusiasm. Did you?

It's a bit of a cheesy joke but it's hardly offensive given that you have had sex with him. Assuming you had a great time and want to do it again, I find it odd that your instinct is to prudish and uncomfortable about it, rather than just laughing and take in in the spirit in which it was meant.

ImpossibleGermany · 10/08/2026 08:26

I must say, my instinct for immediately sniffing out threads where, when I do an advance search on the OP, I just know I am going to find no other posts under that name is really, really strong. Honestly, I am Olympic gold level at it. Hardly ever wrong.

Sadly I don't think that says much about me and my detective skills. I think it says rather a lot about how predictable and formulaic so many of the possibly not entirely genuine threads on MN have become in the last year or two.

Not that I am calling it on this thread, I have no comment on that. I couldn't possibly say. That's not allowed.

YoungSoak · 10/08/2026 08:27

Giddy up horsey! 😂

Disturbia81 · 09/08/2026 21:31

that... is OP insulted bcz someone said she was a great Ride?

shockmethen · 09/08/2026 22:25

So nice guys don’t like vigorous sex in your mind?

Oh give over. Watch the ‘Heartbreak Kid’ with Ben Stiller. Yes, vigorous sex has its place but if you’re riding for the Cheltenham gold cup every time, an emotionally intelligent guy might be looking for more variety when being intimate.

PhilosophicalCheeseSandwich · 10/08/2026 08:35

There aren't many ways to pay that compliment without it making you cringe to some extent. 'You're a skilled lovemaker. Your stamina when on top is most impressive.' I'd take the crap joke better than a factual review.
