5th date last night, ended up back at mine and had sex. Have really enjoyed his company and green flags galore up to that point so it felt natural. This morning, he text to say how much he enjoyed last night and wants to see me again (he suggested a date idea). I replied agreeing and discussing potential dates which work. He then referred to last night and said ‘shame its not Cheltenham racing this time of the year as you would be a great jockey’. I played dumb and asked what he meant, he said he was just joking. Is that an acceptable joke for you because it feels a bit seedy for my liking?! But I do think a lot of him from dates so far.

It's not the most hilarious joke in the world, but I wouldn't consider it a deal breaker.

somanychristmaslights · 09/08/2026 21:30

Well it depends. Has his character been jokey the whole time? Or is this out the blue?
i’d reply something in a jokey way to tell him his jokes are for teenage boys. I’d get ChatGPT to write me something witty 🤣

LemonSnail · 09/08/2026 21:31

This would give me the ick and it’s not even funny.

Lastqueenofscotland2 · 09/08/2026 21:31

It’s a bit juvenile but echo the above, wouldn’t be a dealbreaker at all.

Disturbia81 · 09/08/2026 21:31

He’s saying you were great in bed

TheLambtonWorm · 09/08/2026 21:32

Same as PP. I'd roll my eyes and cringe hoping he didn't act like that again but it wouldn't be a deal breaker and I'd certainly say something if they start to become a more permanent feature. When DH and I met his only red flag was the cringe, overtly sexual texts, I just said look I don't like that, it ends or we do. And they did 😂

Hankunamatata · 09/08/2026 21:32

Tbh it would make me chuckle in cringe way. Its really bad qay of saying he enjoyed sex.
Guess he was hoping you would reply with something racey.

Fansonmaximum · 09/08/2026 21:33

Presumably referring to you on top riding him?

a bit of a crass joke - but I think a backhanded compliment .

couldn’t get too stressed over this.

comofn · 09/08/2026 21:34

If was a joke a bit of fun. Yeah cringe but nothing major. Take as a compliment 😂

MaggieBsBoat · 09/08/2026 21:34

Don’t overthink it. It’s a lousy joke but if everything else is fine why make this one thing a dealbreaker. If this is the sort of thing that would end a relationship then any long term relationship is doomed …with anyone!

Boom Boom
(if intentional)

DaisyChain505 · 09/08/2026 21:37

He’s trying to (poorly) compliment you on your sexual techniques and is letting you know he enjoyed it.

This is exactly what I thought too, I’d probably read it and roll my eyes (but still chuckle in a cringe way), it wouldn’t be a deal breaker for me at all

Sassylovesbooks · 09/08/2026 21:40

I'd take that as him meaning that you were enthusiastically riding him, like a jockey rides a horse! He was in a roundabout way, complimenting you! I wouldn't give the comment headspace in all honesty. If you like him, then just see how it goes.

TheFormerMrsTruelove · 09/08/2026 21:40

I’d be a bit disappointed in his sense of humour, but it wouldn’t upset me.

Tunnocks34 · 09/08/2026 21:40

Crass but it wouldn’t be a deal breaker for me if everything else was good. I’d probably say something along the lines of ‘that jokey joke didn’t land with me’ if you feel so inclined, and move on. Or just ignore it.

PopcornKitten · 09/08/2026 21:44

It’s a compliment! He had a good night. :-)

Tink3rbell30 · 09/08/2026 21:59

Is he taking the piss out of your riding style? 😂

Cantering87 · 09/08/2026 22:03

I hate most men, this isn’t funny but I still don’t think it’s terrible, it’s an attempt to say how great it was which is good if you feel the same. Not a deal breaker IMO just proceed with your spider senses tingling.

This exactly. It's not nasty or sleazy.

Coco852 · 09/08/2026 22:11

I would text back <cringe>

Screamingabdabz · 09/08/2026 22:12

It’s definitely a reference to your ‘riding’ style. It might be that he is using humour to gently let you know you were a bit vigorous, or maybe a bit fast? A bit like the male equivalent of going like a jackhammer? If he’s a nice guy, he might want something a bit slower and more connection.

These are all guesses though. Only he can tell you.

Horse racey presumably.
