What would you think of this message from someone you slept with?

5th date last night, ended up back at mine and had sex. Have really enjoyed his company and green flags galore up to that point so it felt natural. This morning, he text to say how much he enjoyed last night and wants to see me again (he suggested a date idea). I replied agreeing and discussing potential dates which work. He then referred to last night and said ‘shame its not Cheltenham racing this time of the year as you would be a great jockey’. I played dumb and asked what he meant, he said he was just joking. Is that an acceptable joke for you because it feels a bit seedy for my liking?! But I do think a lot of him from dates so far.

I suppose the question then is - is there a way that a new partner could give either of you a compliment about how good you were in bed the night before that would not feel disrespectful? It helps to distil whether the objection is to the message or to the mode of delivery.

Yes.its not the message so much as the crass delivery. I wouldn't have a problem with being told they had a good time . I think the imagery is a bit pisstakey , maybe

It wasn't a positive comment. It was a singling out, objectifying, joke about her performance. He should have left it with saying he had really enjoyed their night.

Mortified doesn't imply very strong feelings, and it is neither here or there how I would feel as I am not the OP, who has in any case decided to end it with this man as she feels uncomfortable getting this message.

I find it sad if a woman doesn't understand or value a more romantic approach from a man. There is nothing romantic or passionate about that message. He sounds like a gurning oaf.

Yes. This sums up how I would feel

Rewis · 10/08/2026 15:16

I would have taken it as a slightly naughty joke. A bit cringe and mildly amusing.

It's a childish phrase to start with and at this point in 2026 it's such an overused, meaningless cliche.

Whatever. It's not crude like the jockey comment. Yuck.

Not as childish as OP's (soon to be ex) boyfriend's comment.

KamikazePigeon · 10/08/2026 15:52

I've gotten my smelling salts out and am firmly clutching my pearls.

How dare he joke about her riding him like a jockey after she rode him like a jockey!

Is there no etiquette left in the world?

diddl · 10/08/2026 15:53

I'd probably think that he was making fun of me tbh.

Notaboutthebass · 10/08/2026 15:57

It's childish! And always gives me the ick, so early on.

StarlightLady · 10/08/2026 16:07

People using "ick" and "childish" in the same post, sometimes the same sentence?????

ElectricLegs · 10/08/2026 16:15

The Diplomatic Corps training is so lax these days, but I feel sure that the perfect match is just around the corner.....probably

Arsenal25 · 10/08/2026 16:39

Well I am feeling vindicated after his response to my perfectly polite message earlier. He initially replied in a kind manner then followed it up with ‘can’t lie, a bit gutted I never got to sample that arse 😂‘

Bullet dodged!

Too right.

Bullet dodged - for him.

I'm more offended by the use of "can't lie". It's like "giving 110%" or people who constanly have "to be fair".

I'd tell him he was a good horsey, but there's a big paddock out there you'd like to ride around.

Tink3rbell30 · 10/08/2026 16:49

Well done, after his latest response you did the right thing! A lot of some people's standards on here are in the gutter unfortunately.

Lord a mercy. Is it any wonder so many women are choosing to stay single? He will probably be whining about the male loneliness epidemic to his pals at the weekend. And blaming women.

Smells like something from the farmyard to me.

What does he mean by sampling your arse? Anal? Revolting man!!

Rimming, I imagine.

I didn’t reply to ask, unsurprisingly. But he did ‘jokingly’ reference that when drunk, so I’d imagine so.

Yes it does seem to be taking the piss rather than 'complimentary' as so many very keen women have excitedly suggested.

OonaStubbs · 10/08/2026 17:38

I do not see any need to mention sex in conversation at all. Men should be happy enough just to get sex from us, having to discuss it afterwards is beyond the pale IMO.

I tnink it's nice and normal to have sex chat just this wasn't. 'Riding' like you're over enthusiastically riding a horse is mocking.
