AIBU to worry 100F in Zante will ruin our holiday?

Help.
Really worrying.
Suffer terribly with lifelong anxiety which can spiral.
On Friday we're going for holiday in Zante.
This is my first holiday in 20 years.
Taking my 3 teenagers who have never been on holiday.
Really want to be excited but I am petrified about the weather temperature. The met office is saying 100 degrees Fahrenheit when we are there.
When we booked, the travel agent lady said it would be late 80s Fahrenheit.
We will have pool and beach but lots of people are telling me the temperature is going to ruin my holiday as it's a heatwave in Zante.
I'm so upset. I expected heat, but not 100 degrees Fahrenheit every day 😣
Has anyone been there in such heat who could advise? DC are so excited and I am a ball of anxiety about the temperature and can't share their excitement.

So in English the travel agent said the typical temperature is 32 C but its actually going to be 37C.

I hear you. There are heatwaves all over Europe at the moment but nobody expects 100 degrees. Late eighties is fine. The sea breeze, ocean and swimming pool will help.

You will be fine. Your hotel should have air con. Make sure you spend some time inside during the hottest part of the day. It won’t feel as hot out there as it would here. Drink lots of water, take lots of suncream and do any trips very early in the day. Take rashvests for pool or beach to limit chances of burning. I hope you have a lovely time.

Well it will be hot, but most hotels have very decent air con. Just go prepared and take fans, cooling towels etc. Make sure you keep well hydrated and in and out of the pool/sea regularly to cool down. Also stick to the shade. It is going to be hot, but only a little higher than Greece might normally expect for August, I think your travel agen is mistaken as 80f is only about 26c which would be unusually cool.

That’s not too bad OP - too hot for sightseeing but not for lazing at pool and beach - you’ll have a brilliant time

Agree with pp pool, relaxing under an umbrella and sea breeze will all help. TBH I think high temperatures are easier when you have nothing to do but relax.

Make sure you've got aircon and a pool where you're staying, if it's going to be really hot. It is always hot there.

Best place to be during a heatwave - the sea and pools will cool you down and you’ll sleep well because of the aircon! Enjoy it - it’ll be great

It was over 40⁰ when I was there last year. The days in the 30z were a blessing 😆. Shade. Pool. It'll be fine.

You will be fine. The heat in this country is exhausting, sweaty and draining. I always find foreign heat = dry heat much more manageable. You will be able to enter the pool without having to flinch at the coldness of the water.

Don't overthink it, enjoy morning and late afternoon / evening time to be outside. Midday is the time to take advantage of air conditioned rooms and a light lunch.

OP we were in the Baelerics recently where the real feel temperature hit 39° with 80% humidity. Tbh, it was pretty awful and we could only go out early in the morning and late afternoon. Thankfully we had air con in all the bedrooms.

As other people have said tons of water, regular dips in the sea and pool and you'll cope.

I just looked at the forecast online & Zante is saying low 30s. As mentioned, your rooms will have aircon, the pool & sea will be nearby to keep cool, and probably a sea breeze - relax & enjoy…

It was anywhere between 42 and 46 last year in August . It was pretty unbearable in rhe direct heat. I relied on the swimming pool to cool off. ( it had a bridge over it so I hid under that , used a cabana . Used the shelter over the bar area . Applied factor 50 every 15 minutes , and set an alarm, I got through bottles of it which is cheap enough if you've got a SAVERS near you . Drank water all the time , no alcohol apart from a couple iced cocktails in the evenings
A cap , like a baseball cap , never had one in my life but that sun on my head hurt too much
Wet towels , wet them and put them over you , lay on them , keep them soaked..

No beach it was just too hot and will literally burn your feet walking on sand

You will be fine! Lots of cool dips, cool drinks and shade. Won’t feel as hot there either as it’s not as humid.

I mean, you'll be fine, but it limits everything. I was a prisoner in my air con room. Ive decided that I dont want to go away later than April/May in future but we dont have that luxury with dc. There was no point getting ready for the evenings either as doing hair and make up was a waste of time. The family enjoyed it more than me, but I couldn't go for walks or sightsee. I did go out really early one morning but it was still too much. So, in summary, its fine but a bit of a waste.

Zante is always scorching in August! But it’s fine. Aircon, shade, plenty of sun screen, lots of time in the pool or sea, lots of water. You will have a great time xx

I’m in Greece, it was 36° today. We went on a boat, snorkelled in the sea, went in the pool. I would recommend the ´lilos’ that are 2 pillows at either end of a net as you can lie in the water and read your book. Our room has air con but most bars just have fans. It’s fine. Have a frozen cocktail!

It's what happens when you book in August.

It will be much more bearable there than it was here the other week when we had it in the mid 30s. There, you will have the pool, air con and it won’t be as humid as here so it is more tolerable
