AIBU to worry 100F in Zante will ruin our holiday?

Help.
Really worrying.
Suffer terribly with lifelong anxiety which can spiral.
On Friday we're going for holiday in Zante.
This is my first holiday in 20 years.
Taking my 3 teenagers who have never been on holiday.
Really want to be excited but I am petrified about the weather temperature. The met office is saying 100 degrees Fahrenheit when we are there.
When we booked, the travel agent lady said it would be late 80s Fahrenheit.
We will have pool and beach but lots of people are telling me the temperature is going to ruin my holiday as it's a heatwave in Zante.
I'm so upset. I expected heat, but not 100 degrees Fahrenheit every day 😣
Has anyone been there in such heat who could advise? DC are so excited and I am a ball of anxiety about the temperature and can't share their excitement.

we were in Corfu last August and the heat got up to late 30s, even 40 at some points, so more than 100 Fahrenheit (I’m old school too!).

it was fine. Pool, beach, air con, water. We had a lovely time.

It's going to be hot, but more bareable in Zante.
I have been there in a heatwave of 40c about ten/ fifteen years ago. The hotel and beach was ok, the only time I really felt really ill from the heat was when I was standing on a packed bus into town.
The AC was always really good, especially in the lobby.

Ive been in Greece when the temperature hit 45° due to a heatwave.
Now that was hot.

I go every year, you'll be fine at the temperature you've been told.

Its a different heat to our heatwaves.

Drink plenty of water, go into the hotel or your room if you need to cool off, sit under a brolly on the beach or by the pool and dip in and out of the water.

Plenty of sunscreen, keep applying it and definitely get hats, I use a hat for sitting by the pool to protect my head (once had sunburn on my hair parting) and it'll shade your eyes if you read.

Id be more concerned about not letting your DC burn as they'll probably be in and out of the water so make sure they keep applying sunscreen.

Cotton sun dresses are fab for walking around or shorts and a vest but I take a cotton sarong (tied to my bag) to use as a shawl to protect my shoulders, if I feel like I'm burning.

When walking around or going on excursions make sure dc have a t-shirt or similar to protect them from the sun.

OP, you mustn't go to Zante and not take a boat trip to the famous Navagio (shipwreck) beach, with its beautiful bright blue water.

Just try and book a morning trip and enjoy!

Early morning will be the best time. Up at 6am for a walk in the cool weather. Back for breakfast at 8am. Then go to the pool for a few hours. Then back to your room for a shower and then have lunch, then siesta in your room until 5pm. Then go to the beach for a few hours. Then a very late dinner around 9pm go to bed at midnight.

Take shoes for walking on the beach and a cotton cover up or sarong.

The forecast says 34/35c, so definitely hot but manageable.

Billions of people worldwide cope just fine with "such heat" for months of every year, and always have. I can't believe you've managed to work yourself up to "petrified" over a lovely summer's day 😆

Get a battery operated hand held fan for each of you, since you're such a wuss this will be useful. They're available all over Amazon and the internet. Make sure you wear sunblock, even in the shade, and reapply it after the water. Wear a hat, stay hydrated. Sorted.

It's so much worse to have to deal with the freezing, miserable winter cold.

At least you'll have air conditioning, pool and beach which is better than what most people have in the UK heatwave! Just enjoy it!!

This is a perfectly manageable temperature. Just stick by the pool/beach, spend some time having a drink indoors if needed and avoid sightseeing between 11 and 3 and you'll be fine! Enjoy topping up that Vitamin D OP.

37 c is fine. I’m currently abroad and it’s over 40 every day. Still sightseeing as well. Pool cools you off, being under a parasol is good.

think it depends on how you react to the heat and what you want from your holiday. I’m returning home today from a country where it’s been 40 degrees in average and I can’t wait - my town is 20 degrees currently! I’m an active person and hate lying by the pool so I’ve been pretty miserable not being able to get out for a run or explore like i usually do. I will caveat this by saying Im in menopause so that has affected my body to cool itself down. DH and the DCs have enjoyed theirselves being out on the sea doing water sports. I realise I sound utterly ungrateful but I think going forwards I’ll be looking at cool places for holidays (am a teacher so restricted to school holidays for going away).

Siesta, breaks from the heat, plenty of water and lots of dipping in the pool and sea will see you right. I bet you have a fab time.

I thought that about the American thing but then I didn’t think an American would be so horrified by that temperature as it is not unusual in America. Unless she’s from Alaska. Is she?

The Met Office don't use Fahrenheit.

Is it drivel? Is it predictive? (Predictable?) The OP clearly didn’t predict it? At what point are grown adults responsible and accountable for the decisions they make despite there being easily accessible information that might have made them make a different decision?
