AIBU to worry about taking enough sunscreen in cabin luggage?

I've never been overseas before.
Going to Greece in 2 days with 2 little DC.
Easyjet.
We are taking cabin luggage only.
100mls restriction for any lotions.
I am really worried about sunscreen for DC.
What do people do?? I00mls sunscreen wont last 2 weeks for both DC, as I'm planning on smothering them in it every couple of hours and every time they get out of sea.
I've been told it's twice the price or poor quality to buy in Crete.
Can i buy it at Gatwick or will they ban me from taking it on the plane?

There seems to be mixed messages about the liquid rule, with some people saying its been relaxed and others disagreeing.

I flew out of Manchester in May and everything including ipads and,liquids was kept in your bag. I flew from Liverpool last week and everything was out. I even had to take my hoody off which I didnt in Manchester.

My point is, if you are uncertain about your airport, check before you go as there is some misinformation.

Yes, I do. It’s not much for two weeks.

I don’t want to ‘focus my mind’ on holiday. I want the freedom to pack what I want and not stress about buying toiletries!

We travel with cabin luggage only but bring one bottle for a family of 4 (flying out of London airports so no liquid restrictions), with the aim of using it all up on the trip so we won't bring any home. We only apply it on face neck and hands as rash vests and long splash leggings cover arms and legs, and we cover up with hats and towelling robes once out of the water. We buy cheap Nivea sunscreen on multibuy so paying airport or overseas prices would be annoying.

Some of you must be diabolical at packing a suitcase, I can easily fit 10 days worth of clothes into a large cabin bag.
I went to Greece 2,weeks ago and fit..
10 dresses (like to have a different outfit every night)
5 pairs of shorts
1 skirt
7 tops
4 bikinis
2 swim coverups.
If you roll them it fits easily and I didn’t actually end up wearing everything I packed.

Of all the sightseeing things I want to do on holiday, it doesn’t include looking for a launderette. And as another poster says how many men are going to the launderette.

@SeasideDaisy what about towels if you are going to the beach, inflatables for the pool, snorkels, goggles/masks etc. How many pairs of shoes, cardigans etc? And you say you have gone large cabin bag, so I assume not the one which fits under the seat

Carry on allowance is 20K cabin bag plus handbag on BA. Often better flight times too.

They also sell sunscreen in Botswana but I take your point.

But they're only any use for European holidays if you live near the London airports.

I wear one pair of sandals and pack an extra pair. Inflatables take no room at all and the hotel provided towels.
It’s was 30 degrees plus in Greece, so no need to take cardigans or jackets. My kids are to old for pool toys but even when they were little I didn’t take toys.. they’d happily spend all day going up and down waterslides.
And yes large cabin bags, I’m assuming that’s what op meant aswell.

Buy it at the airport after security

I would buy as much as you can in the UK but be mindful of your weight restrictions, i am assuming you only get 10kg which is not a lot for 2 weeks. You can easily find suncream on holiday but it is expensive, for example a bottle of Nivea in Cyprus was 16Euros, whereas my aldi ones were £2.50.

We have no stress 🤷

We're going for 10 nights & I've managed quite easily to fit everything in our cabin bag (10kg allowance). I always usually take far too much anyway

Buy the type that only needs to be applied once per day. I have used Ultrasun for years now- and no one burns. It's more expensive, but it lasts longer of course.

Buy it before you leave, or see if you can pre-order to pick up in Boots after security.

Good for you. But this is OP’s first holiday abroad, so would probably have been better to book a case and take the liquid stress away.

I bought Nivea factor 50 sunscreen in Crete for about the same price as Boots. Chill.

I'm only this good because I have to be. I wasn't going to pay the extortionate fee for 3 hold bags each way, when the larger cabin bag was about half the price, we get priority boarding & no need to wait around for our bags the other end. If a large hold bag was included however you can be sure I'd be using every square inch of space 😊

Absolutely, I like to travel with Jet2 as much as possible, as the baggage is included but Ryanair and other’s costs are extortionate.

But don’t you start from a low cost for the flight with RyanAir. I think people forget (or are too young) to remember the times when all flights were expensive but included everything like generous luggage allowance and meals

I don’t actually find Ryanair, EasyJet et al that cheap anymore, so when you add on baggage, they are expensive. But, my original point was not just getting cabin baggage when travelling for 2 weeks with children. I think I’d fork out for one hold bag. Or do a package deal.
