AIBU to worry about large numbers of undocumented men arriving in Spain?

1000 replies

MaturingCheeseball · 30/07/2026 17:34

Thousands of young men from Morocco and beyond swimming to Spain. Spain obviously has encouraged the problem with their amnesty for existing migrants, but thousands more arriving with no means of support and undocumented is going to cause huge problems. Large numbers will no doubt be ultimately trying to reach the UK.

It’s harsh, but we cannot accept infinite numbers of men.

Yeah that’s true but we can’t leave the ECHR so the only alternatives we have are either third country agreements like Rwanda, which the court blocked, or trying to process claims as quick as we can and hope for stormy weather.

It doesn’t matter how many threads people make or how many times you threaten to vote for Reform, there is no other option. There is one solution and Labour is doing it.

We can leave the ECHR. It’s just until now there has been no political will to do so.

Unfortunately those laws don’t apply only to war-zone areas. They pretend to be gay escaping persecution and a lot of other blatant lies. It’s easy, if they refuse you sure you just stay in the country illegally.

They've got some cheek pretending to be the people they openly despise.

TopPocketFind · 30/07/2026 20:28

AccidentallyWesAnderson · 30/07/2026 20:23

No.

Still not a reason to let in undocumented men from misogynistic cultures. Why don’t the defenders of this pop over to Sudan or Afghanistan for a jolly and see how you get on.

Just women and children then?

The UK has signed up the 1951 Refugee Convention, we have responsiblilities

We also have options to make the asylum process more effective, offshore processing, safe routes for example.

It doesn't help that the UK lost access to Eurodac.

MissyB1 · 30/07/2026 18:24

Are you in Spain? Surely this is for the Spanish to decide? I’m in the UK.

Do you think none of them are planning to move to the UK? Really???

EppingTrain · 30/07/2026 20:29

Why is everyone just ignoring the data and saying "white men bad". Saying "Southport rioters bad" yes that group has bad men but it doesn't magically make what they are saying wrong

If Jeffrey Epstein said "rape is bad" that doesn't make that statement untrue.

MaturingCheeseball · 30/07/2026 20:29

mrshoho · 30/07/2026 20:23

They can't be seeking asylum if they are from Morocco though can they? So are they coming as migrant workers? Why are they running in like that? Does this tie in with the King of Morocco's early prison release/pardon day?

Oh dear, yes. Same as Albania, which a few years ago released prisoners and gave them a passport. Byeee!

Leave the convention. Not all countries are in it.

Spain as compared to the UK is a safer country, with better public healthcare, constitutionally protected fundamental rights, employment laws which protect employees properly from discrimination, proper policies on addressing gender imbalance in the workplace, in the home, in large companies and in our political parties, less violent crime, proper rehabilitation programs and humane prisons, proper laws to protect victims of domestic violence, better protection for children and fewer bigots.

We have humane immigration laws geared towards assisting those in an irregular situation to regularise it and live and work here. The UK should give it a try.

Don't worry - I doubt many people who can live here will want to move to the UK in its current state.

That is what I basically said, that the Moroccan people coming into Spain will likely want to stay there. But that won't stop the frothing from some in the UK about this. Or the demonising of Moroccan people, which we have already seen on this and other threads today.

Oh yes, all these women and children coming over. Must’ve missed those.

There was nothing wrong with the Rwanda deal.

And it was a deterrent.
Loads of illegals started heading for Southern Ireland. (Either via the ferry from Holyhead or through the NI Border)

chirrupybird · 30/07/2026 20:19

We have a falling birth rate, immigration is part of the solution so the country can survive.

Get a grip. The birth rate is falling because of financial reasons mostly, you want people to keep paying for this, taxes to death, rent increase massive due to the need for housing to house immigrants. Wouldn’t it be nice if the citizens could afford to raise their own children rather than importing children.

I love Spain, really love it, but this post is just more hate aimed at the UK, and mostly not even correct.
I'd agree with you on the health care in general. We have protected fundamental rights too, including for women and single sex spaces. We have strong employment laws to protect against discrimination. We have proper policies around the SEX imbalance. You have marginally less violent crime, and i mean by a tiny margin, so no, its not much safer. https://movingtospain.com/is-spain-safe-10-factors-compared-to-us-and-uk/ and obviously we also have laws to protect against domestic violence. You have a really bizarre take on the UK, I can only think you've confused our laws and protections with another country.

There was nothing wrong with the Rwanda deal.

It cost £200k per deportee and the Supreme Court said it was unlawful.

EppingTrain · 30/07/2026 20:33

Official demographic and judicial statistics indicate that individuals of Moroccan nationality or origin register a higher per capita crime and conviction rate than native populations in several European countries, including Spain and the Netherlands.

I'm not sure why the pp brought billionnaires into the thread. It's not as though all billionnaires are white anyway, was my point about Dubai.

Ah right you've lost me. What has the colour of peoples skin got to do with anything? Billionaires and migrants can come in any shade. I don't think that that poster was saying that the colour of billionaires skin is the problem.

I never get this argument. Yes we have enough of our own arseholes that we can’t do anything about, so let’s just let in more undocumented men from places where people don’t visit/go anywhere near for a reason, where women are treated like second class citizens, and homosexuality is a no no, as a starter for ten for potential problems.

Because you know, the majority of rapists are white men so it’s ok. 🙄

Make that make sense.

It won’t make sense because the only answer they have is “look over there, there’s a white man, he could be a rapist”
Followed by more misdirection

EppingTrain · 30/07/2026 20:34

DontSayItsOver · 30/07/2026 20:32

Parliament is sovereign so the Sunak government passed a law deeming Rwanda legally safe and thus making the plan legal. I'd rather the illegal migrants leave the country and be somewhere else.

DeterminedRat · 30/07/2026 19:32

You should read about Epstein, Maxwell and their mates. It'll blow your mind.

You should hear about the grooming gangs and the cover up and lack of an inquiry by the government. It will blow your mind.

DontSayItsOver · 30/07/2026 20:32

Another absurdity that has been somewhat lost in this debate is the existence of the Supreme Court altogether.
Until former Labour prime minister Tony Blair introduced this, Britain’s highest court, Parliament, was for hundreds of years the country’s supreme legal authority. Now, decisions made by elected representatives in Parliament and approved by the monarch can be undone by this unelected and anti-constitutional Supreme Court.😡

MaturingCheeseball · 30/07/2026 20:37

@OneStarAwake “demonising Moroccan people” - absolutely not. I know Moroccan people in Morocco . They are living life as ordinary professional people. The problem is the underclass of young males with nothing to offer and “traditional” views, if you like.

To turn it round, if thousands of our NEETS decided to turn up en masse in, say, Switzerland, would you be castigating the Swiss for being a bit wary about their arrival?

That was written in 1951. It is ridiculous to apply it in 2026, almost 70 years later. It was written to cope with the aftermath of WW2, among people who were culturally similar. Mostly Christian. Not to absorb hundreds of thousands of Muslim economic migrants.

Incorporate necessary legislation domestically.

Amend whatever is needed. We definitely need to just be able to detain, deport and remove these people.

Yes, it is scary, many spent years in the Uk but had no problem claiming asylum here, even those with criminal records. As I said before on a thread, one man killed a 8 year old, slashed throat, he’d been only released from prison in the UK for rape. Cane here claimed asylum. It’s a sick joke. The destabilisation of Europe is happening at lightning speed. I cannot understand why no one in authority is stopping this.
