AIBU to worry about large numbers of undocumented men arriving in Spain?

MaturingCheeseball · 30/07/2026 17:34

Thousands of young men from Morocco and beyond swimming to Spain. Spain obviously has encouraged the problem with their amnesty for existing migrants, but thousands more arriving with no means of support and undocumented is going to cause huge problems. Large numbers will no doubt be ultimately trying to reach the UK.

It’s harsh, but we cannot accept infinite numbers of men.

Which bit of the incorrect statement ‘the majority of sexual assaults are committed by illegals’, did I misread? It’s pure bullshit.

She was being sarcastic.

Italy has an increasing problem with sexual assault/rape committed by Moroccans. Italy traditionally has had many crimes - but not stranger violence.

I just don’t know how posters can justify thinking that groups of rootless young men wandering about is nothing to be concerned about.

No one has sad that though. But you can’t up claims and expect to get away with it.

parallhel · 30/07/2026 19:03

In the meantime, there are many visitors going to Morocco for Marrakesh, the Atlas Mountains, Essaouira, Casablanca, Desert safaris and so on. I can see why some will leave places like Sudan if they can but Morocco?

Anyway, I reckon a lot of them will end up in Spain and France. French is spoken in Morocco following French rule/protectorate way back. Marine le Pen is watching I reckon.

All men. The poor women left behind to try to exist.

I did think that at first, but based on other threads, I wouldn’t be too sure.

Every inaccuracy should be challenged.

I’ve just rather shamefully realised that @IdaGlossop ’s post was parody. I also fell for the bait.

It's not shameful. Deadpan works better spoken. A little lesson for me.

Have you got a source for the figures.
I understand there are lots of people leaving the country.

Migration Observatory, Gov’s own website, BBC, House of Commons library. All robust sources.

I just cant get my head around why no government seems that bothered. We keep waving them in, young men who add nothing positive to our society but drain resources without contirbuting. I feel sorry for people who migrate legally in search of a better life, or asylum seekers who apply via the established route who get caught up in the rhetoric. Sick of being called right wing or whatever for stating the obvious that undocumented men paying people smugglers to come here by sea who are then dumped into cities and towns across the country isnt a positive thing.

What established route is that? You can’t claim asylum until you arrive into the country.

Where did you get that info from about Italy?

At the moment the news is about a Morrocan man who died under police restraint while pleading for help

What are they claiming asylum from? AFAIK there isn't a war on in North Africa.

I was being sarcastic. That will be the case with other comments you may have read on other threads. It's an expression of my despair that despite a basic education having been compulsory since 1870 in England, so many people swallow what they read without question.

Apologies, in that case. I have read posts by people seriously stating that most rape is committed by immigrants/illegals.

Yes do you want to show the actual information then, as you were the one who made claims.

No need to apologise but I appreciate it.

That people believe most rape is committed by immigrants (for which read men of Pakistani, Bangladeshi or African heritage who may or may not be here legally) helps me understand how it can be the case that 1 in 6 of the adult population has the numeracy skills expected of an 11-year old.

Why is it invariably women that die when there are far more men? I wonder.

Because generally its less common for women to be able to swim in many countries. Globally 57% of men report that they can swim, its only 32% of women.

nomas · 30/07/2026 19:18

Did you want to point to something in particular?

Or are you just proving @IdaGlossop ‘s point?

EmBear91 · 30/07/2026 19:19

labamba007 · 30/07/2026 18:38

People are leaving that’s why. People with jobs who pay tax. People who owns businesses who employ people. Doctors and dentist and nurses and teachers.

But yes it’s going down hooray! We’ll add more people in who don’t have skills and don’t pay tax and lose the people that do. Brilliant plan.

Being an asylum seeker doesn’t equal no skills. They are not allowed to work whilst their claim is being processed. That is a government failure, not the fault of the people seeking asylum.

Per capita?

Do you get many billionaires raping 12 year olds? And don't try telling me we have rapists in this country i know so there is no need to increase the probability of it happening.

Have you not heard of the Epstein files?

"Recent reporting and FOI-based analyses show foreign nationals are disproportionately represented in some UK sexual‑offence statistics:"

Did you want to point to something in particular? Yes this ^
