AIBU to worry about large numbers of undocumented men arriving in Spain?

1000 replies

MaturingCheeseball · 30/07/2026 17:34

Thousands of young men from Morocco and beyond swimming to Spain. Spain obviously has encouraged the problem with their amnesty for existing migrants, but thousands more arriving with no means of support and undocumented is going to cause huge problems. Large numbers will no doubt be ultimately trying to reach the UK.

It’s harsh, but we cannot accept infinite numbers of men.

Suspended. And that is very unlikely under EU law as the mechanism is not really in place. It is populist posturing. If Sweden, Finland and Italy wish to implement passport control at their own borders they can do so for a temporary period, if they wish.

Edited

Finland demands the expulsion of Spain and is not willing to take in even a single migrant.

Not ‘suspend’

And....why do people want to flee these do people want to flee these counties ? Morocco ?

Hardly a war torn hell hole ?

Yes - and why should Finland take in a single migrant?

I'm really against this attitude that the European border crisis is something that just "is", and the only solution is to share them all around "fairly".

Spain’s prime minister, Pedro Sánchez, who arrived in Ceuta on Friday, described the influx as “a violation of Spain’s territorial integrity” and said he would use all the state resources at his disposal to guarantee the safety of the people of Ceuta.
He attributed the mass crossing to “human trafficking mafias” that had taken advantage of a decision by Spain’s supreme court, which recently ruled that those intercepted at sea while trying to enter Ceuta, or Spain’s other north African enclave of Melilla, could not be summarily returned under special rules.

In any case, whatever the EU roolz say, the institution is completely discredited.
Both the current majority party in Germany and the likely incoming ruling party in France both are demanding exit from the EU.

And without them the EU doesn’t exist is any meaningful way.
Poland has already just gone its own way on immigration.
The EU gravy train is bust.
Perhaps this latest Spanish madness voting in Sanchez will prove to have ultimately been a ‘good thing’ in being the final nail in its corrupt coffin,

It does not look like a Ceuta police vehicle as they have white squares across the middle section

It is not a Guardia Civil van which are dark green and white

It could possibly be a Policia Nacional van although it is a blurry image and to be honest it doesn't look like one because normally these have POLICIA NACIONAL written on them in large white capital letters

Wll according to our Spanish poster, there's nothing to worry about. 😟

MN: No, it does not bother us, there should be no borders, anyone welcome!

Also MN: (literally now on a different thread) I am annoyed with my neighbour, her cats trespass into our garden, as does her garden plant and a hedgehog

Also MN: boundaries are important - teach your ghastly MIL not to drop off presents without making a booking in advance!

I love MN.

They did worse. Numbers down under Labour.

Do you really believe that, they’re still coming on the boats

Whether or not it’s likely under EU law, Sweden, Finland and Italy do have a point.
Freedom of movement works best under certain conditions, ideally between countries and people of a similar economic status.

Yikes, can't be fun being a resident in Ceuta just now.

https://x.com/visegrad24/status/2083117292510966129

It’s terrifying.
It’s much scarier and poses a danger to smaller communities. Rural communities have been hit by newcomers here, in towns where it is 50/50.
If and when it does kick off, it’s much worse.
I feel a bit safer in a city, never before has that been the case.

How do you stop the small boats - well you sink them. However if you sink the boats then people die and thats a "bad thing".

Can you tow the boats back? well a) how do you get a tow rope onto a small boat when the hosts don't want it and b) where do you tow it too? I am sure the French won't be happy with us invading their territorial waters towing small boats behind our boats.

They’re quite happy to let them sail from French waters in the first place though and I thought we were paying the French to improve the situation

Not desperate at all. Of course the crisis is real, only a complete and utter fool would try to say it is faked. But circulating fake videos is not good, either, is it?

Eta: that x account is virulently anti-Muslim so I tend to take its unsourced videos with a large pinch of 🧂

Yes but fewer of them.

Some numbers are bigger than other ones.

We absolutely do notice all of the things you’ve mentioned and this is why until we get our own house in order we can’t accept anymore people. When you can’t support the people already here it’s madness to welcome more.

Yes there was a whole thing on the news last night about how young people who had graduated were struggling to find jobs and affordable housing.

yet we have to keep taking the immigrants, why are they more important than the people living here and it is contributing to the housing situation

So you’re saying you believed the figures until a Labour government reduced them? The independently collected, verified figures?
