I didn't say that I was in favour of totally unregulated immigration. I said that the UK does not need to worry about Moroccans trying to go there who have already reached Spain.
Spanish immigration policy is humane but not "unregulated". For example, having a criminal record would be a serious hindrance in the immigration process, as would committing an offence while here. We have a part of our penal code which states that in the case of a third country national who has not yet obtained the permanent right to residency (for which you must live here for minimum 5 years) and sentenced to between 1-5 years in prison then this is substituted for deportation. Equally if they get more than 5 years, they serve a portion of their time here and are then deported.
So we don't have "unregulated" immigration policy at all. Obviously I don't expect that to be common knowledge outside Spain, or even amongst Spanish people who are not educated in the finer points of our laws.
But this is one of those situations where before frothing at the mouth and scaremongering, knowledge of the actual relevant laws for the country both in matters of immigration and penal matters, really helps to be able to understand the situation properly, as opposed to just ranting about small boats and how Western culture is doomed and other such far right, racist hyperbole.
As I have said before, the British media is very good at frightening it's citizens about immigrants, divide and conquer etc. Meanwhile the population doesn't notice that your own society, your cost of living crisis, your insane energy bills, your crumbling health service etc etc are real examples of your own society being driven into the ground while the ultra rich line their pockets.
