AIBU to worry about large numbers of undocumented men arriving in Spain?

1000 replies

MaturingCheeseball · 30/07/2026 17:34

Thousands of young men from Morocco and beyond swimming to Spain. Spain obviously has encouraged the problem with their amnesty for existing migrants, but thousands more arriving with no means of support and undocumented is going to cause huge problems. Large numbers will no doubt be ultimately trying to reach the UK.

It’s harsh, but we cannot accept infinite numbers of men.

Spain have now reported that 49000 migrants arrived in Ceuta yesterday. I feel for the Spanish people. Sanchez has allowed this to happen.

And our government continues to do nothing significant to stop the boats. Around 700 people, I imagine mostly men, in one day yesterday.

We are entitled to feel angry and threatened.

Ceuta has a population of nearly 84,000 so to have 49,000 people arrive to a small enclave is frightening, the illegals are breaking in to homes there as they have nowhere to stay, meanwhile the socialist Spanish PM has sent the military to Ceuta but have been told to do nothing.

Many of them will soon be arriving to the UK to a HMO near you soon. Suicidal empathy by weak European leaders is the cause of this, they are more concerned about being called a racist than they are about protecting their own citizens.

Yet you were so quick to shut it down.

You should be ashamed

That poster is so left, shame isn’t an emotional response available to those who are supporting this crazy dangerous future.
It is pink washing the crisis situation.

The depravity is beyond understanding.

We continue to be gaslit into downplaying our concerns about these men and called bigots and racists. People would think very differently if they had to live in close proximity to these men.

I agree.
I'm getting fed up with the 'UK has bad men too argument' not only because it's illogical to bring more bad men in but because there is a complete lack of understanding that UK law and customs mean that it would not be tolerable AT ALL to rape women and girls as if it is normal.

Some women have no understanding that other cultures are genuinely misogynistic in ways we are fortunate enough to not comprehend.

Frankly the women who are welcoming these men are often also the same women who think somebody calling them 'love' is an affront.

I hope that they are never put in the position where using the wrong term of address is the very, very least of their problems because by that time it's game over.

mrshoho · 31/07/2026 09:51

Either Morocco will work with Spain to return all of these people or Ceuta will be taken by Morocco. All of Europe can only wait it out. I don't know what to think.

I voted YABU unreasonable because nothing in your original post was accurate. If you're going to start a thread on something at least get your facts right surely that's the bare minimum.

Nope. They swam to Spain's North African enclave Ceuta. Not to Spain mainland.

Large numbers will no doubt be ultimately trying to reach the UK.
You have no way of knowing this. No idea yet what will happen to them at Ceuta or if they'll get to Europe mainland

Didn’t a Spanish court just rule that no Moroccan entering Cuerta via swimming could be returned to Morocco? Perhaps this is fake news (it does sound insane). If they cannot be returned then what will happen to them? What if another 50,000 arrive today? They will need to be taken somewhere. If not back to Morocco then it will have to be to mainland Europe. Presumably Cuerta cannot safely accommodate so many young men. Imagine the financial costs of dealing with all their legal/housing/ food costs.

Maddy70 · 31/07/2026 09:54

It's a spa ish enclave in Morroco. This happens fairly frequently here. British reporting at it's best

Have you heard of the Epstein files at all?

How does that make it right that we allow ever more undocumented men from countries where women are less than second class citizens into our country? Answer - it doesn't.

localnotail · 31/07/2026 09:55

I think it's not judt about the "culture" of people arriving. Where there are issues with it, or course, it's not the main problem. The problem is that people who are prepared to do something like this (break the border, travel somewhere illegally) are most likely chancers, often criminals, often people who don't work and are prepared to break the law - they have nothing to lose. These are rarely law obiding hard working people, those are generally try to use legal routes or try to make a life for themselves where they live.

I'm not talking, of course, about people displaced by wars or political changes.

TheSmallAssassin · 30/07/2026 18:31

Well, we won't accept "infinite men" @MaturingCheeseball, because there aren't infinite men. If there were an infinite number of people on the planet, then we would definitely be in trouble.

Maybe lay off the hyperbole and more people would take you seriously.

Maybe lay off the pedantry and you would also be taken more seriously?

Nope, not fake news. The crossings increased massively after this court ruling.

Oh right when was the last time 49000 landed there over a period of 24 hours? So nothing to see here is tpur opinion?

It's Germany all over again and we all know what happened in Cologne.

KittyCorncrake · 31/07/2026 09:59

It happens occasionally with a few or even a hundred, fairly easily contained.
49.000 Not so much.
Direct result of Pedro Sanchez cynical attempts to gerrymander votes and undermine Western values.

CoffeeCantata · 31/07/2026 10:03

EppingTrain · 31/07/2026 08:34

How many Moroccan men will you welcome into your home?

I think anyone who is in favour of totally unregulated immigration should offer accommodation to random immigrants. If you're not in a position to put your spare bedroom where you mouth is, then keep quiet!

One thing that strikes me is that none of the virtue-signalling people who think the UK should welcome everyone who want to come ever has any concrete or practical ideas as to how and where they should be housed.

I'd have a lot more respect for them if they had any practical suggestions on this, because that's the issue, isn't it?

MaturingCheeseball · 31/07/2026 10:06

49,000 is - for context - the population of Durham, Canterbury, Stafford or Taunton. That is a great many men. All men. And still posters say so what?

As we're talking "accuracy".....

There was no reference to "Spanish mainland" - nobody, apart from you, has used that wording. Just "Spain", so....

Yes, Ceuta is an official part of Spain. It is a Spanish autonomous city located on the north coast of Africa, sharing a border with Morocco. Ceuta is an integral territory of the Kingdom of Spain. It has the same political standing as Spain's mainland semi-autonomous regions and is fully integrated into the European Union.

I know, right? The pet comment was really next level, a brand new stick to beat the pet-loving Brits with 🤦‍♀️

I tend to give a wide berth to anybody who doesn't value animals.

parallhel · 31/07/2026 10:09

Europe should just move to the African continent, re settle, sort it out and let all Africans go to Europe instead.

Europe has the means to do this and it makes so much sense really, because Europe cannot sustain the influx which will grow and grow.

(That is tongue in cheek BTW in case anyone has a conniption, but still....)

EmeraldShamrock000 · 31/07/2026 10:11

Who is behind this? 49,000 men didn’t just decide today is the day. Who is funding this project? It’ll be interesting to see how the army deal with this, poor Spain, between the fires and invasion those lovely people will become bitter.

MaturingCheeseball · 31/07/2026 10:13

left-wing people by and large are not dog people. In the mornings I often pass this stringy couple out jogging. They always wear virtue-signalling t-shirts: “I’m running to end world hunger” (!) , “Run Green” and other (always green) t-shirts with similar slogans. The woman theatrically glares and shies away from Dog. He’s not in the least interested in them and doesn’t like eating green things anyway…

Of course governments are bothered! What an odd thing to say.

I am not sure many Moroccan will come to the UK. They will be more attracted to Spain as it already has a very large Moroccan community.

They’ll be attracted to France because of the common language. Then when they realise how unwelcoming and ungiving France is, they’ll head here.

LakieLady · 31/07/2026 10:14

localnotail · 30/07/2026 22:05

Its a known fact that there are certain places where minorities concentrate - they tend to live together. There are also a lot of places in the UK where there are hardly any non-white people.

A lot of those "non-white" people could be British born and bred, so that's not necessarily an indicator of immigration. Someone who came to the UK from the Caribbean in 1948 could easily have 4 generations of descendants now, all UK born.

I have a friend of South Asian heritage whose India-born great-grandfather came to the UK not long after the end of the first world war. Said friend is now a grandfather himself, and his GCs are brown, just like him and his forebears, and are all UK-born.

Have you heard of the Epstein files at all?

This kind of comment shows the utter desperation (and moral bankruptcy) of apologists for unregulated immigration.

The Epstein files have absolutely NOTHING to do with large numbers of people who we know nothing abut arriving in boats.

But I think you know this.
