AIBU to worry about large numbers of undocumented men arriving in Spain?

MaturingCheeseball · 30/07/2026 17:34

Thousands of young men from Morocco and beyond swimming to Spain. Spain obviously has encouraged the problem with their amnesty for existing migrants, but thousands more arriving with no means of support and undocumented is going to cause huge problems. Large numbers will no doubt be ultimately trying to reach the UK.

It’s harsh, but we cannot accept infinite numbers of men.

What has changed is more people waking up to the threat that immigrant males in large numbers pose. The numbers being let into the country has just gone up and up, and there are now fewer people around to say that all those who are concerned by large scale demographic changes are racist. More are willing to challenge the neoliberal authoritarianism in the face of the huge changes we have seen in our country over just 10-20 years.

Yes. Even in my immigrant community, people are concerned. I have changed my mind on this issue in recent years.

Those of us who followed the rules, contributed and assimilated- we are 'doctors and engineers' actually- are now being tarred with the same brush. Our men are indistinguishable from other men who didn't follow the rules, so they take the brunt. My local Sikh grocer- hardworking, employs some 10 people- is now getting racist abuse.

That said, I am still not voting Reform or Restore as I am not convinced they can solve this problem. Likely escalate hatred. It's a hard problem to solve.

localnotail · 31/07/2026 09:11

I never thought I'd say this but I applaud Meloni who said something to the effect that Spain should not be allowed free travel within the EU until this shit is sorted.

localnotail · 31/07/2026 09:12

I think this is beyond simply immigration. This is just criminal.

Naunet · 30/07/2026 21:31

We have not always been a country that is anti immigration, this has only happened in the last 20-25 years. Why do you think that is?

I would suggest its because A. We have less and less resources and B. Certain cultures dont align well with ours.

Konstantin Kisin (Triggernometry podcast) made an interesting comment on that.
He came to the UK as an immigrant himself in the mid-90s. During these years net legal migration to the UK was around 45 to 55 thousand per year.
In the recent years, these numbers represented the illegal/ irregular arrivals alone.
He also said that according to surveys, only 3% of the British saw immigration as an issue in the 90s. The numbers of newcomers were just drastically different.

I thought the three women were found dead on a boat on their own and were not part of a mixed group. That’s what the article inked to above seems to be saying.

They have been raped to death on these boats and tossed over the edge. I remember one news article, mother and daughter died, mother died of a heart attack as DD was raped to death on boat, they’ve dumped women over along the Greece coastline.

EmeraldShamrock000 · 31/07/2026 09:15

*An Iraqi migrant ship disaster in June 2024 involved a 16-year-old Iraqi girl who was reportedly raped and killed in front of her mother on a sinking boat off the coast of Italy. Italian police arrested a 27-year-old Iraqi male survivor in connection with the attack and the victim's suffocation death.•

SpaceRaccoon · 30/07/2026 21:38

It's because three women died "of heart attacks" on a boat packed with men. Work it out.

All three of them allegedly. Awful 😞

localnotail · 31/07/2026 09:15

What I find fucking surreal is, meanwhile, people from the EU who lived in the UK for years, who work and made him there are not allowed back after travelling due to."immigration issues"

Ponoka7 · 31/07/2026 08:11

So they live on fresh air?

Yes /what do they live in, then?
Deliveroo hustle?

parallhel · 31/07/2026 09:19

The Clacton by election might be won by Farage after all now.

That ship has sadly sailed in referring to the UK as a Christian country. As we are told over and over by left wing activists, that Christianity is irrelevant now in the UK. Funny that we're expected to have Christian morals on the one hand but then expected to accept our religion being ridiculed and devalued in every other respect. I don't begrudge anyone making use of food banks however the abuse that these facilities are now being subjected to is grim. My kids volunteered to help but the local one has now closed due to safety concerns.

Our local foodbank looks like it will be closing too because they can't get volunteers due to the attitude of some of the users.
This is a shame because genuine UK citizens, who have fallen on hard times, will now be disadvantaged.

I can only hope that those women haunt those men every night until they go insane with fear.

I voted YABU unreasonable because nothing in your original post was accurate. If you're going to start a thread on something at least get your facts right surely that's the bare minimum.

Thousands of young men from Morocco and beyond swimming to Spain
Nope. They swam to Spain's North African enclave Ceuta. Not to Spain mainland.

Large numbers will no doubt be ultimately trying to reach the UK.
You have no way of knowing this. No idea yet what will happen to them at Ceuta or if they'll get to Europe mainland

peepsypops · 31/07/2026 09:32

Fgs have you been in Spain ever? This has always been the case - Morocco’s proximity means its standard. There’s a huge amount of Moroccans in France too - why do you think they will ultimately arrive in the UK? Maybe they will but this is not at all new.

The depravity is beyond understanding.

We continue to be gaslit into downplaying our concerns about these men and called bigots and racists. People would think very differently if they had to live in close proximity to these men.

OP are you under the impression MN is a Spanish site?

Net migration to the UK is down significantly btw - half what it was last year, and illegal migration also on a downward trend.

Oh go away.

Where is that being reported, please.

Er Reuters among numerous others…..

EmeraldShamrock000 · 31/07/2026 09:42

Madrid is sending the army in. If this isn’t the wake up call that Europe needs. Now is the time to make changes. There are too many do gooders refusing to take part in the save Europe act, controlled immigration, the right to deport with costing hundreds of thousands of euros to do so.
I would happily pay higher taxes for border control.
Eva Vlaardingerbroek is fighting tooth and nail to have this passed. Give her a follow to help her cause.

friedaklein · 31/07/2026 09:42

I am also very worried about climate refugees. That will be a different problem.
This summer has really driven that home.

The UK absolutely does have the duty to do that. That is why instead of worrying about migrants into Spain, if you are so concerned for women's rights, you should campaign for better legal protection to be enshrined in UK law in matters of rape and domestic violence, gender equality and women's healthcare.
Stop listening to tabloid headlines and start looking at actual legal texts, case law and government policy in your own country.

Stop worrying about Mohammed moving there and start worrying about John raping a woman and getting away with it because he can base his entire defence on "but I thought she wanted to" with the full burden of proof on the prosecution to prove that she didn't.

You should be ashamed

MaturingCheeseball · 31/07/2026 09:46

Men trampling others to death, attacking the police, invading homes… these are not good people.
