AIBU to worry about large numbers of undocumented men arriving in Spain?

MaturingCheeseball · 30/07/2026 17:34

Thousands of young men from Morocco and beyond swimming to Spain. Spain obviously has encouraged the problem with their amnesty for existing migrants, but thousands more arriving with no means of support and undocumented is going to cause huge problems. Large numbers will no doubt be ultimately trying to reach the UK.

It’s harsh, but we cannot accept infinite numbers of men.

I am discussing rape because many posters on this thread are discussing their perceived increased risk of sexual assault in the UK because there are Moroccan migrants arriving in Spain (looks weird when you write it like that , huh). It perhaps behooves the UK to tighten up their legal definition of consent which would offer greater legal protection for women from all men.

That's why.

Or maybe we should try tightening up our borders, without being called racists.

friedaklein · 31/07/2026 08:20

I find it concerning. I am an immigrant (2nd gen). I support controlled skilled immigration, but undocumented single men alarm me.

Also, they make people wary of anyone non-white.

The UK doesn't offer "fucking benefits to all and sundry".

Having worked in welfare rights for more than 2 decades, I can assure you that the rules on benefits for people coming from abroad are very stringent. For most recent arrivals, it is only those granted asylum that are able to get benefits. That takes at least 6 months, and less than half of asylum applications succeed without going to appeal, which takes far longer.

It took a Kurdish friend over 2 years to be awarded refugee status.

Yes, but they can access foodbanks and get free food.

The videos online are of Ceuta, on the African continent, neighbouring Tunisia. It's not as scary for Europe as is being made out. However if I was in Cueta I'd best terrified. The population was just 83k and already half Muslim before this. Even migration of a few thousand makes it Muslim majority. What's happened in recent weeks means the Spanish population of the city may be already incredibly unsafe. If I lived there I'd be weighing up my options of leaving and potentially sacrificing my property or staying and sacrificing my life.

Why are you equating 'muslim population' with unsafe?

Why do many EU countries have anti car bollards and armed police for their Christmas markets?

GentleSheep · 31/07/2026 08:23

So here's a factoid some of you may be missing (I was) - Morocco has conscription for those between 19-25, so perhaps some of the young men in the videos are seeking to avoid that?

Reform and Farage are crashing down in the polls with all these dodgy donations being finally scrutinised.

So, surprise surprise the Daily Fail comes up with a scary headline about immigrants 'flooding' Spain and then it is picked up by people to try to revive the small boats narrative here.

Burham must be doing something right as well if the right wing bottom feeders are getting that desperate.

So you admit that it isn't actually anything to do with protecting women's rights, rather your right to discriminate with impunity.

LuckyHazelFox · 31/07/2026 08:28

Zippedydoobaah · 31/07/2026 08:10

We don't have a resurgence of the far right because "people have their heads in the sand". It's because they are racist xenophobes, mostly uneducated and they feel terribly threatened by anyone who isn't like them. They have no interest in data, they rely on social media 'facts'. Strangely they do not bat an eyelid when their white neighbour is convicted of beating and raping a woman but they are up in arms, organising protests, making banners saying "ISLAM OUT" when a black man (who was a Christian in the last case I heard of) does the same.

Edited

Are there anymore boxes you want to tick? Uneducated racists has to be the most lazy blanket statement to make, everytime immigration is mentioned. Once again, those moaning about stereotyping do the exact same in their own posts.

And yet there's no response to this.

Of course we should discriminate - every state has a right to decide who gets in and who they keep out. Anything else would be crazy!

That's basic stuff. I'm not suggesting this should be on grounds of race - but certainly on valid ground of what they can contribute to the UK. Legal, controlled immigration - yes please.

Any old (or actually young and vigorous) blokes in boats, not necessarily.

Free food! Imagine!

Have you seen what you are writing? For those who speak so much about preservation of culture is the UK not Christian? I am Catholic and there is nothing in our religious texts that would permit begrudging food in this situation... surely it is pretty unChristian to have an issue with undocumented migrants accessing food banks?!

OP are you under the impression MN is a Spanish site?

Net migration to the UK is down significantly btw - half what it was last year, and illegal migration also on a downward trend.

Where are the facts to support this and I do belive we are allowed to talk about other countries on here.

Being selective isn't being 'discriminatory'.

Making decisions about who we want entering UK is just common sense.

How many Moroccan men will you welcome into your home?

Yes we need to be 10 times more discriminatory, this is what is causing so many problems.

that ruling with the Palestinian family last week about bringing in 18 so called relatives was absolutely ridiculous and they were legal

Of course! You can do whatever you want in your country.

Don't worry about what is happening in ours. You guys left the EU and were never in Schengen.

EppingTrain · 31/07/2026 08:35

Some nations have a strict interpretation that ONLY citizens have the unfettered right to enter. And all others are subject to the gov's approval.

First and foremost, a government has a duty to protect its citizens. Women's rights are enshrined in domestic equality legislation, so dont worry yourself there. Women also have the right to be worried about being attacked by any man. They don't need you to decide who they are and aren't afraid of.

I don't mind some of my taxes going towards social assistance to undocumented migrants if that is what you mean.

The foodbank in our town is stocked by voluntary contributions and staffed by volunteers (who have dwindled in number due to abuse from foodbank users)

Nowhere in Scripture does it say that Christians have to roll over and take abuse.

Poor Ceuta. The shops have closed and apparently migrants are breaking and entering homes to find a place to stay. The police say are overwhelmed.

And yet posters are claiming it’s aok, either it’s all an exaggeration or masses of men arriving is a good thing as we need immigration and they are no trouble at all.

Where is that being reported, please.

“Stop spending billions on pets” 😂 Is a Labrador or cockapoo likely to be a criminal, likely to need public housing and benefits?

I know, right? The pet comment was really next level, a brand new stick to beat the pet-loving Brits with 🤦‍♀️
