AIBU to worry about large numbers of undocumented men arriving in Spain?

MaturingCheeseball · 30/07/2026 17:34

Thousands of young men from Morocco and beyond swimming to Spain. Spain obviously has encouraged the problem with their amnesty for existing migrants, but thousands more arriving with no means of support and undocumented is going to cause huge problems. Large numbers will no doubt be ultimately trying to reach the UK.

It’s harsh, but we cannot accept infinite numbers of men.

Asylum seekers used to be random ballet dancers or athletes from Eastern Europe, not hundreds of thousands of undocumented males.

I despair. I don't want to live in a muslim country. I was born in the UK, and actually I think it's quite fair and accepting of incomers. But IMO, the incomers do the fitting in, not the natives.

Pets have way more sense than people. Pets should be running the show.

Net migration is down because less EU nationals are coming here (ie people who come to the UK to work and contribute to society), students requiring visas not being given them and changes to rules allowing care workers to bring their families over whilst more people are leaving the UK.

It’s not a positive thing! Can you honestly not see that more educated, working, contributing people leaving/not coming but 000000s of illegal migrants who contribute nothing but take lots, is not a complete and utter shit show? Really?

We will look back in 20/40 years (maybe sooner) and be appalled at how successive governments allowed this population to”replacement” to happen.

It's funny because 10 years ago it was polish and other eastern European people being demonised. The UK 'made Brexit happen' and EU nationals aren't interested in the UK now and people have moved on to demonising someone else whilst looking back mournfully at those hardworking, educated Europeans and pretending they didn't they drive away.

@TopPocketFind I think the smugglers are the criminals, overloading the boats.

I'm sure we all agree with that.

But Starmer said he would "Smash the gangs" - just remind me how that panned out.....🤔

No need to despair. Just stay living in the UK if you don't want to live in a Muslim country. Nobody is going to force you to move.

You don't have proper laws or protections. You don't have even a written constitution.

You have a serious gender imbalance in the workplace and in your government. We have laws which require 50/50 gender split in political parties and on the boards of large companies. Both parents receive 19 weeks parental leave following the birth of a child. We have public nursery school available for babies from 4 months old which is on a means tested pay scale where the maximum is 400 euros per month for full time care. We have employment laws which protect parents of children under 12 years old.

We have, since 2015, clarified in our Penal Code that anything other than clear consent is rape, look up "la Ley del si" which made this modification.

I could go on. But the UK's domestic propaganda has done a great job of convincing it's citizens that they have nothing to worry about.

Where are the fundamental rights of residents of the UK (including it's own citizens) listed so they can be clearly seen and protected?

Ours are listed in Título I de la Constitución Española.

Where are your?

You have also had thousands of Morrocans throw your humanity back in your face. The Spanish have shown they aren't accommodating to tourists. Who are the racists? Actually, Xenophobics are just as ugly.

They're laughing all the way to the bank. Oh no, forgot they don't need banks.

It wasn’t the Eastern Europeans who were “feared” - but prior to Brexit there was the genuine threat of Turkey joining the EU and opening the free movement gates from the Middle East. It happened anyway 🤷‍♀️

You've failed to address my point, you implied things that are untrue, such as Spain being so much safer or that we dont have proper employment rights. But if you're genuinely interested, you can start with the Equalities Act if you like?

Also, just so you know, it comes across as incredibly arrogant to assume we're all thick and only you, someone in Spain, has fully grasped British laws or lack of them.

Leave the males in Cueta, don’t let them into mainland Spain. They’ll soon get bored, there is no war or danger to claim asylum from in Morocco, they’re economic migrants. So why should they be let into mainland Europe? It’s illegal to do that, force their way into a country, they should just be ignored. It’s a big shame for the Spanish in Cueta though, they’ll be overrun with men with different cultural values, and little respect for women….

Papyrophile · 30/07/2026 21:21

So why so many coming here?

WTF since when did the cost of my dog's ear drops, chew sticks and flea/tick injections come into this debate?! 😵‍💫

Cueta is so tiny it'll be overrun in days. Must be frightening for those living there. Am actually surprised it hasn't happened earlier.

localnotail · 30/07/2026 21:24

If you google "migrants storming Spain", you get hundreds of items by youtube, GB news, Facebook and other "reputable" sources. If you sift through the results, you get a BBC article talking about the June incident on Moroccan border where hundreds of people tried to force their way from Morocco to Spain but got stopped by Moroccan police. 77 officially killed, 133 made into Spain. Hardly "thousands".

There are still around 4 million EU citizens living in the UK - how many more do you want?

“Stop spending billions on pets” 😂 Is a Labrador or cockapoo likely to be a criminal, likely to need public housing and benefits?

Right?! They money I spend on pet care comes from my net income, you know, what's left after taxes.

The governent doesn't pay for my dog? I don't understand this argument at all....

MaturingCheeseball · 30/07/2026 21:26

@BiteSizedLife - c’mon, where’s your compassion? That money spent on dog chews and worming could be donated to blokes coming off small boats.

Bulgarians and Romanians were also used as a threat because of their natural criminal natures.

Papyrophile · 30/07/2026 21:28

I generally like the east Europeans who live and work in the UK, although I think they could be better at putting their beer cans in the rubbish bin.

GentleSheep · 30/07/2026 21:28

Hmmm reading around a bit about the history of Cueta I'm wondering whether this is simply an attempt to reclaim it for Morocco, force the inhabitants out by force of numbers, rather than an attempt to carry on into the rest of Europe. It's a bit like the Falklands situation, an outpost of one empire but claimed by another.

LuckyHazelFox · 30/07/2026 21:29

I thought we would see GB News make an appearance. Always part of the nothing here to see argument.
